Re: Electrical Modification on Hero Honda Passion.
Oh i missed these questions, sorry for that but i don't got any alert as no one quoted me or pm'd me untill amit01 in last post. Also got busy in profession so less checking in, so the delay.
Sorry to hear about your accident.Originally posted by hoot View PostHi all
This is my first post and I apologize for bumping this very old thread in advance, but I thought this was the right place to post it, if it's not, mods please move it to appropriate place
I have a hero Honda passion pro 2009 power start model (the very first passion pro, with good old passion plus tail lights and not the apdv model with half digital console)
2 months ago I met with an accident due to low lights of bike and decided that the very first thing I'll do when get well is upgrade it to hid, mechanic told me it was possible by upgrading the battery from stock 5AH to 7ah, and so I bought an exide 7AH battery worth 1380 /- and an 35W hid with halogen/xenon combo worth 800 /- , but when mechanic installed it the hid(xenon bulb) would produce an irritating sound of "kirrr-kirrr" when upper is pressed, halogen worked fine on dipper but very little illumination as well as xenon when pass button is pressed, mechanic admitted he never worked on passion pro hid fitting before and it would work flawlessly on a pulsar, the jugaad he suggested (and ultimately performed was) install a switch on headlights cowl which will turn on or off the hid and told me to not use the upper/dipper switch ,I was disappointed and turned to look at internet if any information is available on this matter
Miraculously I stumbled upon this thread and learned a lot, about AC-> DC conversion, stator coil rewinding, pulsar ug4 rr and such
The thing is I have no idea how many poles are there on my passion pro,(is it the same as the guy who did it with his 2012 model passion pro?) how thick a wire I need to rewind it? what sort of connections are there from stator coil, (and I'm sure where I live ,nobody has attempted such a feat on passion pro 2009,although I'd be happy to be wrong, I live in bhilai, (C. G.) BTW)
So that was the whole case
Now I would like some help on
1.converting this passion pro to full DC
2.change bike's remaining lighting to LED (indicator, console and tale lights ) ( @above all I'm looking at you for help)
3.would like to install additional 10-15 watt fog lamps on leg guards
I've already been punished for not taking low candlelight headlights seriously and I don't want to repeat this mistake
I'm a total noob when it comes to bike modifications and wiring so please be patient with me
Any help is greatly appreciated

You optimised for wrong setup mate , Get LED OR HID setup . Hid + Halogen combo is waste as switching HID on draws more current so when you do upper dipper it pulls more current from battery.
By default IIRC you bike has AC headlight but pressing pass switch provides direct battery supply to High Beam.
I think when your mechanic installed HID+Halo combo if he has taken supply for headlight switch from the wire which providing supply to pass light switch you won't gonna get khir khir or other sound & no need to install any extra switch.
As your passion pro has 5ah battery by default i think there should be no issue of dc conversion, just put HID or LED bulb & reroute headlight supply wire to pass light supply wire & check if it dries your battery if some night city riding ? Don't forget to switch to LED's in parking, meter, brake light to have some battery juice saved. And do this checking within city so if battery is dried you atleast have street light to see road & reach home safely. Or have torch in bag.
If it dries battery then you have to DC conversion. For it What you need to do is get both coil end ( starting & ending ) connected to DC RR & use big battery & then fed headlight supply through battery. Its plain simple. Just check the very first post on first page .
As far LED pilot considered they are T10 in passion change all 7 (1parking+1speedo+1fuel+1highbeam+1neutral+2indica tor) And also change Brake light check local market they are available cheaper than online if you find right shop.
For 10/15 watt crashguard lights get Cree LED Aux Lights. Check some last pages https://www.xbhp.com/talkies/univers...d-etc-555.html
But remember don't go for HID+Halogen Combo for headlight.
Yours is a 2009 Passion Pro , i have no idea about its stator details as of now. Get help of sibun he is nice guy with lots of information in bag.
Trust me its not that much difficult, it's a kind of DIY job. What you need to do is get both coil end ( starting & ending ) connected to DC RR & use big battery & then fed headlight supply through battery. Its plain simple. Just check the very first post on first page . If know little about electric's then you can easily do it.Originally posted by amit01 View PostHi there!!!
can i know where can i get this modification done in south mumbai???
i tried convincing my local mechanic for complete dc conversion, but he was unable to do it, said it is not possible
can anybody help me?
thanks in advance...
What help you need ? Its Simple job check this thread.Originally posted by ayypankumar View PostHey any one help me to increase the visibility in hero Honda passon 2001

Which bike you have ? Why you done rewinding ? Isn't you getting enough power by simply ungrounding & removing center tap and using DC RR ?Originally posted by amit01 View Posthi,

i took help from local mechanic...
i did rewinding locally as well...
i purchased DJ 201102 RR for 630/-
as well but mechanic was unable to replace it with old RR... battery got discharged when he did it, also current was very little from new RR compared to 11-12.5 V from old RR ???
mechanic was unable to do connections with the help of wiring diagram provided...
so far, The mods i have already done are .
Battery = 12V 5A 1100/-
Turn Signal = 12 V 10W*4 to equivalent LED's 4 for 120/-
Meter light / fuel indicator light = 12 V 1.7W*2 to equivalent LED's 2*20/-
Neutral Indicator = 12 V 3W to equivalent LED's 1*20/-
Turn signal indicator ( RH + LH ) = 12 V 1.7W*2 to equivalent LED's 2*20/-
Position lamp = 12 V 3W to equivalent LED's 50/-
Hi Beam Indicator = 12 V 1.7W 20/-
and installed Cree Fog lamp for 1300/- a pair, which are really good in performance... connections are on key switch most of them... maybe all of them...
what to do about RR? (wiring confusing to mechanic, I have no idea whats so ever about it... I don't know anything about bike electricals)
Headlight (LED?)
Break Light/Tail Light (no help
nothing could be found at Lamington Road)
Thanks a Lot for replying... awaiting for further advice...Last edited by amit01; 02-12-2016, 03:15 PM.

