Re: Yamaha YZF-R15 version 2.0
Thanks, Today I have adjusted the valve clearances at basement parking, previously I bought the 8mm ratchet spanner & tappet adjusting tool from aliexpress, these helped me a lot. I kept 0.10mm inlet & 0.20mm exhuast clearance. Only difficulty I faced, the clearance between the engine head & the chassis is very very less. Also checked by starting the bike until the radiator fan kicks in, it took 20mins from idle. Everything is fine. There is no tak tak noise now. Thanks again.Originally posted by black asp View Post

I have ordered tapered roller bearing for steering head from pyramid parts. Lets see how it turns up.

Find my answers aboveOriginally posted by saikatbyte View PostHello Folks.
I have some questions regarding R15 v2 maintenance.
1. Is it okay to use Shell V-Power Unleaded petrol full tank once in a month (and rest normal unleaded petrol) ? or should I buy the Yamalube Pea Carbon Cleaner and use it at 3000km interval?
The carbon cleaner won't help in anything drastic. Whatever you might feel is questionable too.
2. The hot engine produces tappet noise but cold engine does not, tappet/valve clearance needs to be adjusted? or, should I replace the Camchain Tensioner & Tensioner Gasket?
The tappets are not set properly if you get tick tick noise in hot engine. Set the tappets at .12mm inlet and .21 outlet. Works for me but you may have to get it done in a different spec. These are engine specific.
Other causes could be a faulty decompression unit or a misadjusted cct. Try to adjust the tensioner and see if it helps.
All of the above give stitching machine noise.
Do it once do it perfect and don't touch the tappets unless u get the tick tick noise.
3. While draining the old coolant (comes with stock bike) and changing with the new coolant (Motul Motocool Expert), it there any requirement to flush the cooling system (radiator and cooling hose etc.) with distilled water+vinegar solution? or, just drain the old one, pour some water and drain it completely, and then fill the new coolant.
Second one works too. Though I avoid motocool as it is silicate based and they are really nasty on rubbers in the long run.
Thanks in advance.
P.S. Pardon me if there is any mistake/difficulty in understanding.

thank you😊😊Originally posted by yamahamann View PostWhile taking delivery did you check your handle bar by turning full left and full right, to see if there is any play?. The Mechanic will try to pass it off as normal just be careful. This repair is kind of a critical job and your ride dynamics will be affected if not done in the right manner.
Seems like your Cone-set overhaul was not carried out properly, Knocking sound/loose play/tightness in movement are not normal after replacing worn out parts.
Since you got your repair done from a local mechanic, did you check if the guy used genuine/correct parts? Were you present when the work was carried out?
Also 4500 INR is very high price for this work, Upper + Lower bearings + Labour should not cost more than 2800-3000 Rs.
For future repairs, stick to SVC and ask for replaced parts, even better if you can be present while the work is being done.
All the Best!

Re: Yamaha YZF-R15 version 2.0
thanks for the tip..i'll probably just buy from a shop locally.Originally posted by B7ACKTHORN View PostSealed batteries aren't a big deal. is this the stock battery as well brand-wise ? although that doesnt really matter i guess, as long as the battery spec is the same..
is it advisable to purchase a battery online ?

Go for only Amron 4 Ah. Price nearly 1200 Rs.Originally posted by aditya_YZF-R15 View Postafter ~4.5 years and ~28000 kms, my bike's battery finally gave up..and without much prior notice too..started as usual, ran for ~100 metres till the air filling station nearby where i'd switched it off for a couple of minutes for some reason, and then never started and started showing those signs (and a sound) of a blown battery...this happened a few days ago...i'd to leave for a trip that day so didn't have the time to rectify this that day..
anyways, i'm still out of station but wondering if i should order the battery online or wait till it reach my place and buy a new one from some relevant shop locally..any suggestions regarding if something like a battery can be bought online trustfully ? asking this seemingly trivial question because i am not sure how safe it is to buy batteries online (courier issues including)..also, any suggestions on which battery to buy for the R15v2 (2013)? i don't know which brand the stock one is and a google search is giving many possible candidates..
