Dont know the specific rule.. but from what i have heard its the Army who has prohibited the sale of any green colour vehicles which is reserved for their own..Very True- "Motorcycling is not, of itself, inherently dangerous. It is, however, extremely unforgiving of inattention, ignorance, incompetence, or stupidity."
I like- "Bikes are not supposed to be a rational decision. If you can park it and walk away without looking back to admire it, you got the wrong one."

First Post - First BULL!
Hello Everyone,
Am new to xbhp and this is my first post.
Just booked the Desert Storm 2 days ago in Visakhapatnam.
6 months waiting period.
The Desert Storm on display at the showroom had the up swept silencer but the showroom said they will remove it before delivery and replace it with the regular model. On further inquiry, they said the bike comes to them factory fitted with the up swept silencer but they will replace it with the regular model before delivery and that we have to pay 3k if we want the up swept silencer.
Does anybody know more about this?

I have another version that was told to me by Dhone auto in Pune when I booked it. They said the bike does not come with the upswept silencer by default. Its default is the straight one. We have to pay 3k to get it fixed. Also we have to order it and wait for it to arrive in case they dont have it in stock.Originally posted by saviouravenger View PostHello Everyone,

I asked RE about the up swept silencer. They say that it doesn't come with the RE bike because its an accessory and not a part of the standard bike. So even if what your dealer says is true (which I doubt) we have to pay extra for it.Originally posted by saviouravenger View PostHello Everyone,

Yesterday, I had test ride of RE DS at HSR Agencies. When asked about the up-swept off-road silencer, the salesman said, I have to pay Rs 3 k extra for it as it was an optional accessory. Then, I asked him that if I ordered in advance, could it be exchanged in place of OE silencer so that only the additional amount could be paid. He replied in negative. I was informed that I would be given the OE silencer too after fitting the up-swept silencer for a payment of Rs 3 k.

Two days back, my son booked a RE DS at HSR Enterprises, Rajajinagar, by paying Rs 1,000 advance with a waiting period of 4 - 6 months.

I had a test ride of RE Electra from RE Brand Store, JP Nagar, a month ago as they didn't have test ride bike of DS. Today, I received follow-up call from them. I was really surprised by their follow-up notwithstanding 8 months waiting for DS there. When I informed them of our booking with their dealer, the caller took all the booking details from me.Last edited by J.Ravi; 12-01-2011, 05:03 PM.---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

RE Desert Storm
Hi. This is my first post. Got delivery of RE DS 4 days ago. Wait was about 6 weeks at Voyage Motors - Mumbai. The bike gives a great feel. Had to go out for 2 days and could not start the bike. Tonight, when tried to to start it, it would not start, as battery was discharged. I have a knee surgery , so kick start is difficult. So my first Bullet and I'm getting to know the famous Bullet temperament ! Maybe tomorrow morning enfield mechanic's name will be added to my list of" friends for life !"

Hi ! This is my first ever post in xbhp,I have read many posts regarding all different bikes, like the CBZ,R15,KARIZMA ZMR and various other bikes but my heart always beats for the ROYAL ENFIELD.Now i am in the dilemma of whether to buy the CLASSIC 350 or no ,the reason behind this is that as everybody says that enfield bikes are rust buckets and very high maintenance. So i would like to know what are the basic problems in this bike and I would also like suggestions from members of xbhp to either go with my heart and buy this bike or should i look for some other option, please guide me through this dilemma, looking forward for your valuable suggestion.Thanking you all in advance

I booked DS on OCT 6th and got it delivered on NOV 22nd eventhough while booking they put in on my booking documents that Expected delivery date is May 2012.Originally posted by Rony View PostHe RAJ, even I booked my DS from the same showroom yesterday ... I believe somehow they have ramped up production and delivering the bikes sooner than the EDD.
One of my brothers friend booked a classic 350 a week back with EDD in 4 months and yesterday he got a call if he wants a classic 500 black which he can take delivery in a week.
I changed to upswept silencer after a week of owning. It costed me 2843 Rs and thump is so much better. But just like everyone there is pop sound when decelerating after changing to this silencer. I also installed the diamond crash guard for 1050 Rs. It fits really snug and does not look big at all.Last edited by dctmfoo; 12-01-2011, 10:50 PM.

From which showroom did you get the bike delivered ?? ... The upswept silencer rates are highly variable ... yours is the least I've heard till now ... does it deteriorate the performance/mileage of the bike compared to the stock silencer ? ... The diamond crash guard looks stunning ... did you even install the rear guard ?
Finally do post some full size pictures of your beast to keep us drooling till we get ours delivered :-P

Yes, booked on dussera, 3months on... the ROYAL waitOriginally posted by Rony View Post

i feel like just going over and picking the cbR!! I just cant take this inconvenience anymore.. but afraid the cbr will get raped in the railway station or any other parking lot (to say the least)
shamelessly the RE guys reminded me (Due to my impatience) waiting was communicated as 6 months minimum.
One of my colony frnds got his RE350 classic after 8months, he advised me to stop thinking about the bike, just forget it.
then you'll get used to the feeling that you never had a bike or that you are buying one!
Never knew the "wait" could be this excruciating !
