    A little homework for you..
    The speedo has a
    1. Microcontroller MC908LJ24
    2. EEPROM 24LC01BSN
    3. IC AC04

Iam interested in the odo reading & want to reset mine to zero. If iam not wrong the memory is the EEPROM. Can u research & tell me which is the reset pin? I got fried reading the huge data sheets. Might be useful for a lot of people here..!!
    Hey,
IMHO it is not advisable to reset the EEPROM memory the reason being the EEPROM might contain lot of default settings which helps in the operation of the whole unit.

If you get to find a way to reset that particular location in the EEPROM which stores the ODO reading that will be good, but finding & reseting a specific location without cahnging the s/w is by no means an easy job.

So dont try to reset the EEPROm, you might end up killing the unit.

The above is just my opinion & i might be wrong if so guys please feel free to correct me.

I'm not that geek, in electronics.. may be abhijeet can help up here.
But for resetting the meter do we really need to reset EEPROM? I mean, can there well be a function to reset it?

Anyway.. let me see what can be done?

I am sure there will be function to reset, but i doubt we will be able to find it from the user manual (atleast for reseting the ODO).

May be should tip someone in the SVC to find the sequence to reset it.

By the who is the manufacturer of the speedo unit?

Expecting the SVC guys to know, how to reset the odo, is defiantly asking for the moon.

There's a Speedo Console testing equipment, however I doubt resetting the speedo function would be open.

I wanted to type something else instead of SVC had to refrian myself from doing that.

Agree with you reseting the ODO part, it wont be such an open function/sequence.

Had read some where in the RTR/FI ownership thread some one was able to reset few parameters (not sure if its the odo or the top speed data) when he was randomly pressing few buttons

              hm..

In pulsars.. there's only button. That's for trip meter reseting

If iam not wrong during the reset only the counter is reset. So not much of risk involved. But who knows...

I guess so.. All i know u need to reset either of the IC's for reseting the memory to 0.

Anyways, the test speedo went kaput while playing with it. So started working on my speedo. Finally it cracked..
The worst part is that the led's which i have work on 3 volts & the stock led's work on 2V. So i need to get rid of the inbuilt resistors now.

I think my LED's work in 3.6V and for some similar reason, if I solder the LEDs they do not work. At the same, some of the LEDs after soldering do work, some do not, but all of them still remain fine. Can it be that the LED are in serial?

It's the same "mobile LCD" thing in Pulsars. It can be done. If possible show us the picture of an Open FZ meter.

Ok, sorry for this really newbie question, but please, please tell me how to get the console out. I'm very comfortable stripping the rest of the bike, except of course the engine, and the speedo console, headlight fairing.

Its a P180 UG3. After removing the 6 screws of the console, i cannot get it out because the handle holder assembly and the headlight fairing blocks it. No difference even if i remove the translucent windsheild. The problem is compounded by the fact that the fairing is held by nuts hidden by the console.

Maybe im doing something wrong, please, please help me.

You will need to remove bolts on the either side of the dome near the indicators.
