if you cant get one in seconds market may be this link will help. If you place the mouse over the image you can get a clear view of what part you need. PS i found this website on another thread and have never used it personally

All parts inside the carb are available separately. But the body or casing is not available. Make sure it is in working condition also without any cracks or stripped threads.

Okay now i am facing a bigger problem, the carburetor fuel screw was jammed, and after failing every possible ways to get it out i had to give it at a lathe, who drilled and took the screw out. But they haven't done a good job. Now i am not able to completely close my new screw (Seems like the screw hole is bit enlarged now )..so bad tuning. And i am getting mileage around 30kmpl only. i was told from honda that i cannot get carburetor casing separately and that i have to buy the whole assembly which costs 6k. :-(

so any tricks to solve this ?

    Tappet adjustments

At last, did the tappet adjustments myself..

Was not able to source the exact feeler guage (0.08mm input & 0.12mm output). So with some trial and error, now the engine sound is better compared to how it was before.

Took the opportunity to remove swing arm, chain guard, chain, battery cage, silencer, driver & pillion foot rests and the parts which hold them..

Painted the swing arm, chain guard, and entire silencer in black & battery cage in red. I believe it wont start rusting atleast for next two years..

Greased the swing arm nut and the spacer nut.

Charged the battery with my desktop UPS.

Cleaned the chain & spark plug as well.

All i needed to perform these tasks were "T" & ring spanners (8, 10, 12, 14, 17, 20 MM) + a lineman pliers and few flat head and star screw drivers.

Did a mistake by painting the silencer. I could see smoke coming up from silencer when it heats up..

That means drop in performance when engine is warmed up. May be carb tuning is not correct. If possible post a picture of spark plug tip here.

So the update is i raised the issue with the HMSI. they did take some initiative to fix the issue. First their service manager called me and assured me that they will fix the mileage issue but said they cannot refund the fork tube cost. but when i said i am raising the matter in consumer court may be they realized i am serious. Today the GM of this service center talked with me and asked me to take the bike and also the old tubes back tomorrow. He said they are going to put back the old tubes and initiate refund. Now that's fair.

But do you know whats the worst part now ?. The main reason i kept my bike for service was poor mileage. And believe it or not, they changed my filter, spark plug and even the carburetor diaphragm but they didn't tune the engine. And i was getting mileage of around 33 kmpl. The gm assured me that they will fix it tomorrow.

and yea regarding the scratches.. One tube is as good as new. and the other one got a small 1 mm scratch. Something like a dot but its not deep. i dont think its going to cause any leaks.

Did they have a lot of heavy scratches where the suspension was moving in and out?? barely visible scratches is not a big problem that you have to have them replaced. Also why did they replace the spring etc?? They royally screwed you man. They should have informed you before undertaking such a costly work. Also buddy, you shouldn't have paid the bill. Did you try talking with the service manager? In future don't pay the bill unless you are 100% satisfied. Try taking up the matter with HMSI, but from prior experience, they will just call you once to enquire and then close the matter.

    Re: Honda Unicorn

Been driving Uni since more than 2 years but i have habit of using clutch too much in the sense in city i simply use clutch if i have to pass through a bumper or slow down
Also i use it because i dont want to feel engine roughness
will it have any effect on my efficiency or engine part ?

Your carb or air filter might be blocked. Replace the filter and get the carburetor cleaned. filter costs around 120 and carb cleaning costs around 200 at the svc

I recently sold my Yamaha glady and went for a used unicorn. Its a 2009 Unicorn with odo reading 44k. It was in good shape. I kept it for service at Honda service centre.
They called me a couple of times asking me whether to replace this and that. And of the thing they asked was Fork oil seal. Since thats something that wears out i told them to change it. When i went to take the bike i was expecting a bill of around 3k. But i was shocked to hear it was 5.5K.

They had replaced my Front fork tube, its springs and most things related to suspension. my old Tubes wasn't in bad shape at all. I own an rx 100 which is 20 years old and i haven't changed its fork tubes yet. it was late in the evening and the mechanics and left the place so they asked me to come next morning to talk with the mechanic. One of the mistake i did was i paid the bill and took the bike that day and took it back to svc the next day. And i was shocked at mechanic's reply. he was telling me that whenever their is oil leak in the fork its because tube is faulty. I kept arguing that it starts leaking when oil seal is worn out and replacing it would solve the problem but he kept insisting that ALWAYS LEAKS OCCUR WHEN TUBE IS FAULTY AND IT SHOULD BE REPLACED . This is something i am hearing for the first time. I have been used to bike since last 2 decades and have never heard such a claim.

So after some argument he agreed to revert back to my old pipe but i should pay labour charge and also for a set of new oil seals. But that will be total loss for me. so i didnt agree with that and came back.

Now did anybody have to change their tubes because of some slight scratches which are almost invisible to naked eyes . I have taken my old tubes from them so that i can prove i was right. So what should i do now ?. I dont think they should be allowed to go free on this. Whom should i report this to ?
