I ordered from Amazon. Name of the brand is com-paint. It was no where mentioned on the bottle that the paint is heat-resistant but the add on the site said it to be heat resistant.

    Better try Bosney brand.

I had to remove almost rear half of my bike to paint parts individually.

Swing Arm, Chain Guard, Battery cage, Saree guard were removed, cleaned and painted using regular black paint.

Silencer, Silencer heat protector and grab rails were painted (3 coats) using matt black spray paint.

Swing arm was again applied with one round of matt black spray paint. Greasing and cleaning of other parts (rear wheel bearing, Chain and sprocket, Break shoes, etc) were also done. Oil change was also done. This time it was Motul mineral oil.

The process almost took 2+ weeks altogether.

    Brake Fluid Inspection Window cleaning.

I had an hard time to check the level of brake fluid as the inspection window was almost black.

I found it can be removed and cleaned when trying to check the level of the fluid when opening the fluid reservoir.

All you need to do is a remove a clip from the inside and the plastic part(inspection window) comes out. The plastic part has a rubber washer to prevent the fluid leaking.

Now I used a toothbrush and toothpaste to clean the inspection window. It is almost new after brushing.

The toughest part is installing it back. You need an extra pair of hands to help you install this small part. If you don't have anyone to help you, please don't remove the inspection window in first place.

I almost broke the plastic part while trying to install it.

I will upload the photos once I find them. I am praying that my wife should not delete them as I used her toothbrush for cleaning.

    _______________

The crazy part I did was I cleaned the entire brake fluid system with water !!! I am not recommending this to anyone.

Deposits were formed over a period of time in the reservoir which were hard to remove. I assume the same deposits would also might get stuck in the brake hose and also in the entire brake housing.

Even if I change the fluid and install new disk pads, breaking was only satisfactory.

So I flushed the system until water came out colorless and clean from the bleed valve. Water was dirty and grey for first few minutes.

Flushed the system again with DOT 3 fluid (TVS Girling is cheaper).
DOT 3 is hygroscopic and will absorb water. This will ensure there is no water left in the entire system.

Now added fresh DOT 3 to the system and ensure there are is no air in the system.

A miracle I must say. I felt like I installed Pulsars brake on my Unicorn. So sharp. Have run 500+ KMS now after this crazy DIY and found it very good.

I assume it is not required to flush the engine and the quantity of used oil left would be very minimal (< 100ML) compared to the 1L new one you pour it.

Oil Strainer should be cleaned. You need to open the right side engine cover. Please refer my previous post in this threads

I have an issue with the trip meter in my CB Unicorn 150 (2010 Model)

It is a mechanical analog speedo /Odo meter + Trip meter (Not digital one). The issue currently under discussion is The trip meter does not reset to Zero when i push the rubber button. Secondly, the rubber button is also very hard to push.

My Questions waiting for your expert suggestions/Advice

What could have gone wrong ?
Is it just the button that is the issue here OR the whole trip meter has to be replaced ?
If it is just button, can it be replaced ? repaired ? If yes, what could be the cost ?
If it is the whole trip meter, Can it be repaired ? replaced ? WHat could be the cost ?
If the whole speedometer has to be replaced (Due to non availability of trip meter or button alone ? What could be the cost ?

Also, request you to let me know where in Bangalore, a trusted meter repair mechanic can be found ? I got to know from my mechanic that most Meter mechanics do spoil the cllibration of the meter in the process of repairing and hence, need to go to a trusted people only.

Hence, requesting you to help me if you know a good mechanic who can repair the above issue in Bangalore

    Thanks in advance
My Bikes trip meter behaved the same. It would not reset to Zero. It would reset to any random numbers. But after trying a few times, it used to reset to 000

I have removed the speedo thrice to clean the dirt accumulated inside the speedo (not sure how it went in !). The rubber part is a separate part (should cost max 5 RS) but it is not sold separately. Speedo repair cost much. So if your speedo is running, ignore the trip meter and enjoy the ride.

My trip meter failed again last week. This time, i am even unable to push the button.

Can anyone tell me any electrical contact cleaners in market, or any other DIY stuffs to clean the sockets.
When it comes to battery terminals you can keep it fresh and neat by applying the "Vasoline (petroleum jelly)" regularly like in a fixed interval of time. This shall keep the terminals away from any oxidation and rust. Thanks.

    Hi all,

Does anyone knows how to test Honda Unicorn kickstart RR unit? Test with Multimeter. I tested but I didn't got any connectivity readings on any of the pins.

I recently changed battery to Amaron 2.5A. The mechanic said RR unit is failed.

According to him the voltage on battery should not go beyond 15 volts.

Accordint to Amaron specs voltage should be 13.8 to 14.2 volts.

    My battery is showing 14.8volts.

    Regards,
    Prashant.

Non-synthetic to Synthetic Oil change in Unicorn

    Hello friends. I need help.

    [I] Details

    Vehicle : Honda Unicorn
    Total Running : 8500 km
    Age : About 10 years

    [II] Query

I am planning to change the oil from the regular, non-synthetic oil filled up at Honda service centers to Motul 300V.

    Do I need to :

    i) Flush the engine? (If yes, please suggest a good flusher)

ii) Clean/replace the oil strainer/centrifugal oil filter?

Mighty confused about the flush/filter replacement as I have read some reports about it causing all sorts of weird problems.
