(1) Projectors works fine with normal bulbs. Till 2 years back, you could see just few cars with HID, but most of the Skodas even then were Projectors.Originally posted by avinrichards View Post

I think mounting them side by side like R15 is a better option, just my opinion.Originally posted by pavanchirmade View PostBeen There, Done That; Better!

There's has been lot of talk on Projectors. I would like to add that Projectors also have drawbacks, especially in case aftermarket chineese one.
(1) Projectors Lens quality can actually reduce the intensity of light. Thicker lenses makes things worse. Even good projectors lenses can turn to be worse if it does not matches the arc of the bulb.
(2) There Projectors known as BI-Xenon Projectors, where usually as solenoid which moves the shutter to make use of hi/low beams.
(3) Projector Lenses, may change colour temperature, usually reducing. In other words a light source may look more yellowish when put in projectors.
It's important to take in consideration that Projectors, were invented with the first priority of reducing the glare for oncoming traffic.Been There, Done That; Better!

Now a days I am seeing atleast 1 bike daily with HIDs in Pune, and the glare is bad. Also, somehow the light spread ahead is not great either, like the one seen in projector fitted cars. That's why I started to plan fitting a projector in the headlight beam.Originally posted by abhijeet080808 View PostYeah, only thing is that the beam will spread a little and will not be as focused. While this will not bother you as much, oncoming vehicles will feel the glare! Other than that, projectors are not really needed!
In Pune, some guys are fitting HIDs in bike for 3200, without any warranty. 3200 for no warranty kit seems too costly, isn't it?

ok cooll. thanks rahul..
now tell me ..
which projectors use low beam : laura is all i know of and i guess sonata ones also.
which projectors use high beam ? : ??
now if i buy a low beam projector and remove the block for the high beam , would i get the high beam also ?- You spend half your life before you realize your are ordinary, you then, either are too lazy to change or you do the extraordinary and change the world!

All the cars having projectors use it for low beams only, some are bi-xenon projectors, and some have separate projectors for hi/low beams.Originally posted by avinrichards View Postok cooll. thanks rahul..

But mostly Projectors are used only for low beams. Even the Audi A6 uses Projectors for low beam only.Been There, Done That; Better!

But the thing to remember here is whether you remove the shield or not, you just cannot get both beams in one projector except the ones with solenoid shields which can move for both beams. The conventional dual filament bulbs are useless in projectors.
BUT YES YOU CAN CONVERT A LOW BEAM PROJECTOR WITH A SHIELD TO A HIGH BEAM ONE BY REMOVING THE SHIELDLast edited by pavanchirmade; 10-09-2009, 05:14 PM.

To the best of my knowledge, if the projector shield is in the bottom part it will be low beam. So if u invert the projector it has to be high beam. So when u remove the shutter it should be both high and low together.Originally posted by pavanchirmade View PostBut the thing to remember here is whether you remove the shield or not, you just cannot get both beams in one projector except the ones with solenoid shields which can move for both beams. Sample of Projector work i am working on my Unicorn comes like this.
Suggestions are welcome

Jokes apart, it's really a commendable job.
I don't think if you invert the projector it will become high beam, we need straight beam patter for high beam.
What are specific beams there in that setup? Putting a Ellipsoidal
beam on that lower seems to be good, and you can use both of those projectors for low beam?

Btw what i have done is...
Top 2 projectors, 1 is low beam and other is inverted. ( Couldn't remove shutter from it
)
Big one in middle, have removed the shutter
So u calculate what beams they are...
Ellipsoidal Beam - Can u explain a bit more. Some things go above my head
AND I had called u last Sunday, cell switched off..!!

Also a battery. the 7Ah battery on the uni wont survive bi-xenons.
But seriously the headlight looks cool
! Love this thread, especially the lighting on Rahul's bike.
@Rahul, knowing b'lore cops havent you been stopped yet ? Of course its safe cause its in a projector but still that's really bright, reaaaaaaallly bright.A man's testosterone level is directly proportional to bhp that he's using on his motorcycle.
