One small question.
When I asked the engineer at the Hero showroom in Pune (Mahadeo Mandir chowk), he said that the rear shock preload adjustments can be done only at the ASC and not by the owner by himself as is usually done for other bikes (even the CBR 250R's rear preload can be adjusted at home). Is this true? This issue is a major one for me and may be the only hindrance which prevents me from buying the bike - I would like a bike whose rear suspension can be adjusted in a jiffy to change from highway tourer to offroad jumper!
Thanks in advance
the rear shock cannot be adjusted on the impluse, its fixed for preload and damping. i dont know whether the hero service can open up the rear shock and add a stiffer / lossy spring from stock one.Mountain biking on impulse with my wife and our bike goes down in water

Long suspension are good even on tarmac but since the bike has higher center of gravity, you need to be consious while taking sharp turn on road.Originally posted by easy rider View PostHow does the bike handle on the tarmac? I am sorry, I will check with the machanic while I go to the Hero workshop.Originally posted by icemang View PostAnd sorry, you have nor answered the question I had posed
I also think the same however let us check with Hero machanic to confirm.Originally posted by harikeshpk View Postthe rear shock cannot be adjusted on the impluse, its fixed for preload and damping. i dont know whether the hero service can open up the rear shock and add a stiffer / lossy spring from stock one.Last edited by NarenCharan; 12-21-2011, 11:49 PM.Papa always emphasize on making my own path...

Thanks for the reply man. I'm waiting to ride the impulse and see how it handles on and off road. Btw, I'm sure you might be getting a lot of attention on the road due to the impulse's dirt bike lookOriginally posted by NarenCharan View PostLong suspension are good even on tarmac but since the bike has higher center of gravity, you need to be consious while taking sharp turn on road.

hey congratz for impulse.. most common question to ask...Originally posted by NarenCharan View PostThanks for your curiosity, I and the other Impulse owner will plesaed to reply you all.
Thanks. I can post some picture of the bike on different tarrains but clicking machine in action is not possible as I ride the bike alone.
Wellcome on the crazy boat of Impulse owners .
I like the engine very much. Very smooth engine with no vibration at any rev range.
I know and I am planing to change the graphics/sticker of Impulse with NXR 150 Bros . Does anybody have friend or relative in Brazil ???
I am also plan to swape the two engine panels punched with Hero with Honda Unicorn. I do not know what exactly you call them.
Yes the engine is a bit different but who cares since the engine of Impulse is also a latest engine from Honda with almost same power / torque of NXR 150 Bros. This engine seems to be 100% same at Honda Unicorn with a little bit tuning to increase the torque.
I completed the run in period in just 3 days . The top speed I could touch is 104 KMPH (as per odometer) and in off road, the engine does not seem to me much underpower. Note that I rode the bike in soft sand and on 5000 RPM, the power delivery of engine was good. The best part of this bike is the suspension, they are superb. I jumped 6 inch devider with a great ease. You can do a lot with this bike. Also it has got a good loading area where I tie my bag when I ride.
I would try to reply all of them.
Did you try adjusting the rear suspension in your Pulser? How much difference do they make. I have tried it in my earlier bike and actually they hardly make any difference. Also the travel of the rear suspension in Impulse is so much that you did not feel requirement of adjusting them any further. The existing set us up is good for highway and offroad both.
I am lazy dog when it comes to writing something still I will try my level best. I enjoy riding the bike on highway, on kachcha road and a bit on offroad. I was happy with her performance everywhere. You just need to learn how to balance the bike shifting your weight and here the fun begins. I was able to touch 70 KMPH on a gravel road, it was a superb experience.

