Vibration just above 4K RPM can be due to :
    1. it is the approximate cross over point of pilot to main jet.So if you had set your afr lean this is likely to happen or otherwise there is deposits on the jets with partial jet choking.
    2. If the spark plug cap is bad ,or your plug is old(more than 10 K Kms)or if the plug gap is large, then also vibes can occur.
I am assuming that you shift gears above 3 K RPM and don't lug the engine..ie., don't drive in higher gears at lower RPM.

Ok thanks for that info mate The nearest SC is in kanchipuram town which is useless even for basic servicing so spoke to the head mechanic in vellore SC....he told me as no smoke is coming out it must be the valves. He told me to push start the bike and bring it to vellore (100kms from my place) am gonna do that tomorrow...hope the bike starts without a problem and doesnt leave me stranded in the middle of nowhere .

Don't worry. It wont. Just keep the revs low, to not inflict any further damage.

The valves for my Pulsar cost 300+ INR. This along with a head job would cost around 1.5k in total. Keep us posted.

@ 50-60kmph Hunk sane driving Hunk would easliy return in excess of 50kmpl , engine is untouched so mileage will not change...but with rear disc the rider confidence is higher especially in accelerations, b'cos stopping power is very good.....this in turn leads to sudden acclerations & decelerations especially in city drives....this will reduce mileage....but if you are sane on throttle then 50+ is easily gettable even in city traffic, that's waht AMI does. AMI comes with one more surprise that is, you don't get 60kmpl if you drive at 50kmph in 5th gear on an empty highway, you can get 55kmpl only. So AMI benefits you in actual driving conditions and not rare driving (or assumed) conditions

                    • hii adarshkr,

i have new hunk and it has completed 1400 Kms in 45 days. so i can give brief idea

                      1) engine is smooth upto 100 (in odo). later slowly vibration starts
                      2) sitting posture and suspension d best. ( this is my second hunk, previously had earlier version. so u can understand how comfortable it is)
                      3) regarding mileage.. initially was getting 43 kmpl. after first service got 52 once but mixture was lean. so service guys touched the carburettor and banm problem started. first black smoke then again lean, then engine overheat etc. complained to HH regional manager got it cleared but i was feeling that it was not correct and later by trial and error I got the carb mixture somehow proper. 2 days back i checked my mileage nd it was 52 again ( no lose in power and two additives were there. one for mileage and one with engine oil supplied by HH in their service center)
                      4) without additives i'm getting around 48-49 kmpl ( city driving +50% ride with pillion)
                      5) regarding braking simply awesome. the initial bite is so good that you will come down to stop without even locking. believe me best in class brakes apart from apache and R-15.
                      6) can easily go upto 80. takes some time after that to reach 110 kmph

so anything else you need to know ? overall I'm happy with it. on road 72400 (kolkata)

                        My bike's gears are super-strong..

Pulsars were once known for their troublesome gearbox and thats the main reason I didn't buy one. But now..

Bajaj is doing continuous R&D and the customers are the guinea pigs. They are yet to come up to Honda engine Refinement and Reliability..So have no regrets..

                            • Had a test drive of both HUNK & XTREME.
The Hunk they had for test drive had idling problem so was getting cut off frequently, so couldn't enjoy much. It felt heavy in slow speeds.
The Xtreme on the other hand felt quite nimble but there where vibrations at higher RPM.
What is not clear to me is that since both has the same engine, I was expecting same smoothness from both, so I would like to ask those who have driven both to give their views. Also what is the mileage of these two under city riding condition and what about the availability and cost of spares? Would be buying either of these two or pulsar in 2 weeks.
Adrenaline and petrol can be a lethal combination
