      Guys, I have some unconfirmed news about the new 220 and it's upgrades. Apparently, the only changes that they are planning are black alloys, black engine and a carbon fiber exhaust. The tentative launch date would be end of March or some time in April.

      Got info from someone at a Probiking showroom. Won't mention the city here so as to make sure no one gets in trouble, since Bajaj seems sensitive. (See the P200 thread where new models showed up in Pune and the vid disappeared rather fast.)

      Still hoping these guys actually will go beyond those minor changes and launch either a new bike with a better setup like monoshock and some engine changes to make the whole pack more attractive.

          Is monoshock such a superlatively difficult technology that no Indian bike manufacturer seems to have come up with it in their bikes ?

          Is it beyond the ability of our industry ?

            i'd really want to see a fully faired 220

            with actual liquid cooled engines.

            a 6th gear with the gear ratios properly matched.

            the bike should be a little more lower.

            and yes a mono.( Bajaj are u listening !!)

            cheers

              basically Bajaj is just lazy.

              putting in a mono means they will have to go back to vary stage of testing the chassis for stress points and and eliminate them and in a worst case scenario might mean redesigning the whole chassis to provide with better longitivity and reliability...

              so...

              cheers

                Lets keep this real and no OTs would be allowed. We don't want users to post something illogical like a 4-cylinder, liquid cooled, 16-valve, 60bhp, 250cc machine as the NEXT Pulsar 220cc!

                Let's keep this discussion serious. Before posting, remember Bajaj officials sure are watching!
                Oh.... nevermind....

                Jokes apart, The P220 needs some reasonable changes... what I am suggesting is like low cost small changes that would do good for it! Of course I can go flamboyant and all... (psst 9921212300, hire me....)
                - The P220 has carried the sick Pulsar tank for some years now, yes it was hot back then, now with jazzy sculpted tanks like RTR, FZ, this really needs to go...
                - It badly need a chassis update, we have got a decent level of competition from Yamaha in this regard who seem to be eating into the 'probiking' books... the P220 mill is pretty decent but looses out on handling!
                - IMHO the P220 design is super flawed, the projector lamps looks like a ripoff from the ducati and plonked into a p150...
                - The P220 realy DOESNT need the monoshock, but then again the audience here is now spoilt and pampered....

                There are more, but really I dont wanna give too much information fro free

                      This thread probably makes more sense now than it did 2 years back.

                        Service Department is the worst thing that seriously needs to be managed well before Bajaj plans new flagship here-on...

                          Half-way through the thread, I noticed it's started in 2009

                          well, as of now 4-valve engine, shedding weight to become lighter & chasis upgrade seems given.

                          I still want the Pulsar to remain same in one aspect and that is affordability & cheaper spares. Let's see what's in store for us, I think we are not too far away from next upgrade now!

                            Used it for close to 11 months and couldn't take it anymore! Sold it.

                            Things I hate/wish to have (can be fixed in the forthcoming models)

                            * Vibes in high rpms. (Heavy vibes)
                            * 6th gear.
                            * Stiffer suspension.
                            * A clock on the speedo.
                            * Better rear brakes.
                            * Better build quality.

                            I like the glowing console, riding position, and the exhaust note though

                            Cheaper spares?!?!? I'm sure you dint have a fall on the 220.
                            example : The pulsar lettering on the tank costs 1300/- Is that cheap?

                              Above one

                              what vibs r u talking about? engine resonance vibs?? or fairing vibs??? if it is fairing vibs they are common in all faired bikes even my friends zma fairing rattles more than the 220.My bike is 3 months old i didnt feel any heavy vibs[no engine resonance vibs] even at 130+speeds except fairing vibs.
                              Iam running on normal mineral oil from motul & i rip a lot even with that oil the bike doesnt give any vibs.

                              Regarding the spares just compare the p220 spares with zma or with r15

                              zma fairing costs some 5k iam not sure about that price the 220's cost just 1300 i changed mine rescently after a crash even the brake pads of 220 are more cheaper than the zma.

                                Are you kidding me? I think you are talking about fairing.. just compare it with Honda spares.. a disc pad on Unicorn costs you 1200, how about you compare that to Pulsar's spares. I'm sure you will be shocked.
