AFAIK, Unicorn is tall geared compared to Hunk/Xtreme. Remember the 15T sprocket discussions we had in Xtreme thread?
So I believe it should do more than 50 kmph at 4k in 5th gear.

Problem 2 : Acceleration is slow , my 5th gear 4k rpm speed is 50-52kmph. So clutch seems ok to me . Chain is also correctly tensioned. Tappets also set correctly.

Problem 3 : kick starting doesnt need much effort , which makes me think does this bike suffer from compression issue ? i checked spark plug it was dry , so it comes down to valves . Does unicorn suffer from valve leakage ?

Please shed some light over my queries. Thank You
Shame that you didn't get an answer for 3 weeks. Although I am by no means an expert, I'm gonna give it a ry.

    1. Yes, acceleration beyond 80 kph is terrible. Although I have done 100 kph, you need lots of time and a straight road for it.

    2. Yes, when in the 5th gear at 4K RPM the speed is exactly 50kph. Normal.

    3. I use the electric start 90% of the time. Are you experiencing other symptoms of a compression leak? Like loss of power? Also see if the head of the cylinder is leaking liquid. There will spots of dried liquid in that case. I have never experienced valve leakage so far(ridden 14760 kms, and quite fast riding as well.)

    Re: Honda Unicorn Dazzler

    ^^Thanks..

Alright. A few general questions. I did my last service at 12,007 kms. Right now I'm at 14,760 kms. When should i get the next servicing done? 15000?

And what's the oil change interval for the CB Unicorn? The manual says top up after 3K, and change after 6K kilometers. What schedule do y'all follow?

What brand of oil to use? The ASC guys use Idemitsu oil, with honda branding, touting it as "genuine Honda oil". Are there better oils available out there?

Its Secondary air injection . Same section has that textile covered pipe that goes to engine head. Its function is to reduce emission and boost mid end performance.

Sorry for the poor image quality, I took them after sunset at an outdoor area with little lighting.

Although the jerking appears to be gone, i feel a proper evaluation would be possible only when starting off from a cold engine. I'll ride to college tomorrow morning and then update this thread. If it still doesn't work, I'll try unplugging the pipe(btw is it grey or golden?) and closing it with my thumb, and then tune the carb.

BTW is this grey pipe you speak of, accessible from the left side(from where you access the fuel screw), or the right side of the bike(from where you access the idling screw)?
    Yea thats the golden pipe
It has a pipe coming from secondary air injection .
Block either the golden pipe or pipe from secondary air injection.

I the article I read, it was written that one should keep an eye on the tachometer and when the RPM becomes constant and does not fluctuate with the engine running, that it correct AFR setting. So i turned the fuel screw around 1+1/8 turn out. At this point the RPM became almost constant and the fluctuation was minor(0.1RPM)

I have left it at that. Now I'll ride to college tomorrow and only then i'll be able to tell whether the issue of cold starts and engine shutting off in traffic have been fixed or not.

    Did I do it right?

My cold and hot RPM is 1-1.2 and 1.8 respectively.

BTW, I have deliberately tuned my carb to give better fuel economy. This issue has gotten worse as winters have set in. I want an FE of more than 40. During summers I run on a lean mix and this behaviour doesn't happen, at the same i get an FE of 45kmpl+

Is there a way to fix this without compromising too much on the fuel economy?

And btw, i warm up the engine by running on choke for 3-4 minutes every morning, but this issue still persists.

How many kmpl does your Unicorn give you?
Mine gives 40+ for sure with no jerks or cold start issue. Dont tune AFR for FE , instead tune it perfectly . At that point you will gain max FE and max power.

i am using a donor 2009 unicorn run 25k . Only periodic services has been done and nothing else. Everything from chain to tyre is stock.

Problem 1 : Bike doesnt seem to go above 80 , need to rev real hard 6-7k each gear to get it there. Is it common for you guys too ? My xtreme (16k done) pulls to 90 in no time .

^^ iam using tubless(rear), its available for front tyre too, zapper FS has tube and tubeless variants. Just you have to buy an additional valve costing ~100 bucks.

Does anyone know the rear tyre pressure for tubeless (zapper vyde) (size and all same as stock)
