Re: CBZ xtreme / Hunk
Hi,
I am facing an issue with my CBZ Xtreme KVEG 2010.
Whenever the headlight/parking light is OFF the brake light works perfectly.
Problem happens when I turn on the headlight/parking lamp.
Whenever headlight/parking lamp is ON the tail light gets fully illuminated and whenever i apply the brakes(i mean any brake front or rear), the tail light dims.
It's dangerous for me as well as the person coming behind me as he/she will not get to know when i apply the brakes.
I bought this bike 2nd hand a year ago.
I disconnected the brake light switches one by one and checked but there was not any problem with those.
Can anyone help me in this problem ?

Re: CBZ xtreme / Hunk
No need of battery change. You can go for Engine kill switch and DC lighting. I have installed Yamaha fz right hand switchgear on bike for kill switch. I don't like the extra button out of switchgear. Looks cheap . It costed me total 500 . 300 for switchgear and 200 for installing it. My mechanic is my friend from childhood. So he was ready to take money but i forcefully given him 200.
Regarding carb tuning i have followed Sibun . Expert of the experts in our thread . He had posted regarding carb tuning you can see page no 697 in our thread. You will get it .

Re: CBZ xtreme / Hunk
For DC conversion of headlight and kill switch, did you have to upgrade the battery?Originally posted by @Andicator View PostUpdate . Recently got engine kill switch for bike. As far as total changes I have done to my bike
1) got half chain case . Fitted Apache 160 2v chain cover for weight seving . As Cbz Xtreme chain cover is 4 kg heavy.
2) Recently got 0 ring chain sprocket of cb dazzler with 14 teeth front sprocket separately baught. Now combo is 42 back and 14 front. Little Change in sprocket ratio. Bike now making 65 at 5000 rpm instead of 63.
3) Engine reboring has been done year ago (1st oversize with USHA piston) bike feels better than when was new. Carburetor set as per sibun mehod .Thanks Sibun . Also using veedol take off 4T 10w30 oil for engine and motul chain spray for chain sprocket. Engine easily redlines in any gear. Vibrations are little and bearable. Engine is as smooth as unicorn. Also valves and timing chain has been replaced. Spark plug is Ngk g power cpr8ea. Engine reboring has to be done beause of my friend who used my bike for a month carelessly when me with my family was out of town
. My fault.
4) Engine kill switch and headlight is running on DC . Bike
Current running is 43000 km.
5) Tank pad of pulser 150. Small but beautiful upade.
Yesterday i went to Lavasa with my friend. Lavasa ghat is
really blessing for bikers. Beautiful twist and turns . Will update about trip soon.

[QUOTE=@Andicator;1388105][QUOTE=Crank49;1387771]Hi Folks,
It's nearly 9 years since I bought CBZ 2011 Model
Odo is now 36,000 kms
It has been almost smooth except for some unique problems I had. Now as I wish to upgrade the bike, I was considering the following options. Can you people look into it and give some inputs?
- Sell this and buy another bike (This needs to be another post if I have to choose between options)
- This bike has a character. Punchy rev Happy engine and is good handler. I don't know what are the problems you are facing with your bike. But see every problem has a solution. I love my Cbz Xtreme 2011 model. If you are interested in buying new ride then you can look at Hero Xtreme 160r (newest in segment) , Unicorn 160 bs6 (but old design and lack of features and overpriced), TVs Apache 160 4v bs6 .Can't go wrong with any of these.
- Install Joel's kit on the bike, if he is still doing this for CBZ
- I don't have idea about this . But one thing for sure is installing big bore in existing bike will be bad idea .If you do so lot of factors should be taken into consideration. So be prepared, do extextensive research before doing so .
- This one is complicated, I just want to know if some one tried any of these if not all of them
- Install Karizma Cylinder Piston kit
- Change chain and sprocekt to O-Ring chain from Honda siblings
- Make any other modifications like carburetor change or install FI as necessary when replacing the Kit
- Upgrade front headlamp to LED / Projector
- Softer sears for better long distance trips - You can go for Honda dazzler chain sprocket . It comes with 15 T front and 42T back. But while doing so get 14T front sprocket and use it instead of 15 T . Bike will feel easy . 14 T front and 42 back is best combo. But make sure if cb dazzler chain sprocket fits coz I am not sure. No need to change carburetor even if you go for big bore . CV carburetor used in our bike has already 28mm jet size. Bigger than say unicorn, achiever. You can go for bigger jet size. Projector,HID are the things I never tried on my bike but am sure it will drain out battery quickly. My recommendation will be use Phillips Germany 35w bulb. It's really good . Am am satisfied with it. After going for o ring chain sprocket, you can replace your 4 kg heavyweight chain cover
with tvs apche 160 2v half hain cover which is good quality and also light. I have done this in my bike . Will improve power to weight ratio. But negative side is more maintenance of chain.

