  • Thats good. But I still would not want to touch an Exide...

Gawd knows... if it does not leak and gas, it might just blow up or something... lol!

Whats the warranty offered btw? That would be important... as Exides seem to have shorter life, besides the other problems.

    • guys earlier the mileage that i used to get on my bike was around 41-43kmpl .. recently when the fuel was almost over .. got shell petrol filled for rs.300 ... and then i drove for about 194 km before switching to reserve... i got 5.85 l for 300 bucks .. so removing 1.5l of reserve and say another 150 ml which could still be present .. so i could go for about 194km with about 4.2 liters of petrol which comes upto around 46.2 kmpl .. that is a good increase in the mileage .. could that be due to the petrol ? ?

and i'm driving more responsibly and in a fuel conscious way on my extreme .. not exceeding 60-70 kmph .. changing gears around 3.5 k-4.5k rpm ..

rarely going around 80kmph + did that today .. pick up was awesome and the speedo climbed to 80+ in no time .. it was fun after a long time

You should definitely take this up with Hero Honda. I have, and they have promised to fix it the paint and all. Right now its raining almost non stop here, so I'v not follewed it up myself... but will do it asap. If everyone does this, they will have to wake up and take notice and stop providing such rotten batteries.

And guys, before blaming the battery, always make sure that distilled water is never filled above the MAX mark by the service guys and always attach a properly routed drain tube. Filling above the MAX mark can not only ruin the bike but also the battery itself.

You need to recharge your new SF immediately. The longer you keep it in partially discharged conditions, the lesser its life is going to be.
Went to the service centre and got the battery checked. Battery is proper, it seems to be wiring problem which is leading to some power loss so battery is not getting charged and also some of the electricals are not functioning to their full potential.

Getting the wiring tested this weekend. Checked out UPS batteries but they don't come in sizes that fit into the bracket.

Totally agree dude. I too found shell petrol giving better mileage and response than HP or IndianOil.

Only 15 months? Amaron has a 60 month warranty (total). My Base Terminal (not sealed) has a 50 month (total) warranty.

Check that the terminals don't have corrosion on them. Had that issue on my bike. Do you find greenish deposits on them?

UPS batt dosen't fit? I wonder how so many people are using UPS batts in all kinds of bikes then...

About Shell... it has more to do with adulteration of petrol rather than any big difference in petrol.

I have a amco yuasa battery .. not very sure though . i think that came standard with the bike .. earlier i used to get the levels checked .. didnt do that recently. . but used to remind the service center ppl do top up the level of distilled water in the battery .. those a**oles were lazier than me .. recently battery was down .. so thought i'll give it for charging and took it to a nearby battery charging shop .. that mechanic found it pretty difficult to open it ... there were slight deposits on the terminals .. he cleaned them and found that there was no distilled water at all .. it was totally dry .. bloody service center guys.. didnt even bother to check the levels properly

15 months seems to be the replacement warranty out of a total of 30 months.
Considering all this, I am feeling I will go for the Amaron 12V 2.5A sealed battery for my Fiero F2. The shopkeeper is ready to give it to me for Rs.700 (Rs.50 for the old battery). I need to find the time (&money) to take it to the SVC though.

From my point of view, you were lucky they didn't fill it up. Cus they actually fill it up to the brim, which should never be done! And most likely they wont even be using distilled water. Best learn to do these things yourself!

And btw, your battery would me just Amco... not Amco Yuasa... unless its a really old battery.

The warranty is still significantly low compared to the competition!

If money is an issue, go for Base Terminal. Its cheaper. I have their 2.5 Ah battery. No leaks, no problems since last 6 months at least.... in spite of being overfilled!

The terminals had huge chunks of deposits when I was going for the battery change. But then got it all cleared. No deposits yet with the new battery.

About the UPS batteries, there was a splendor running with the UPS batt at the service centre, when I tried to fit in the same into mine it didn't fit properly. Also the splendour guy had made some bracket mods to fit in the same.

I browsed the link. Nobody in my circle has used it but the general opinion goes that the mechanical ABS only control the pressure and volume of the oil to a certain extent. Moreover with CBZ-X having progressive brakes and with not so high riding speeds here in india, I think they are sustainable without the ABS. If you are sensible in braking then I don't think ABS matters so much with brakes that are offered on CBZ.

                          • I clicked this photo while on the way coming back from kasauli and felt like sharing with u people..

About XBHP: some complaints too.. I asked some queries and didn't get desired response from this forum.
About Bike: I love the Engine but as posted in my eariler posts also, my bike slipped at a very low speed (20km/h I think) and it got front cowl tilted(which I got fixed by replacing the inner frame), but still feel some alignment is out. At idle RPM(~1000K) the headlight is no-where some vibs issue but that may be due to skidding and also my bike has done ~1500 kms and near to 2nd servicing. I often drive my friend's Pulsar 150 also and admire its digital gadgets and gear ratio. So my conclusion is every bike in this segament has its own properties

I can imagine... screw Amco and Exide. Hope they go to hell...

Anyway, better not count on them to clean it well... make sure you have squeaky clean meta to metal contact. You can use something bit abrasive like scotchbrite.
