Did anyone figure out how the BCU has been designed internally? I came across a case where a P220 FI's BCU failed and itseems the guy went to a popular electrician who bypassed the BCU! Now everything works perfectly.

Iam trying to source a BCU at a low price & see what is there inside.

Actually the BCU works as solid state relays. I think the BCU can be bypasses barring one feature- Auto Cancelling indicators.

I have my UG3's BCU lying around.. but cutting it is pain. Fine let me open it, whenever I get time. Will put up the pictures. But then I suggest it deserves another thread.. no point hijacking this one.

I feel its not that difficult. U can always use a blower & melt the sides.

The ckts will be embedded in epoxy (m-seal) You need acetone (nail polish remover) to melt that.

                Guys!!! I have a June 2008 Pulsar 200.
I replaced my stator coil with Avenger 180 coil as mentioned.. and put on the Philips Premium 60 bulb..

But I started facing issues thereon.
For a first few days, everything was fine. Then after a few days.. battery indicator started flashing every now and then like when indicator or horn was ON for long time. During night when headlights were on and as expected the battery went kaput after some 10-12 days..
I thought as battery was already 2.5 yrs old, so thought of ignoring issue and bought the new Exide Bikerz battery some 15-20 days back.
And now again I am facing the same battery drain issue...

As per my service manual, the electrical system is shown as DC electrical system. When I enquired with Sinhagad probiking, the guy over there said that its AC only.

Please help.. I am planning to switch back to original stator coil and 35 bulb..

Yep, Avy coil does not work on P200. Get the old set up back and go for HID if you want.

Well thanks for quick reply.. Now I know my P200 is not up for this mod. And I have to seriously think about HIDs now...

But I know one of P200 (purchased much before mine) running quite well with this set up.. Why that is so?
Is it something like some older P200s have different electrical systems than the relatively newer ones...

No, all P200s have the same AC + DC setup.

But how is it that this setup is not working? I have seen 200's with this setup and plenty of people here have done it on their bikes, so this could be a case of some bad wiring or something...

If the HL is not connected to the battery at all then it should not be the reason for the low battery.

                        Any thoughts on this?

Sorry to contradict you bro, but the Avenger coil supports the P200 perfectly well. It supports the UG2 UG3 and the P200 flawlessly. Don't know about the older editions though .but about UG3 and the P200 I am damn sure. Seems like Pushkar has a problem with a conked off RR.

@Pushkar: The guys @ Probiking have equipment to test all the electrical/electronic components. Take your bike there and get the RR tested. If you are a DIY junkie like Abhijeet,Nano or me,
                          1. get a multimeter and set it to AC volts mode, select the 600V range,
2.disconnect the red terminal from the battery and connect the Red probe of the multimeter to the red wire just disconnected from the battery
                          3. Connect the black probe of the multimeter to any non painted metal surface of the bike or the chassis itself,
4.Start the engine. If you get some reading on the multimeter, note down the readings at idling, at 2000RPM, 4000RPM and 6000RPM and post the data here.
5.Next do the ampere test as suggested by Nano here http://www.xbhp.com/talkies/490755-post14.html
With this data, the experts here can help you better

Abhi, I think he is right. If its an AC+DC setup then Avy coil should support. If its a UG4 only full DC in picture and it cant be supported, else it should glow and charge the batt as usual. Check the RR and the battery as Pavan advised at a battery servicing centre.
