Rajesh, Nano is rite the performance of hid with projectors is awesome u can check the pixz posted by him on the previous page it seems as if a plane is landing on runway .

AFAIK you can still use the hid on stock reflectors converting your bike's light on dc setup. As your bike is GS same as a xbhp member who has installed hid on his bike with successful response. Please contact animeher he will xplain you what needs to be done.

P.S animeher is a cool guy and more than helpful in my case as i had contacted him coz we both bought the same hid frm a same seller.

Mate can you tell me what is the difference between the bulb tht goes up and down and the one tht swings back and forth. further (during long runs your battery will run flat..
it would settle you down for ever...) does that mean that i will be all set or will the battery be damaged. Also my usage during night is not more than an hour's drive from my office.


Now let me tell you something what happened in my case my hid came with a relay and it had two wires which went to battery i think that made it DC (blue was for earthing and red to the battery positive) further my hid bulb had two wires instead of 3. one was connected to the bike earthing and the other one was connected to the bikes hi.lo together this is the part tht went wrong as a result mine is on high only will rectify this 2marrow as when i tried to fix it using a different mech the bulb has stopped lighting but swings up and down .

Will try 2marrow thrugh the guy who had it fitted originally or ele will get it replaced through the seller as the fuse is not blown which means either there is a problem with connection or the a problem with relay or the kit itself.

dude, please get coil rewinding done, and swap your bulb to the one moving back and forth..
during long runs your battery will run flat..
it would settle you down for ever...

have you converted your GS to full dc mate?
do it as soon as possible, and trust me guys, hid's in stock reflectors are not good, later on you all won't be happy with the performance..


please please all don't settle down for these grease monkey's wiring mods..
do it the right way, and keep it like that for ages...
we all here have done coil-rewinding and ape rr installation for a reason fellas..
projectors are unbeatable in spread....
awesome for city use..

HS1 is H4 so go ahead and get the H4 HID BiXenon kit for your bike. But this bulb is not at all compatible with any of the projectors in case you decide to go for projectors.

i found my stock bulb is of HS1 so which HID i can go for ? and yeah i can retain everything even if i go for projectors later on

Mate you may be right but let me tell you the upward and down swing is capable of the desired effect as during high beam it is parallel t0 the road and in low beam the setting the hid is awesome too. You are right my hid kit was sent along with relay and wiring harness

Hey Ani! Yes dude I did install the Hid on my steed! Much against your advice wherin i chose a mechanic who had never seen an Hid so skip the part wherin we can assume that he has some experience installing it. but over all I could say he did manage to hook it up but was able to lit the beam on High beam only and as i was too in hurry so i am planning to rectify it today! Btw apart from the already mentioned problem I see that (in my two days of usage experience) the beam fails miserably in smoke or fog all you see is a white board.Even exhaust from trucks can blur your vision to some extent as that smoke too can not be penetrated. No battery drain issues noted as of now not once did the bulb flicker......

AFAIK the bulb that swings up and down doesn't give proper focusing. That is the reason its not used widely. But it has to do some change in focusing atleast. Are you able to observe the change in focus may it be minor?

Did the kit come with relay and wiring harness ? If yes there is no way to mess the wiring bcz its just plug and play. You CAN'T go wrong.

Hey Mujeeb, finally you put up that HID huh The connection of upper and dipper are bit tricky to get, so you will have to work with mech and play around the settings unless you get the proper working of the bulb.

ok what what u guys will suggest ... try h4 hid ( let be bi or single with halogen) or directly go for projector ?

in projector def i need to cut reflector etc. Please give some ideas.

I have been following this thread for so long now! I especially like posts from sajit, nano and other such ppl! i think it is not the right place to post this question still let me try my luck

I was so tempted to try Hid but did not want to get an coil rewinding done so i ordered an 4300k hid without any second thoughts. I got my Hid from vivek a seller based from Delhi. Sajit had already seen that guys product illustration in some other post ( the hid bulb which swings up and down instead of back and forth)

My question is i simply hooked my hid kit on Honda unicorn a AC setup bike and the mechanic connected it to the pass light or indicators power supply though i am nt 100% sure which one is it. Now my hid is on high beam only and it does not go to low beam. No matter what i do it adjusts itself to high beam. Btw i do see the bulb swing to downward side if i hit the low beam button but somehow it swings back to high beam.

Any thoughts guys rite now i am concerned about how to make it work properly will tackle issues like battery drain later on.. This stuff on high beam is a complete cop magnet . I have to switch off the headlight while passing check naka though i have just used it for 1 day!

I've seen R15 with hid's in stock reflectors and its $#it....
my low beam can beat it (tried and tested)
even your setup will give such pathetic scatter it not used projectors...

you already know the DC conversion part, so go ahead and try projectors...

yes shreeni, hurting eyes is one thing, but focussing the beam on thier eyes is another...
hence i have focused it downwards...

but still it goes pretty far.....

i can switch to a bit more higher setup on touring or on highways outside mumbai....

i've got a P18OUGIII... i added an R15 headlight/fairing on just so that i could have better lighting. i've held off on the lighting mod so far.

my P18O is AD/DC... so i'm guessing this is what i need to have done.

- convert to all DC
- coil rewinding
- switch to HIDs (4300K)
- anything else?

just wondering if the HID setup will affect the R15 headlight lens over time?!?

i'm also considering using the HID with projectors.

any other suggestions?

Nano - How much ever u lower P220's beam it will hurt oncomers eyes I have saw Rahul Devnath's twin beam mod (He was the first in xBhp to do this) on his 220. You must see truckies cursing him (special thanks to 6000k HID)
