ROFL - your comment has totally made my day. Let me ask you a few questions and then we will take this further, i usually dont reply to such worthless remarks but then i need to ask a few things -Originally posted by psych0hans View Postmy friend, what you're saying is a classic case of "the lemons are sweet" once you have already bought something that is sub par, you're trying t justify your purchase... Don't get me wrong, I'm sure the gt is a very capable machine, but it is no where compared to the jap bikes... I.e. ninja, cbr, etc... Of course, the fact that those bikes aren't available in India leaves us with no other choice but the gt
1. Where in my post did i say GT is the best bike out there and is even better than a R6 or CBR600rr. Did i Mr. psychorans? The GT doesnt even come close to the above bikes because the moment you spent double of what you spend on buying a GT you ought to get something better. Gt doesnt even come close to such bikes, heck even their power figures, refinement levels are in an alltogether different league.
The japs bikes is just your imagination buddy, i didnt even compare it to the N650R, you think its the best, believe it and buy it, there is no need of telling every hyosung owner that you bought a lemon.
FYI, Hyosung sold 611 GT and St7 last year which is quite good for a sub-par bike and below par company as per you.
2. Just because you own a Kawasaki and spent 3.5 lakhs on a 250cc 33 bhp doesnt mean everything else on the road is not worth it, such sense of superiority isnt even in those people who have a Hayabusa or a Ninja ZX10R (we ride together each sunday) so please keep it aside and talk about facts.
3. Why should i justify my purchase? Is it an obligation? Am i paid by Hyosung, are you paid by Kawasaki bajaj for speaking good of the Ninja 250R? Its an open forum and this ownership thread is to let owners speak of what they think of the bike, not blanket statements of what is a lemon and what is best
4. Atleast the GT owners have been honest, Brat has reported his FI issues openly, men in jean about rectifier and me too, where in the world did any one justify his purchase.
5. Am glad i spent 5.5 lakhs and bought a GT which is sub-par according to you, it goes past 200 easily, has a brilliant acceleration, has been reliable (i have clocked 5,000 kms) and is 70+ bhp which is more than double of what the 250cc bikes offer and yes power is important to me, not just a brand name.
6. It is worthless to argue but i never stated that GT is the best bike out there, i said it has issues but its good, the moment i find i wasted my money, i would report it. If there had been a R6 or CBR at this price point i would have gone for it but there isnt any so the choice was between GT and Ninja650r - and yes i definitely wouldnt have chosen any 250cc because graduating from a 220cc bike i dont find it much of an upgrade, infact every one suggests buying a 600cc and acquiring some experience before getting a litre class bike.Last edited by coolboy007; 04-29-2012, 05:09 PM.

^^^ Relax guys... After all, he has his own views and comments to share on any thread he wants. Whatever happened to freedom of speech.
My dear, i think you mistook coolboy's post as something that says,Originally posted by psych0hans View Postmy friend, what you're saying is a classic case of "the lemons are sweet" once you have already bought something that is sub par, you're trying t justify your purchase... Anyone know when it will be available?
"Aargh... GT is the best of the best out there, Its better than Ninja, Its better than CBR, Its better than any Japanese manufacturer out there. Even if the 600's hit the market, i am going to keep saying that GT is the bestest! because i own it!"
Coz, that would be fanboy'ism. I am quite sure he didn't mean it that way.
To simplify what he said, "I like the GT, agreed it has a few issues, but i think its good".

Since quite a few of us decided to put significant chunk of our hard earned money into a 650cc machine, i think we might have tried to do some sort of market analysis about product quality before the purchase.
Dont you think?
You might have read many reviews online about the quality of the GT650R and how it sucks and its a lemon and stuff. I have a few questions, since we're on the subject. I assume, anyone who criticizes a product is duly informed of what it really is and i will totally respect their verdict, it does not matter whether i own that bike or not. Since i am not biased towards any manufacturer (I secretly like BSA).
1) Do you know what are the rectifications made by Hyosung between the already rectified 2011 Release and the 2012 version, after their Indian foray, Based on customer feedback and Road-testing?
2) Do you know what is the 6 month Indian sales figure of the lemon?
3) Do you know what are the warranty claims received by Hyosung, Kawasaki and Honda for FY 2011-12, respectively?
4) Did you know that Hyosung and Suzuki are sister companies and the powerplant inside GT650R is actually derived from a Japanese SV650?
I dont mean to challenge your opinion, because everyone has their own and including owners - others need to learn to respect that. All i am saying is, you're free to call any bike anything you want, know your facts when posting in a public forum.
Reading outdated online reviews, replying to misunderstood ownership thread comments and comparing 650's with 600's does not put one in good light.
On a completely different note, Some of the dealers are speculating that the new 2012 version of N650R is likely to be out by Mid or Late May. Not sure how credible that information should be, either way - many of us are eagerly anticipating the release.

LOL.. we have the same discussion happening in the 250 speculation forum.. hilarious

^ lol! this is one more case of what @Brat mentioned. Why dont you wor**less guys create a new thread to discuss what is sub-par/best available bike in the world and leave this (OWNERSHIP) thread to us?
Your so called CBR or whatever super-sports when released, we will know the price tag it will carry and you will have things to complaint on that as well. There are no bikes without issues. If you say there is one then probably you don't own one. Know the problems and buy any bike you want. else ignore it and leave..
BTW don't get me wrong

Agree the paint quality and finishing isnt top notch but the main areas i.e engine, transmission or brakes havent been compromised, its a good bike and the response from garware people has always been good.

You said it man, +1.Originally posted by Brat View PostThe people who complain more harshly on this forum are mostly not owners but folks who've went online, read a few reviews, watched a couple of videos and start going out gung-ho after taking a test ride.

Rightly said, Brat..Originally posted by Brat View PostThe people who complain more harshly on this forum are mostly not owners but folks who've went online, read a few reviews, watched a couple of videos and start going out gung-ho after taking a test ride.
For a more realistic view, you can post here - there are more than a handful of unbiased owners who can provide you with their experiences.
Not clear... when you mention "Are problems with all GTs or few of them???", what problem are you referring to?

I am not sure how many miles others have clocked on their GT's - maybe someone who's already had their stock rubber replaced would be in a good position to comment, I've done about 10000+ kms so far and about 1000 of those kms have been on ghat roads, dirt pass, etc. Rest were on solid well laid highways/city roads.
I'd expect it to last for 20,000 kms (or one year) at a minimum, for my riding pattern. The stock Bridgestone Battlax costs ~10k for the replacement.
Servicing:
Service intervals are set at 5000kms. It costs a maximum of around 3k - 5k per service for the usual routine. The cost appears to vary (though not significantly) for various SVC's, across the country.
Consumables are a bit on the higher side. A regular service with a rear pad replacement cost around 11k for one of the older members here.
Other than that, a regular service includes the cost for 3L of FS engine oil, Insurance would set you back 10k per annum.
Fuel Efficiency:
To be quite honest, i really dont know what is the city mileage because i've never bothered to check. On highway's the GT returns around 22kmpl (160kmph with occasional bursts to 200k) - 27kmpl (100kmph flat - no bursts) depending upon average speeds maintained.Last edited by VaibhavPisal; 04-27-2012, 05:37 PM.

Can anyone share economics of owning this bike. Would like to upgrade to GT650N. Can someone tell me how long stock tires last, how much all servicing cost, and how fuel efficient it is, any other maintenance costs you would like to share?
