In general before giving to service one has to mention strictly oil service and no other crap. This will bring down the service bill. I use chain lube before servicing so they wont add that bill amount.

i bought r15 v2 6 months ago. Odo is at 3k and i have completed 3rd service [emoji58] recently. After the second service itself, the engine felt very harsh and noisy once it warms up. Every morning bike feels smooth for some time and the character changes once it reaches its normal operating temperature. I feel really bad to push it to 6k RPM as it becomes too harsh and feels characterless. During third service, i was told that the tappets needs to be adjusted to resolve this. But once they checked, they told me that the tappets were fine and there is no need to adjust it. After engine oil change, the bike felt somewhat smooth and they asked me to comeback if i again face the same issue. So i went back again next week and they are saying that all the engines behave like this only once they reach a particular temperature. I am not convinced or satisfied because i don't even feel like riding when the engine is like this [emoji22]. i dont know what to do now. Oil was changed in all the three services. I am thinking to give my bike to some other showroom for checkup. Can anyone here suggest me something on this?

    Thanks in advance,
    Santhosh
    Hi santhosh

Sad to hear about the issues with your bike, If its a new bike then it is covered under standard warranty, so if you are not happy with solution provided by your SVC then you should escalate your problem to Yamaha customer service/Regional service manager. You can get their contact details from Yamaha website or from the showroom. At the least you must shoot an email to Yamaha India describing your problem.

R15 engine is known to be very consistent and smooth despite heat/cold, etc, its not normal for the bike to behave in such manner. Hopefully you can go to another SVC and they will be able to solve your problem. Keep us updated!

    All the best!

After 7 years of owning this beautiful machine(inside and outside), I need your advice on changing the body of the bike.
    Before that..
Let me tell you what lead to this consideration

3 months after getting my motorcycle, on a rainy night my friend came back from a party, fully drunk.
As he was parking his car in the basement, he said he was too drunk to see the motorcycle and hit the tail light.
It came off the stand, moved a bit ahead and the fuel tank hit a pillar. It got a big dent on petrol tank.
Needless to say I was upset and thought of changing the tank, but reconsidered the decision and got a good
tank pad. I have been using ever since, with an occasional hurtful look at the dented tank..

7 years later last, month, another friend of mine, who was learning to ride motorcycle took it and dropped it in parking, again.
This time the right side panel broke. I regret my decision of trusting my bike with a rookie. All the external damage happened, because
    somebody was not careful.

    As for the bike itself.
I have gotten into two situations
Once around 100 km/h and once maybe at around 80 km/h, where I had to apply sudden brake

I was so surprised that the bike remain planted, it felt like a 300 kg bike! the brakes did the job what they are supposed to.
Apart from the occsional sounds from front and regular servicing there was no need for any repair work.
Even after 7 years of usage engine is as refined as day 1 and you can move around the bike in corners like a sword.
10/10 for Yamaha engineering and design.

With R15 V3 out there is a temptation to upgrade, but I cannot part with this machine.

    So my questions are
1.Is it a good idea to do a complete body change(including tank)?
If there are no other problems with the bike, except for bodywork, then yes definitely makes sense to get it fixed; Bike will feel like new again.

2.What would be the cost of such a change?
    Fuel Tank- About 6000 Rs
Side Panels- About 3000 Rs for inner/outer panel for one side
Add Labour charges- About 1000-1500 Rs depending on SVC

3.Will the original black will be available now?
Yes Black colour is easily available

    4.Any other comments/suggestions?
R15 V3 is not a considerable upgrade over the V2, so ideally keep this bike for now, and in future you may upgrade to a higher capacity bike with more safety features like ABS, etc.

    thanks in advance guys

Do check with the service center that it is in fact heating excessively. We riders tend to underestimate normal working temperatures sometimes[emoji28] . If it is confirmed as excessive heating, the alternator may be throwing higher power than usual. In that case, the RR is heating up because it is doing its job[emoji4]. Check and replace the alternator.

If the engine light comes on again, stop the bike and read the error code from the blinking of the engine light :

Slow blinks *10 + fast blinks = error code

    Example : 4 slow blinks + 6 fast blinks = error code 46

If you normally change gears at 7k rpm and above then Motul 7100 10w40 is a good choice even 10w50 in case of summer. But as per manual 10w40 is the right grade and it works fine in all conditions.
I have put in 7100 10w40 and it lasted 3500-4000kms for my kinda riding .

Suggest you to stick to whatever manufacturer has suggested. Despite common belief that synthetic oil is good for engine, it actually depends on various factors. I'm guessing that Yamaha suggests Mineral oil. If that's the case, please stick to it, along with the correct grade.

P.S: I don't own an R-15; Never owned Yamaha bikes.
