      • My Steeds .....

Two of my babies ...both are superb and RE is the best among all Indian made bikes. Though I think that Royal Enfield should work more on the quality of the bikes as they are now a part of our heritage.

                • Our RE Std (2000)

After months of persuasion I have finally convinced my dad and got hold of his RE std.

Long story short, he wanted me to buy a new one (AVL ones) as it will not have all the associated problems of maintaining a "Bullet". He even sold this bike to somebody so that I will buy a new one. I booked a CL350 half heartedly and started convincing my dad why I wanted a CI only and hence the very same bull. Finally we bought it back from him (paid a premium too) and asked him to send it to me in Pune.

Attached pics is when I got it from the logistics company.

                  Details -
                  Feb 2000 make.
Hardly 15k on the odo - My dad bought it just because it was his childhood dream to own a bullet and it was never the primary mode of trnasport for him.
                  Mods -
                  Alloys fitted back in 2k5
                  New Handle Bar
                  Split Seats

                  Suggestion required -

I prefer to remove the pillion seat when riding solo so I want to change the tail lamp to "phantom" one (pic attached). I have sourced this lamp but it doesn't fit on the mudguard. Precisely speaking, the bores to fit it are too long.
Is there any after market housing/bracket available too which can help it stick on the STD's mudguard nicely? OR drilling holes in the mudguard the only option? Alternatively, If you know any bullet specialist in Pune who can do this job neatly, then please let me know

                  Cheers!

                  Keep thumping.

Mean time i had read on a popular diesel bike forum that the flywheel weight can be lowered by ~25% on these engines. They had experimented by reducing the weight in steps (not dia but thickness) keeping an eye on smooth idling. point being auto engines don't need flywheel weight of a stationary engine. This also improves throttle response. May be u can try with a spare used flywheel.
you are right, obviously you can reduce the Flywheel weight on the face instead of Outer dia, will increase the throttle response ( but mind the are pros & cons)...Faster acceleration & also Faster deceleration
More than that your fuel injection system should be calibrated ( may also need major mods) to suit the modified crank set up!!
Above all, just mere reducing the weight of the flywheel, without dynamic balancing of the whole crank set-up, will lead to adverse results

So, just giving a try like mere weight reduction with a spare fly wheel is not advisable.....Have serious intention....prepare your self...source the facility you need...take up the project !!

pps: If you feel this flywheel thing is going to hyjack this thread..plz catch up me via PM

                              • Hello All. I am coming back to this website after really long time. I will definitely try to be more regular

I own a 2007 Royal Enfield Thunderbird (AVL) with TCI Iginition. I call it "Black birdie" it has done 43,000 Kms and is running purely stock. I love the riding position and the cruiser styling of it. I had also put a RD replica handle bar on it, but now it is back to to its original handle.

I also own a 2009 Royal Enfield Machismo 500 (AVL). I call it "Optimus Prime" it has done 33,00 Kms and has the following modifications
                                1) Removed the catcon and the hot tube
                                2) PAV blocked
                                3) Put a Goldstar silencer with baffle
                                4) Replaced the OEM air filter with Standard air filter

I love the torque in it, especially mid range.

                                Let's Ride...
