    DIMENSIONS
"Chrome & Desert Storm, the all new classic duo from ROyal enfield, Stylish and sublime, one will blind you and the other will make you rub your eyes"

Excerpts from the leaflet picked up recently from soniya Royal enfield showroom. Attention to detail : the leaflet has both the bikes printed on 2 different pages; chrome photograph has a smoooth finish and glossy look and the desert storm pic has a rough sand paper finish - going along the sand color scheme on the bike!!

    Awesome.

I had honestly shifted my decision from the classic 500 to the CBR 250. Reason being the horrible condition of the test bike! yesterday as luck would have it, I had finally settled down for a cbr and me along with my family in 3 cars went to book it on dussera! on the way my car was punctured!! We some how managed to fix it, then we finally reached the showroom and guess what the showroom had shut dOWN! I believe in signs I did not give up, We tried 2 other HONDA showrooms, but alll of them shut!!

Believe me, enroute to find a Honda showroom; Every signal we stopped at there was a bullet next to our car I took it as another sign, I said if their are no showrooms open, we'll go home. But looking at all the bullets next to us, we said let us give it a shot. On the way, JMD auto (Skoda)was shut, NAvnit was shut, Honda Cars showroom shut..... but as they say there was light at the end of this road. ROyal Enfield's showroom was open. I said in my mind I will not book the normal classic.

THe moment we stepped out of the car, my I was speechless, THe classic chrome and Desert Storm on display!! I was like wtf!

I asked for the keys and the Royal Enfield came to life and I revved, the thump filled the indoors and it felt NOTHing like the test ride bike.

Smooth power delivery, very minimal vibes, the THUMP is back unlike the classic. THe desert storm sand colour paint scheme is to DIE foR!

Congrats! The Desert Storm is a looker, Wishing you happy miles with it.

Surprisingly - I had similar hallucination or things happening around me. I booked my Royal Enfield ThunderBird TwinSpark in 2008 when i was actually going to a Hero Honda Showroom to buy the Karizma and all H H Showrooms were closed that day, paving way to get the TBTS

who says that royal enfield is a beast, i am in love with my Electra since 2006. its like your wife or girlfriend. you need to talk to her, take her out, needs lots of makeup every now and then (servicing). she is not a maintenance free bike. u need to invest lots of time on it. its like proposing to her everyday early in the morning and begging to give a smile back to you.

Has anyone booked the bike? Any idea what the waiting periods are for either of these? Im getting the RE itch these days. I am waiting for the cafe racer which I hope they will release at AutoExpo.

Technically doesnt this thread have to be placed elsewhere seeing as it isnt really an ownership thread?

I booked a C500 and it had a waiting of 10 months. When the Desert Storm I just casually inquired expecting even more waiting time. Guess what Desert storm had only a 3 months waiting.Changed my booking instantly.
Desert Storm On road price is 1,55,500 in Pune. And the off road silencer is another 4500.

I like- "Bikes are not supposed to be a rational decision. If you can park it and walk away without looking back to admire it, you got the wrong one."

ex-showroom thane (incl upswept silencer and crash guard) Rs.1,67,000
Waiting period 2 months... relatively lower than CL 500 which approx. 8-10 months.
My friend just got a delivery of a turquoise blue CL 500 this dussera after booking it last year

I came to this thread from Google and look who has created it! Whats up man.

BTW, even I had booked a DS when it launched, the bike has come and now waiting for paperwork to finish to take the delivery.

RE has this bike in both desert storm & olive drab colours . But only the desert storm colour(sand-tan) is for sale in India .
Any specific reason why RE is selling foreign military colour (desert storm) in India but not our own military colours olive drab or khaki ?