I did kept on checking the exhaust heat but the protecter shield does it work very efficiently and not heat issue.
1. Overall the seat is quite soft which means no pain in your butts even after long rides. The rear seat is quite high compared to the other commuter bikes so yes the ladies in saree are not going to like it much.
2. If you have Pulser 150, you will feel almost the same power. But suspension and riding position of Impulse will creat a huge difference.
3. No vibration, very stable.
4. Light is not bad but not very good either. I am used to drive in nights with 130W watts in my car so riding with a 35W AC bulb is not what I prefere. For better light what trick I am using on the bike is that I put the bean on low and whenever I need more light, I press the flasher button, flasher is DC connection to the high beam. This way both the filaments glows, the high beam on DC current and low beam on AC.
whats the millage bhai???
waiting for the reply...

Congrats on the new ride.
Do you feel confident riding at slow speeds on rough terrain.
How about riding standing on footpegs in uphill.
How is the handle bar position in riding standing up.Last edited by twistwrist; 12-22-2011, 10:42 PM.

I can offer you to ride my bike on off the road too, come to my town if you want. Yes, a lot of attention. Wanted to share a couple of crazy comments from people.Originally posted by easy rider View PostThanks for the reply man. I'm waiting to ride the impulse and see how it handles on and off road. Yesterday :: One man asked me the most common question - Kitne me padi bhaisahad (how much is it bro?). I replied - 76,000. He asked very curiously - Aisa fir isme kyaa hai (what this bike has so special on such a price). I was not sure what to reply. Here he fired his next question - Average kitna hai (what is the mileage). I replied - somewhere between 40 to 50 depending upon riding style. He was shocked - Baas, fir bhi itni mahangi (only 40-50 KMPH and still so expensive)
.
Today :: A 15-16 year guy to his friend : Are dekh yaar is gaadi ki seat, aaraam se chaar jane baith sakte hai (look at the seat, it can accomodate 4 persons easily)
.
I have not yet checked. I will now check and post here.Originally posted by anandmanmadhan View Posthey congratz for impulse.. most common question to ask...

Thanks for the information. Need some pointer please.Originally posted by yamdoot View PostHi, Congrats on the new Off roader! the fork gaitors can be ordered from imported parts importers.
As per manual the kerb weight of the bike is 134 Kg.Originally posted by Wildnerd View PostI have conflicting info on this.. Some websites quote the bike's weight as much as 135Kgs..
Hence i wanted to clarify the actual figure..
Blue colour is my favourate too. I actually opted black as I think it will look a bit decent if I take my bike office sometime.Originally posted by trnaren View PostCongratulations to the new impulse owners. I have booked one and hope to get delivery in mid jan since i opted for the blue color...
Planing to take my bike on my favourate off road track which is around my town and which I have done a saveral times on my earlier ex army Jeep MM550XD. That is really a challenging terrain with lots of incline, dry riverbed, dry brooks, rocks, sand dunes etc and I doubt if Impulse (or perhaps any other bike without a well experienced off road rider) would be able to do thatOriginally posted by trnaren View PostWaiting to hear more on serious off roading capabilities of Impulse and/or lacuna of the same

Thanks.Originally posted by twistwrist View PostDK,

How is the handle bar position in riding standing up.
1. Yes, very confident.
2. Simply superb on bumpy road/ off road. I managed to climb aprox 6-7 inch devider very easily in that position.
3. Handle bar position is simply superb.
Yesterday my bike was taken on test ride by very experienced dirt biker Bhalla Ram who is winner in many competion including last year's Desert Storm rally (group C I guess). He was very happy after the test ride, he said that this bike has all the caracteristic of a foreign dirt bike. When I asked how did he feel the power, he said it is decent for normal off roading use. I am going to learn a few basics of dirt biking from him.
Here you go...Originally posted by adnansanni View PostCongratulation Guys... wait for pictures...Last edited by NarenCharan; 12-22-2011, 11:09 PM.Papa always emphasize on making my own path...

Congrats man, had a go at it here in bangalore on a bad stretch and was pretty amazed how it soaked everything up, it definitely is a fun bike,
Couple of questions:
- Does the heat from the silencer effect the pillion?(in the odd case you need to accommodate one
)
- Headlights:- How is your night riding experience?- You spend half your life before you realize your are ordinary, you then, either are too lazy to change or you do the extraordinary and change the world!
