Anyways, Any engine would last as long as it is maintained well and not abused

    • Geez dude, that goes without saying! But even if you maintain 2 engines equally well, they would still have a different lifespan depending on a huge number for factors which I wont get into here.

We all know that Honda engines do last longer. Pulsars on the other hand seem to kick the bucket sooner, with some exceptions of course. So where does RTR stand?

Sorry if i hurt your feelings that was unintentional.Sir i have yet to come across an xtreme with 96000kms on odo running on stock pistons. But i have seen a lot of unicorns with that kinda mileage on stock pistons. My old unicorn was serviced like 3 or 4 times only in its whole 17000KMS.Yet it never gave me any trouble.I wouldnt even dare that kinda of thing with an xtreme. The point is their are other really good bikes like the unicorn, rtr that give us something really tangible unlike the stickering job of HH.

        • Pulsars and RTR s have oversquare engines.
          Hondas have relaxed squarer engines.

The former redlines at 11k~12k rpm while the latter at 9k~10k rpm.

It s obvious which would last longer.

Anyways lets chuck this discussion as there are cases where pulsars have clocked lakhs of kms and also of some hondas going kaput in their early life. Trust me, this discussion ll lead nowhere

You didn't hurt my feelings! Neither am I your bike, nor its maker. So no question of me being hurt.

Why do you think Xtreme needs more maintainence compared to a Unicorn? Whats the xtra that needs to be done??

As for the Pulsies, I'v already mentioned that there are exceptions. Like there was this guy I'd met who had an odo reading of almost 100,000 km! I casually asked him if he has replaced any parts etc. He said nothing... only normal servicing! I said thats really cool and all. Then after a li'l probing the story got a slightly differnt colour - apparently he had contacts with bajaj and its assembly line or something. And it seems the bike was specially "made"! Lol!! That makes me think that Bajaj can make long lasting bikes... but only if they want to!!!

Another thing about RTR - TVS itself is very responsive to consumer complaints. HH on the other hand seems to have let its success go to its head.

onlyyourspiyu, bike buying is a pretty personal decision with all decent bikes having their followers. About CBZ-X all I can say is its a fairly good bike (by Indian standards) but the service has gone to the pigs. Check out how things are in your area.

Thanks Raccoon, I went to local HH service center today itself. Had a feeling that main disc break oil chamber was empty and grears were feeling bit stiffer.
They did listen to my case. Showed me that my bike had transparent oil in the Disc break oil chamber and tighten the cluch to resolve the gear stiffness. All in All it was a good experience that they worked immediately and I was satisfied.

BTW has HH started providing Dual colored seats(a-la laal salaam LE Hunk) too on the CBZ X Refresh?
Thanks Buddy... Ha ha ha.. That dual tone is the seat cover that I got custom made from a local shop I knew that seat will take anybody's attention and I am pleased that I am successful in this operation...

U would have been even more successful if u had got the one with the rear alloy painted red

And even more if it was the LE Hunk

But according to me selection of bike is everybody's personal choice and I like this CBZ over Hunk simply .... For rear Red wheel again I didn't like two alloys of different colors.

                      • @ALL who're wondering about the 'special bike' mentioned by Racoon:
Read Arthur Hailey's "Wheels" and then decide on the humour involved in the statment.
Lemme give you guys a hint..
The above statement is shockingly true (Not sure if the case under discussion is one). And it ain't restricted to Bajaj/Honda/Yamaha/Ford/GM.
Read the book asap and i'll dole out further gyaan

                        Cheers !

The statement is true apparently. Makes perfect sense as its explained quite logically in the book.

Well I have done close to 30000 kms on my CBZ an around 35K on my ZMA and have not sprnd a single rupee extra on any mechanical problems other than the regular spark plug, air/oil filter changes IMO honda engines are some of the most relaible engines available even our old city which was replaced for an optra felt as good as new even after around 7yrs & 80K kms of abuse.