Re: Electrical Modification on Hero Honda Passion.
You got wrong RR. To convert to full DC you need Pulsar UG4 "DJ201202" RR, Its a 4 wire RR.Originally posted by amit01 View PostI bought second (or many

Your rewinding works seems to be bad also. Is your passion has 3 pole charging coil ?
If so & you have done rewinding of it then let it keep outside of this DC conversion.
Get a new 3 pole coil. Now check it the poles have copper wire on it which is contineous for 3 poles.
That is started from first pole continue to second & third.
Starting Terminal of copper wire from first pole is left open to connect wire. Connect the required wire to it.
On the middle pole there is one terminal out where normally yellow wire is connected. Don't connect yellow wire there just cover this terminal with tape.
Last terminal from third pole is earthed/grounded there. Remove that grounding connection & connect yellow wire to it.
Use good taping to both connection wire connection.
Now remove petrol tank. You will find Stock RR. Remove its connection. Good thing is the socket connecting to stock RR is direct fit to Pulsar UG4 "DJ201202" RR.
Just the wiring is different. So remove the clips from UG4 RR from its socket & rearrange them in same socket as per our new connection.
That is if i remember correctly then 2Gray wire in pulsar RR will be connected to Stator Wires ( the one from first pole of coil & other is yellow from last pole of coil.)
Remaining 2 wires will be to battery connection which are present in stock RR socket. After rearranging wires in Pulsar UG4 "DJ201202" RR then only connect it to Passion RR connection socket.
Now open Headlight assembly & locate 3 wire socket which has headlight supply wire IIRC its yellow wire coming from RR connection . Disconnect it & tape it. Now get +ve supply from Switch & fed it to that headlight supply socket.
Additionally you can disconnect the Resistor connection which is under the seat near tail grab rail bolts.
And now i hope you will get sufficient voltage across battery terminals.
For brakelight you can get led one from lamington road. I purchased from there. Check my last 2/3 post in Let there be light thread i have posted pic of it along with LED headlights.

Re: Electrical Modification on Hero Honda Passion.
My mechanic still could not understand about RR's... I think I will note down these points and show it to him so that he can understand...Originally posted by Above_All View PostYou got wrong RR. To convert to full DC you need Pulsar UG4 "DJ201202" RR, Its a 4 wire RR.
about stop light to convert in LED... there are no ready made solutions available, not I could find at Lamington road... mechanic says that stop light has two filaments in single enclosure so it is not possible to change it to led....
any suggestions on how to fix this....

Re: Electrical Modification on Hero Honda Passion.
================================================== =========Originally posted by Above_All View PostI have a Hero Honda Passion 2002 model . I want to make some electrical modifications to it .
The Electrical & lights details of it are
Battery = 12V 2.5 AH
Alternator = Flywheel A.C. generator
Headlight ( High / Low ) = 12 V 35/35W
Tail/Stop light = 12 V 5/10W
Turn Signal = 12 V 10W*4
Meter light / fuel indicator light = 12 V 1.7W*2
Neutral Indicator = 12 V 3W
Turn signal indicator ( RH + LH ) = 12 V 1.7W*2
Position lamp = 12 V 3W
Hi Beam Indicator = 12 V 1.7W
The mods i have already done are .
A pair of Roots Vibrosonic Horns with relay .
A pair of rainbow lamps .
I wanted to make it completely DC , to get a good strong focus from my headlight instead of the candle light .
================================ UPDATE ================================
Thanks to sajit , shreeni , utkarsha , shoeb & all who cleared the doubts i got it done .
For the new comers to this thread what we need to done is 4 things for complete DC conversion .
1) In alternator / coil unground the grounded wire , remove the center tap yellow wire & connect that yellow wire to the ungrounded terminal. If you do rewinding with a higher guage wire then it would be good .
2) Change the stock RR to a complete DC RR . I used a pulsar UG4 rr part no. DJ201202 .
3) Reroute the ac supply wire of headlight to key switch dc connection .
4) Change the battery to higher one , i used a 12v 5ah battery .
*) Additionally it is good if you can change all other pilot light , meter lights , brake light etc to led's / smd led's .
For getting clear on this 4 things check this thread .

Re: Electrical Modification on Hero Honda Passion.
It will help thousands of people if you make a tutorial video on this. It seems really complicated for an amateur like me. I am pretty sure my mechanic will not follow this guide properly and mess up everything. Please take my request into consideration.Originally posted by ramprasathbang View Post================================================== =========
