@sajan - yeah, my dc setup is running without any problems. Thanks to all of you out there for your help.
Regarding the comparo... we didnt do that much in the Munnar G2G. But I can say that the HID with glare cap is quite tame! Hehe..

And with my personal experience with 6000K and 4300K HIDs, 4300K is the best. 6000K is ok if you are running in dry weather and the atmosphere is clear... fog, heavy rain etc will render it practically useless.
But I guess most of us here know these things...

Its not possible AFAIK, as 180's got a AC ignition coil but on 220 its got a digital ignition so there wont be any ignition coil to fire ur pistons.

Here's typical 150/180 coil, Bigger coil with cloth covered is the ign coil which is a must.

Here's P220 Stator Coil, note that its not having a ign coil on that.

And size wise also its not possible so that part is ruled out.

Oh, that was meant for Lijo, recently he converted his ride to full DC. Hey man, how was the TCI was performing with the lights on? I know its happy with the current setup else, we would've seen a query on this. Hope everything ok, still I want to hear it from horse's mouth

Lijo, how was the Munnar ride with HIDs, share ur views with the different CT HIDs as u & Ashik were having a balanced CT of 4.3K, where Ranjit was screwing with a 6K, how was the visibility? Don't know about others status hence not mentioning it. Atleast u should give a comparison between these two on all weathers as it can help others in choosing the right CT.

I heard that the hill top was like a stadium flood lights once u guys were posed for photo.

p220 has 18 poles against 7 poles or your stator, so what it can do is in its own world.

i have no intention of keeping the HIDs on in traffic...
or anywhere where there is proper lighting.

so i'm hoping the battery will hold up.
will be using it on highways and places that are under-lit or unlit.

    so lets try it....
well... just thinking out loud here...
    my bike's got stock 12V 9AH battery.

and the stock lighting is as follows...
    • Headlight: 35W
    • Parking Lights: 5W+5W
    • Number plate light: ?W ???
    • Digiconsole: etc.
    • switch backlighting: etc.
    • LED tail-light: etc.

i don't have a horn on the bike.
negligible saving i know... just thot i'd mention it.

so taking into consideration the fact that...
i've removed parking lamps and the number plate bulb.

which is prolly saving atleast 15W...

    so that's like what?... 35W+15W = 50W that's usable for the headlight.

and since the P22O manages two HIDs with it's stock coil...
i'm really hoping the recoiling holds up the 70W on mine.

P.S: by the way... isn't the re-winding done with 19 guage wire?

    as u know already... my bike's a P18OUGIII.

i'm looking to run two 35W HIDs simultaneously.
i've taken off the paring bulbs... coz i just din't want them. (din't want LEDs too)

    what setup do you suggest?

and no... don't want angel eyes. looks way too 'aftermarket'.
and everyone's doing it anyway... so din't want
    to.
    the same was my case....

jokes apart, yes you will need to get coil rewinding done, but keeping both the bulbs on in traffic will cause battery draining issues...

we can get the work done, I'll ask my coil guy to keep a stator winded with a 18 guage wire for you, so that you can just pick it up anytime rather then opening your stator and waiting for hours to get the winding finished (as other xbhpians have faced), you very well know the remaining drill...

yup. halos. temp solution until i get the coil prepped for HIDs.

    yea they do look small...
but that's just in the pic... coz of the angle the pic was taken from.

they're the same projectors used in a merc E series... standard hella size.

similar diameter size as the ones on the R1.
so in no way do they look small... in the flesh.

No, you can keep hid running at all the time, hours and days and weeks too if you keep the engine running hile using the headlamps.....
they pull the same power as halogen does (35w ones)
