For a biker its good news as atleast it will make the bike manufacturers stop makin econo-crap and start makin proper bikes. but as a commuter all hell is goin to break loose on the roads with so much of the population drivin cars

There has been a huge response to the Nano. And i really wish that the bikes segment focuses on the above 150cc bikes.

nano will help the two wheeler industry in such a way that ,the biker enthusiasts will get more recognition-considering better ,bigger models be launched.
OTOH ,those who are forced to carry their family in a 2 wheeler can relief if tata nano can be available otr at 1.2lakhs.
        I am hoping.

I think the NANO launch shoud be good.. it wud put a big dent in the sales volumes of the 100cc bike and lets hope these bike makers wake up and give us higher capacity performance bikes

Nano would be good option for Auto for people who prefer more comfort than auto.

ahhh... that's sad man. Wouldn't wish it on anyone, but it happens to quite a lot of ppl (including me).. Just gotta wait till you start working and earning.. then value of money + responsibility will come naturally, no one to stop us owning and riding what we want na!!!!

how can nano affect the commuter segment?????????

i mean a bike worth somewhere in 40 - 50k range and giving a mileage of approx 55- 60 kmpl can be replaced by a car worth 1.2lakh+ and giving a mileage of 23 [ under test conditions ].......... on road we cannot comment!!

no commuter can dream of it friends
even the r15 gives better mileage

untill n unless peolpe are commuting in numbers....... etc
so i dont think it will affect the commuter segment

                        and also
how can anyone compare the r15 n nano
even though costs are nearly the same

r15 is a status symbol........... a performer.............. a class thing
people who buy are definitely bike enthusiasts i think
otherwise there are maruti car available for nearly 30 - 50 k
people would go for it !!!!!!!!! not the r15

i think nano can only affect the second hand car market
and the maruti will suffer a serious set back

n the only way it can affect the bike market is some parents preferring nano for their children instead of " DANGEROUS BIKES "..

we cant predict even a simple thing at the moment
the pros n cons of nano will decide it is a HIT performance wise or not
sales wise it will break WORLD RECORDS .......making tata one of the richest car co of the world...... nano might also be start being exported
Hope is a good thing ,
may be the best of things and
no good thing ever dies .

Get busy living or get busy dying .

Not exactly related to the discussion that's going on.. but still..
"A new car, EcoCa, is set to challenge Tata Nano price and claim the title of world’s cheapest car. A little known company is planning to launch a 340cc two-seater petrol car priced at $2200 or Rs 1 lakh to claim the title of “world’s cheapest car.” the company is looking for a joint-venture partner in India to sell the car in the Indian auto market. “We have identified India as a lucrative market to achieve our price target of $2,200 which will also help us earn healthy profit margins,” said Karman M Naghdi, MD of EcoCa Ltd. He also stated that some car makers have shown keen interest in the car after viewing its performance, safety features and mileage.

The new EcoCa has been developed with an investment of Rs 60 crores and features automatic transmission and a convertible roof. The design and style are said to be inspired from VW Beetle. The company has not revealed any pictures of its new car so far. As per the technical details available about the car, it is made from lightweight and high strength ABS plastic. The fiber body is resistant to heat and chemicals. As per the company claims, the car is capable of delivering a mileage of 27-28 kmpl against Nano’s 23.5 kmpl fuel efficiency. It is capable of achieving a top speed of 70 kmph and has already cleared crash tests in Europe."

To hell with nano. The indian roads already logged with number of vehicles will get clogged like anything. There will be no space left for the bikers.

Yes. If nano wont then some other such super mini segment car will surely hurt the motorcycle sales. I mean we are missing the bigger picture here as we are a motorcycling community. The common man will always prefer these super minis to a bike as they are rider by need not by choice! And about those who say (not say as much as curse) nano for congestion in cities will find that these nanos on the other hand will bring better roads and public transport to their metros, grater tax advantages to them, will improve the service and quality of the product from their dealers (obviously by reducing the number of customers) and will certainly add to their sex appeal by 50-60%!

IMHO there is a reason why there are fewer riders in developed world then drivers.
                              When in doubt...... Gas it!

Considering the traffic in India, I will stick to my bike for daily commute. These cars will only worsen the already worse traffic here.
