Gautam congrats on the bike, for accessories you have Performance Racing(.in) in Mumbai and you can order on-line. They have a lot of good stuff

Also I know of a similar store opening in bangalore in Kasturinagar today, dont have all the detail but they supposed to have a lot of brands ..will post as soon as i get the details. Riding gear, helmets the works..

Also check with the showroom, I remember them offering the TBR Ex to my friend without having to void the warranty that is company fitted.

New GT650r

Okay... So I got my new GT650R on Thursday last week and I managed to complete 260+ kms already. So far, I do have some aches but like the saying goes - no pain, no gain

So far loving the bike - I picked up a ALL RED from the DSK dealership at bangalore - got the bike in 3 days!! Kudos to the entire team there..

Great post MaxTheo. You recounted your experience of the test ride and said how you felt after it in terms of whether you wanted to have one for yourself. You based it on your expectations and how the bike performed in relation to those expectations.

I wish most posts on this controversial brand of bikes were objective and clear like yours.

My initial impression was very similar to yours, except maybe I was more impressed with the power, and was more worried about the vibes. Since I was testing a GTN, the heat issue wasn't there.

My decision was based on the fact that I wanted a big bike, there was a good discount going on, and there really was no alternative. The Ninja 650 was nowhere in sight, and the times I had sat on the Ninja had only highlighted that it was really too low for my 6'3" frame and the handle was too close resulting in ergonomics that were too tame for my liking.

I have had the GT650N for about 6 months now, and have done about 4000 kms. I take it to office almost everyday, except when it rains, when I take the car. I take it on regular 100km rides, and on a few longer rides also, like the one to Coorg.

It is significantly smoother now than earlier, and definitely much smoother than the test ride bike which was frankly having alarming levels of vibes. It goes nice and slow when I want and goes like a bomb when I want, like recently when I was keeping up with a R1 on some twisty roads near Manchinbele.

I feel that if I had not taken the test ride and depended only on the online opinions, then there is a good chance that I would not have bought the bike and would not be having the wonderful fun I'm having thanks to my GTN.

I would therefore urge people who are considering a 650, to take a test ride of the GT650 and then decide. MaxTheo took a decision based on the fact that the positives were outweighed by the negatives. But there would be others like me for whom the balance might be different. So go there, take a ride and see if it works for you.

Not too different from a regular first impression (with only 15 minutes of ride)...

And had it been longer ride, then be ready for lower back and wrist pains for first few days.. that will make you hate the bike even more...

You need to ride it more to love that coarse engine & get used to the pain (seating posture) hehee....

Test Rode GT 650R

Recently test rode GT 650R. i must say the bike has got sufficient punch to pick up from any gear and u really dont require to downshift too often.
However the engine is very coarse and no way close to be called smooth which any one would expect from a super bike but after all it is a V-Twin. Also after 15 minutes of ride i didnt feel like riding it again anymore. Looks are good but really fails to impress as a complete 600cc package overall.
It seriously heats up even though not riding in traffic.

i agree..the standard lights/bulbs in the headlight of the GT is expectedly poor

since i too didnt wanna take any chances with my warranty, i 1st tried a simple white bulb, wasnt much difference

so i eventually opted for HID bulbs, both hi n low beam

major problem is that the bulbs/light when switched on, takes a min or 2 to come on, so its as good as riding with the light off which can get pretty risky/dangerous

minor problem is that yellow light cuts the white light of HIDs, im not sure if thats the case for all HIDs, but in mine, it sure is

but in pitch black roads/areas or places with little to no street lighting, the spread/intensity is not bad at all..n definitely better than the standard issue yellow light bulbs..

will post a pic, in the meanwhile, see if you can check out these fb links, pics were taken when i got the HIDs installed..

Joy can answer regarding the spread and the illumination, but yes generally all the bike companies void 'electrical' warranty if we go for HID and HIDs don't take much time to install, just some plugs and switches.

Next time we will hit the road much early in the morning
