@santa: You try to make things looks simple

I think that TVS takes part in races that are classified as 150-200cc 4stroke, the next class is 250cc 4stroke.Thus the former class puts a lot of bikes together to race on track events..........pls correct me if I am wrong

Its just that ppl dont know about them.

    ok ,here how it goes
Y do bajaj go on increasing 10 10 or 20 cc ?and all look the same.
use same parts as much as possible and cost cutting.
with what bajaj did and gained success , tvs is doing the same.

using already existing parts with mix and match , u have a new bike.

Y doesnt the rtr 180 look different ?

when u have an already sucessfully selling and tested bike named 160 which ppl have accepted it ,y will they waste millions on new designs and dyes and machines?

rtr 160 got a big bore and a smaller stroke than a150.
now if they kept the 180 with the same stroke as 160 (52.9mm) and bigger bore , it ll be a crazy over square engine , bore stroke ratio of moto gp level.
No 1 uses so much bore stroke ratio generally , and u ll end up with a super high revving engine.

So the other option is a new longer stroke and apache 150 57mm piston.

why will they waste money and design a new stroke ?? plus if they do so , it ll become more torquey like the zma , and not rev happy.

they already have a 160 piston and a 150 crank.

    combine both , make a 180 , public happy ,
total cost of a new bike ==peanuts.
ooly new things ll be a high lift cam , and new valves , bigger by say 1.5 mm from 160.
    and a bs29(p180 carb).
    Thats it .

    Anything more ?

    Santa
I already told you that I wasn't doubting your source! I just wanted to have a look at the gearing ratios and max tourque/HP production at which RPM peaks, info about fuel intake if available. Thought you know where these values are given, that's all

nice ad! so the bike looks the same. pretty good but i wonder why tvs is following the bajaj foot prints. some differences on the bike was expected. now the 160 and 180 looks the same.

Lots of pple have been thr and done that and have been spanked by the Mods. So pls dont go there. Please discuss RTR 180 in isolation !!

    62mm*57.8

Still an overqsuare engine , less oversquare than the 160.

It can still rev till 12k safely if needed ,
but since it is a longer stroke , 10k is good enough
it ll be torquier than the 160 .
Its gonna have better 0-60 figures than the r15 for sure..

After 60.. we ll check it out..

17.3 ps and 176c with 135 + kgs is a good power to weight ratio and has good advantage of the p200 which is way heavier.

    Let the bike arrive.

Santa, can I know where you got the specs from? Not doubting your source, but I wan't to look at other specs as well..

    1) This thread is standing proof that indian bikers (Or atleast quite a few of them) are not yet ready to understand that different bikes belong in different segments even though they may be close to each other in therms of cubic capacity.

    2) Because we're not here at anyone's beck and call and have other duties to perform. It's quite easy to post nonsense and then sit back saying "Hey, if my post doesn't conform, let a mod clean it up"! Newsflash: That's not what moderation is about. We're here to make sure YOU guys let your thoughts flow IN MODERATION and don't be surprised if infractions and bans are handed out without prior warning. Enough warnings have already been given and everyone here's of atleast average intelligence.

Short version: Clean up your act. NOW.
Seriously, this is like the worst phase of trolling that i have seen on xBHP...
we have been blessed with low tech bikes in the world... each player here is trying to carve a niche for themselves but selling us what they do best...

The RTR is a mean ass machine... period
The R15 is a mean ass handler... Period
The Unicorn is a super refined machine... period
The ZMA is still a brilliant machine in this age!
The pulsars are what bought "performance biking" to masses...

Lets move on in life... shall we!
