Gulf and Yamalube are both good 20w40s , you can choose any . I prefer the yamalube because I know it's relabeled motul(3000 4t plus) and that there is no chance of getting fake oil from a yamaha authorised service center which is known to me and it's very near my home . Yamalube I got is mineral SL , MA2 20w40 .. very good oil @ 1900kms now on my bike . Rs 220.00 for a liter bottle . They also sell semi and fully synthetics but I never enquired about those .
thanks for the reply.....i live in Bangladesh here i dont get wide variety of choices for engine oils as you lucky people do.we dont even have any FS oil for bikes. here people even uses mobil special, HPX(for cars) in their bikes. i'm satisfied with my 10w30 grade oil but my next engine oil would definitely be 20w40 & going to use it over 1000kms to feel the change.

this year i switched to shell advance AX3 20W40... and biliv me increased smothness as well as heat reduction is remarkable... 2 weeks back i had been to lavasa (45 kms off pune).....and the bike ws jst awesome...didnt felt any heating on my legs and as i said...the engine growl+ smoothness ws just awesome....
i would certainly advice to go fr an oil change to 20W40
well in my trips i never felt warmness in my legs, maybe it cant pierce through my jeans.to be honest i never felt it. but i'll use 20w40 grade this time for sure
    thanks so much to everyone.....

The 110/90 tyre fits on the hunk.
You can also fit the 120size tyre but you will have to remove the chain guard and you wont be able to use it in slush...

I have pirelli scorpion installed on mine with 110 size... Fitted without any problem...

first of all, welcome to the family.. we would like to know more about you. Please introduce yourself.

Regarding run-in, you are now too slow. You can do 45, no probs. Stay within 4k rpm, accelerate gently, and keep a check on engine temp. Also, warm up the engine nicely before moving off, esp. In the morning.

              Ride safe.

Congrats !! Please read owners' manual fully and understand the bike in detail. As sooraj said, keep RPM below 4000 for use right gear at right speed and don't cross 45-50kmph speed. If you have well lit roads, take the bike for 10km ride during nights and due to low traffic you can give good quality run-in by constant speed of 45kmph in 5th gear (non stop 10km ride)

                • vipin , the owner's manual asks not to ride in constant speed/rpm/gear during run in and to vary these frequently . The risk is of glazing the cylinder .

Sir, I know your concern is about the honing marks on the cylinder bore which plays important role in retaining oil and help lubricate b/w the cylinder wall and piston rings.
Glazing depends mostly on interface temperature b/w the cylinder & piston ring, which in turn depends on the relative velocity b/w the cylinder wall & piston ring. When the engine is new the honing marks will be fresh and rough, only a high speed run will 'melt' down the peak profiles of honing grooves due to higher temperature which will result in what is called glazing. But natural wearing of honing grooves is desirable for efficient sealing b/w the cylinder wall & piston ring. So just keeping lower speed is enough, riding at constant speed cannot cause glazing unless the speeds are very high enough to induces high temperature that oxidizes the oil in the honing grooves.

However I agree that changing gears is also important b'cos gearbox is a different mechanical system which also needs run-in so that all parts gets bedded well.

My achiever manual never says anything about glazing ?

For proper setting in ,the bike RPM and speeds through gears must be varied and taking it to max once in a while, AFTER THE ENGINE is WARMED UP is the proper method...on any gear momentarily closing the throttle and allowing back compression to work on the rings is essential for proper sealing, and bedding in of the rings and bore.Remember to bring the engine to operating temperature before doing any of this procedure.

                      • Greetings. I'm still having a problem with my hunk. The initial starting problem seems to be gone now, but cold start throttle response problem is there, even if the engine is rested for only an hour it happens. And while on the go if clutch is applied some time engine stops, happens frequently. SVC mechs. here are all layman. It's upto me to tell them where the problem is. Folks pls help me.

                        Regards.
