    Planning to change front sproket to 15t for longer gearing... Any suggestions. Anyone has done this? What's the method? I've heard that we can use unicorn front sproket..

      Hi everyone! I am from Pune and I drive Honda CB shine 2012. I love to do long rides. I have done few around pune. My problem is I am tired of vibrations above 70 Kmph.
      After a long research on solution I came to know that changing front sprocket to the Unicorn's one will reduce vibrations. Anybody here has done Mods on Honda Shine here?

      Shine is currently on 41/14 Stock configuration. I have come with following options.

      1) Changing front sprocket by 15 teeth unicorn sprocket. Gear ratio will change by 6%. but its not a direct fit as it requires shaving off the edges since its .428 pitch sprocket against shine's .420 pitch sprocket.

      2) Changing the complete set with Stunner's 42/16-.428 pitch (As I read on one site) kit which will be 10% change from Stock setup. But problem with this setup is no. of chain links. Shine Needs 116 links and stunner has 126 links.

      The question is, Is it possible to reduce chain links? If yes, Will it affect the integrity of Chain and the life? ( I dont Want it to break in middle of nowhere).
      I have found some .428 pitch 116L chains online. But I doubt I could buy them indivudually.

      Also, Any suggestion on good mechanic in Nana Peth or anywhere in Pune?
      Any suggestions are welcome. Please help. I am a newbie here.

          yeah really. I asked one spare part dealer and he gave me that "Are you crazy?" look. He told me to go for shine's heavy duty kit but I refused. I will research more and next time I will compare shine and stunner's sprocket side by side and will let you know.

            I own a CB Shine for past 4 months and have clocked 3500 Kms now. I recently got my second service done. I wanted to know what engine oil have you all been using?? The Honda Engine oil (10W30) which they use at service station is below average oil per my view. The manual shows engine oil drain period of 4000 kms The kind of oil Honda uses, I have serious doubts if it would even last 2000-2500 kms. Please give your valuable inputs as to which oils can be good replacement. Currently I am looking at mineral oils only, since I have to avail the free services at their service station.

              you can use 10w30 , 10w40, 15w40, 20w40 grades. the w40 might cause a wee bit drop in mileage but is good for the engine, especially if you use the bike a lot.
              most likely the service center will not let you use oil bought from outside.
              as for brands, you can use motul , shell, castrol and honda's own 10w30 (always prefer a sealed bottle and not from their huge drums)
              these mineral oils will be good enough for around 2500 at least.. unless you are always ripping the bike.

                The manual of Honda Shine recommends Engine Oil of 10W30 grade. I am not really sure if I should change the grade of oil. I feel it will be safer to stick to Honda's recommended grade.

                I also found that the 10W30 mineral oil is not available very easily. Most of the mechanics keep 10W40, 15W40 etc but rarely 10W30.

                Please let me know what brands I can look for which would be easily available.

                  Castrol power1 has the 10w30 oil. I think shell ax7 10w40 also wont cause much damage

                    Chain sprocket is Rs. 950 /-

                    i brought exactly 1 year back, i drove almost 15k km, still its look nice bike to ride. i had changed my gear box once with warranty. Now its look fine.

                    Only one problem in the morning i have to start witth choke and idle for more than 1 mins, then only my bike will move.

                    Rest milege i am getting almost 62 km

                      I have to wait for engine warmup every single time i shut off the engine for more than 20mins..my engine is leaned out... What may be the cause?

                        Honda shine wobbling issue.

                        My Honda shine recently experiencing wobbling issues. I plan to change to change the front forks. Anybody know the price the front forks set of Honda shine?. Is it a better idea to change?..Also how to check whether the rear shocks are working properly? It's a 2 year old gabriel anand make shocks..

                          how many kms has the bike covered ?
                          wobbling started suddenly or after a crash ?

                            Done around 50k kms... It started gradually. Did not have accidents recently.