Re: CBZ xtreme / Hunk
By vacuum piston I think they mean the vacuum slide for the carb. Ask them to check the float level tab, and adjust. You can check it yourself, lot of sites available online. Check the float needle/ valve too for free movement and pitting or damage. Check if the float is actually floating, and not leaking. Also, check the drain screw, if it is not seating properly the petrol will leak through the drain pipe too. Let us know your findings, carb replacement is last resort and shortcut which SVC will do since they don't have time, try to find a good mechanic or go DIY. Carbs are quite simple actually to diagnose and fix.Originally posted by Crank49 View PostHi all,
A month ago, I got my CBZ repaired for petrol drain through Carburetor drain tube. The SVC replaced the fuel tap and something they call the vacuum piston. Now after riding around 300km, the same issue popped up again. The SVC said I have to replace carburetor if this comes up again. Any other workarounds?
Thank you,
Kiran

Re: CBZ xtreme / Hunk
Its been 9 years with CBZ Xtreme .Baught it in 2011. So far so good . there is something with this engine . its so addictive. mine has done 42000 km only. although not too much but the way CBZ entertained me is just awesome . Yes CBZ needs some good maintainance as most bikes but it will reward you for that. i have used 10w30 oil mostly . it warms with this in summer and need little time to cool. but mostly satisfied with CBZ . It loves highway and behaves like bigger bikes there. just one issue found . low end is not that great and in ghat section the lack of it is more evident. mileage is 45 in city and around 50 in highway which is good considering my aggressive driving style. Never thaught of buying another bike .Last edited by @Andicator; 02-24-2020, 01:53 AM.

Re: CBZ xtreme / Hunk
Today changed my CBZ xtreme rear tyre after clocking 37000 kms (vehicle age 10 years)
Stock tyre is MRF nylon zapper Y series
Bought Michelin Sirac street 100/90-18 rear tubed tyre for Rs 2000/-
I m planning to get my vehicle repainted by a local spray painter . Any suggestions on the paint company and quality are welcome, as I m noob and also skeptical about the paint quality that will be used by the painter
Is there any reliable paint which gives good quality on par with OEM paint quality?Last edited by geni; 02-15-2020, 11:41 PM.

Re: CBZ xtreme / Hunk
Two months back I had gone for a tyre change.the front tyre size of the CBZ is the same as rear tyre of shine.a tyre designed for rear tyre of another motorcycle will make the steering sluggish and the lack of centre grove may also result in diminished grip in wet. The purpose and load of rear and front being different,it may lead to a crash even in the dry .just for information.
Luckily, a senior mechanic from tyre shop itself found out ,but had to refit the old tyre because they didn't have stock.changed from another shop.
I changed both my tyres to Apollo,I feel that the grip levels are better than MRFs.
Fron tyre set me back by 1700 bucks and rear tyre by 1950
Rear-apollo actigrip R4-100/90-18
Front-80/100-18(same size as Honda shine,so have to be careful here)-apollo actizip F2Last edited by Thamps; 02-15-2020, 07:48 PM.

Re: CBZ xtreme / Hunk
If the front tyre is Michelin City Pro, you may be in for a big trouble. I fell from my bike because of this tyre, I had it on my rear wheel.Originally posted by sarvodaya View PostBoth Tyre Replaced with Michelin.
