    Hello,

    I'm looking for crank balancing gear for Hero impulse. I'm unable to find any parts catalog on web and also SVC guys aren't capable of searching part number for me.
    Can anyone here is familiar with crank balancing gear/ idle gear ?

    need urgent help. My mechanic said that part is common with Unicorn engine but same issue that the guys at Honda store unable to get the data and part number for the same.

            So, I got my Impulse ZMA-ed too finally. It's been a while on XBhp and my rides have been less frequent now. Nevertheless a mod done which was much awaited. Click image for larger version

              How was the perfomance on road and offroad? Please share your experience with the new engine.

                Performance is great. The ZMA mill is torquey and cruises easy on highways with approximately 1000-1200 rpm less on a given speed as compared to stock Impulse, i.e. the motor is less busy. Vibes are minimal (inevitable with a bigger mill) not bothering enough and not hampering any chassis dynamics and handling whatsoever. Fine by me atleast. Offroads a charm now. Climbing slopes and uphill is way easy.
                I'm yet to do some high-altitude runs on the same. Although I'm running on the stock Impulse's carb on the ZMA mill for now, ill be going for something else.

                    Buddy can you share the details the breakup ? I'm looking forward to do the same but some mech are charging so high.

                      Sourcing the engine is one thing. The condition of the same and the consequent reconditioning will come with it. So engine overhauling and parts reqd if necessary have to be changed.

                      Apart from the engine nothing major needs to be changed while going in for an engine swap. I'm running on stock CDI unit of Impulse and Carb. Ive had bad experiences with ZMA carb thus discarded the same. Will search for another 26mm carb, maybe of Unicorn etc. Meanwhile the stock 28mm runs perfect. Wiring remains the same and only the Charger unit of Impulse needs to be replaced with a bigger ZMA one. New comes for 2000rs approx. A bigger battery of 6 or 7amps should do more good. The starter motor of ZMA being heavy might drain the battery quick but a bigger charger unit and a tad big battery does the work just nice.

                      So only cost incurred on the engine swap I guess should be charger unit, battery, labour cost, engine. I had a engine sourced for 10k. Charger unit for 1k, 2k labour and miscellaneous. 13k I had it all done. Battery is yet to be replaced.

                        What happened with zma carb? Was thinking of getting the racing cdi but that would put me off by 5-6k. Do update me when you find the perfect carb than of the impulse.
                        For wiring you used the stock wiring or had to be replaced? I might have to get the bigger battery coz I already have 2 pair of fog lights on it and the starter motor getting heavy I don't want to get stranded.
                        Don't you need a stainless steel exhaust and filter ? Where did you do it from ?

                          13k doesn't sound much for making the bike more practical to use TBH. The ZMA/ZMR range would currently cost a lot more than the price you paid for the Impulse at the time of buying, plus the recent modifications and engine swapping.

                            The ZMA carb tends to malfunction a lot. I've already had friends change 2-3 carbs on their Zma-ed Impulse and Karizma. This refrained me from going for the same. 26mm ZMA's carb is 28mm is that of Impulse. I decided to stick with the latter for the while. It runs perfect and it won't go anywhere (it hasn't yet with 60000+kms on stock Impulse.) This carb will have high-altitude problems though. Thus I'll go for the 26mm again but not of ZMA maybe of Unicorn.

                            Stock wiring, yes. Just the alterations you need is a couple of wires to incorporate the new Charger Unit as I said, that of ZMA. Go for a bigger battery just for the sake of being at the safe side. Though charger unit of ZMA works like a charm but theres no harm in having extra juice in your battery than running out of the same at a no man's land. The less intricate wiring and minimum alterations and the simplicity of the Impulse will not allow any breakdowns. I'm running on a drained battery that's leftover yet to replace (maybe this weekend), and with one auxiliary 20W LED, a kickstart on the morning and it cranks up like a charm.

                            Using the stock bend for the while (its too restrictive for the stock mill, too much for the ZMA) Need to source a SS pipe. I fabricated the rear pipe steel (not SS). Heat wrapped it.

                              True. More thinking than action I believe. Wiring, electricals and other stuffs are what mechanics prey upon. A simpler solution with minimal changes enough to cater to your needs is what's the wise way. There was no point in going full DC on the wiring and the engine I procured was in a beautiful condition. That too for 10k was a steal deal. Apart from engine 5-6k should be the expenditure, ballpark.

                                When you got the engine, lot of work had to be done? I have got an offer now for the engine with new cylinder kit, wiring, zma cdi and the SS exhaust for 30k this was already being used in his impulse.

                                The carb can be real issue. High altitude is where the power starts dipping, need to find a solution for that and if sorted it'll be just perfect.

                                Do you feel satisfied with the mod? Please Do drop a short review of the change once you have done some hilly Off-roads and touring. [emoji51]

                                I will follow that anyways. Right now those 4 aux lights do take a toll during some morning start and it take few kicks and self to get it started. Another reason is that I don't take the bike out for a week or two.
