The excitement was short lived because after few days, the light started to flicker and go off after 10-15 min ride. Later I found the light was not a problem but the battery was. The new battery was almost dead after the light went off...!
I had checked the battery at exide showroom, and was shocked to see the battery charge going down when the throttle was raised (even with lights off).
The mechanic tried to find out if there if something was wrong with the rectifier but everything was fine. He has asked me to run with the stock light and check if battery goes down. Back on halogen, so far the battery seems to be fine though I did not check the output with multimeter.
I am yet to go back to the mechanic. He was confident there cannot be anything wrong with the connection since all are fool-proof sockets in the electricals. He might suggest me to install a "cut-out", wonder how it could help... Can anybody tell me what could be wrong...

santhoshxtra.. razor had told you had put on the HID but surprisingly you face the same problem....
Maruthi-800 when I installed 100/90 Halogen bulbs with additional relay. During night driving, switching on the Head lights slows the car a little and in the morning I find the battery very weak. Also after a couple of months the bulb wiring sockets burnt out( could not handle the extra current). Reinstalliing the standard bulbs solved the problem. BTW the battery was brand new.
