  • Hero Impulse ownership experience

    Hi again,

Today changed the front brake disc as it was bent due to crash.

Wheel rim is still bent. And I was unable to unscrew the spokes as they might got rusted or something else.

    Wobbling is driving me crazy.

Does anyone here happened to know from where I can source Impulse's front 19" spokes?

    Need 36.

Official hero distributor said company stopped manufacturing impusle spokes.

Is there any way to retrofit any other bike's spokes ?

Also cone set is damaged so will change it this weekend. Fork is also bent. And I'm going to add a spacer kinda thing into my mosnoshock for some pre-load. As I weigh 96kg my 7month old monoshock got so soft that bike sits l so low even of noone sitting on. So space will add a pre load and can carry my weight.

    TIA.

I got the new spokes from Delhi. And its on the way to Pune.
One by one doing the repair works and lil custom work to fit my taste.

Yes I'm planing to go to Bhutan in March 19 so before that I need my impulse to be perfectly fit and fine.
Though I never need one main stand, I once broke rear wheel bearing when I was on 600km ride but never felt like having it.

            Hi

I have an 2013 Hero Impulse, 26000+ done, 100% company dealership serviced. Changed the tyres (MRFs) and battery less than a year ago. Have plans to sell by december 18/jan 2019, if I get a good price. Fully stock condition.

              Hello everyone.

I am planning to pick a used Impulse.
45k on the odo, 2012 year.

Everything works except the meter. What is the price I should be paying ?

What all should I check and how is the availability of general spares for this motorcycle ?

(help with spare availability other than thesparescompany will also help me a lot)

                Speedometer would cost around 4-5k.
The availability of general spares is easy(only general spares) which are shared with other bikes but rest are hard to find even in hero asc.
                Dont rely completely on sparescompany
they have listed each and every part ,but sometimes its difficult for them to get some parts
and takes time to get them.

And what spares are shared ? Kindly throw some light as I am little new to the Impulse.

I am from Uttarakhand and as the saying goes, biking culture is not developed here. Will this be a hurdle in procuring parts ?

I am 300 odd kilometres away from Delhi.

Price around 25 to 30k depending on the condition.
Some consumables like timing chain etc are shared with other bikes.

I am also from uttarakhand bro, from the capital dehradun.
Sourcing parts for my karizma is an headache somtimes ,which was sold way more than impulse.

Sourcing them in Haldwani would be more difficult

A bike run 45k is up for sale ,means that it would require some part replacement ,if the owner hasnt done so.

The console doesn't work and looks like the front forks also need some tidying up, nothing big on the suspension front.

Apart from that, everything is working fine.

And yes, I am worried about the same - 45k kms ! Engine rework looming close, what all engine components does it NOT share with the unicorn ?

The owner has no idea about the rare availability of these spares and I do not think the bike has got anything changed regarding suspension or even the swing arm bushes !

Let's see how the deal goes.

He is the owner ,he wont say anything negative about the bike.
Piston etc life may be less ,depends how the owner has ridden it for 45k kms, timely engine oil was changed or not.
                        High risk here.

How do I check these ?

And are the piston and other engine parts available around ? What other motorcycle shares these ?

Unfortunately theres no way to identify engine life.
                            Cant say about spares availability.

I would say, take a good mechanic with you. Check for any oil leakage from the cylinder. Check if the clutch plates or gearbox make noise while shifting, check for any tapering noise or knocks from engine and finally run the bike upto a decent speed to know the engine condition and stability.
