And as for ur info, the R15 boasts of the following new things atleast for India:
1. Deltabox frame
2. Liquid cooling
3. 4 valve head
4. Full fairing
5. Soft compound rubber
6. Light weight alloys.
Is this enough?

@Akkiben: In our country most where most motorcycles get stickers and "wolf-eyed headlamps" for upgrades, Yamaha R15 is indeed a path breaking motorcycle!
And yes, not to mention, the lighter and stronger Delta box frame, four valve engine with forged pistons, diasil cylinder, link type mono-suspension and with the performance which can actually put our 200+cc motorcycles to shame!!!!...yes, it is path breaking!
You cannot argue with that right now with any other Indian motorcycle. Period

Dude that's the whole point of the RTR flagship, it achieved something exciting since the RX100 (for me) with the same mundane platform (air cooled, two valve and so on), while the R15 does employ some new improved technology which quite frankly which Yamaha could've brought whenever they wanted (it's just they were waiting for the right time, and they nailed it!!), the TVS on the other hand was always something of an underdog ever since it's Fiero daysOriginally posted by Aparajith View PostThis is India, Synn!!! BTW, El Loco, agreed that the RTR Fi is a good bike, but IMHO it is nothing more than an extension of the RTR. It does not boast of any path-breaking new technologies or any great improvement. So as far as the best new bike of 2008 is concerned its R15 all the way!I'm too intelligent to the unintended, and too dumb for the obvious.

The R15 deserves all the accolades. I suspect that the R15 will do the same to the "desi" motorcycle scene what the CBZ did back in 1999. i.e. shake up the "desi" motorcycle landscape.
The handling is definitely stellar on the R15, just that the performance has left for some scope of at least a little bit of upgrade (and I am not talking about any aftermarket performance kit here).

Guess i was right about the TVS being the underdog, the Hero Honda marquee is always the first to bring out something new into the indian market, like it did with the Splendour, the CBZ, the ZMA, and most recent and most unnoticed with the Glamour PGM-Fi which i think with a little bit more of a marketing strategy would have attracted the attention of the people, but somehow along the way they seem to lose steam and return back to their default market of commutersOriginally posted by payeng View PostThe R15 deserves all the accolades. Hmmm...now did i say anything bout the Zma or ZmaR here???? We're talking bout the R-15 and its "Ground Breaking Technology"Originally posted by Aparajith View PostEven I would like to know what is new in the ZMA except the R sticker??
For us even the inclusion of a rear disc or lets says front discs when they first made a much awaited appearance into the Indian biking scene has been "ground breaking" ain't it?Originally posted by Aparajith View Postthe R15 boasts of the following new things atleast for India:

Now lets see what the R-15 has...4valves, liquid cooling, deltabox oh wait FI too(you missed the all important thing)!!!! Well, what can i say,,,surely "Ground Breaking" technology for India...albeit close to a decade late in getting this tech, we finally got it. Jeeeez!!!! I couldn be more happy. glad you got the point inspite of being sarcastic..the point is we got it in INDIA which other manufacturers did not..at a price point which is not very unrealistic..Originally posted by Akkiben View PostHmmm...now did i say anything bout the Zma or ZmaR here???? but moreover this being our own opinions i think u have your right to choose your favorite bike... you love the ZMA or the TVS feel free to vote for whatever you like thats in the list..
.
PS when the CBZ was launched it was declared the bike of the year as was the unicorn and as was the P220 and The DTSI tech..so new innovations for the market are given the vote as they pave the way for better products...
yamaha's runaway success has made bajaj sit up and notice and pre-poned the launch of the KTM see..for ref check out Fridays papers...and more importantly the baby Ninja too.Last edited by harshaguduru; 02-08-2009, 01:13 AM.Why is the man who invests all your money, called a broker?

Your two posts gave us the impression that you'd rather have voted for the Karizma (ZOMG!) R instead of the R15. Stickering involves a lot of brand new technology, you say?
It's actually a few decades late, but someone finally manned up and did it. The average Indian biker was content in buying the same old bullshit wrapped up in BRAND NEW technicolor plastic until then. It IS an important step for the indian market and you being in denial is not gonna change that.Originally posted by Akkiben View Post

So in a couple of years when you get (relatively) modern hardware from Honda, Bajaj, TVS etc. remember to thank that little blue and white bike for the change. Coz if it wasn't for it, you'd still be twin-shocking your rear end over potholes every day.

Actually 28 yrs since the first fuel injected bike which was the Kawazaki KZ1000G. The avg biker din know bout the outside world..if he did, he wouldn have been content either.Originally posted by Synn View PostIt's actually a few decades late, but someone finally manned up and did it. Denial...?? Does'nt fit in here. Nothing here to deny rather its....Heights of frustration seeing these puny bikes still doing business on our roads.
I rather twin-shock my rear on a bigger bike than on a small bike.Originally posted by Synn View PostSo in a couple of years when you get (relatively) modern hardware from Honda, Bajaj, TVS etc. remember to thank that little blue and white bike for the change. Btw, Monocross was shown to us by other Manufacturers way back before Yamaha and Honda bikes with mono's graced our streets.Kinetic Honda ZX(2001)

Neither the BSA bond nor the BMW F650 were mass production bikes and therefore, the general public didn't really get to know about their monoshocks. The Unicorn is a plain jane commuter that just happened to have a monoshock because the chinese bike that formed its template had it as part of its specs. Also, it was a direct action unit. The R15 is the first mass produced, multi-link monoshock equipped bike in india.
You and me both. But until someone brings them to these shores, they will remain as posters on the wall. The R15 is the harbinger of that change and all that is asked of you is to recognize that fact. No one is demanding that you worship it as the be all, end all of motorcycling.I rather twin-shock my rear on a bigger bike than on a small bike.
