Anyway, getting back to your questions, I changed the stock rear at around 9k kms. Tyres aren't supposed to run out that fast, but well, mine is a second-hand ride, and given the way the earlier owner had abused her (which was apparent from the 40k I had to shell out on repairs and servicing just after I bought her), it was apparent the tyres were probably abused too (burnouts and stuff are so common these days!).
I bought the Dhoom 3 for 3100/- from a local tyre shop.
My baby blade is nearing 18000 kilometers on the Odo, nearly 9k kms on the Dhoom 3. The grip has been decent, it seems to have a lot of life left. But as of what I've experienced, this tyre seems dangerous in the wet! I've used by bike for some good highway commuting in the rains, and even braking with 50% pressure results in the rear tyre locking up and fishtailing! I even had a light fall recently, but that was in completely dry conditions, I was taking a u-turn somewhere in my complex, leaned in a bit, and as I powered out of the curve, the bike powerslid and we both landed on the concrete road, and I was like, "where in the hell did that come from?!?!!"
So honestly, I would NOT recommend this tyre to anyone. If anyone is looking for a good tyre, I'd suggest the MRF Revs series. Changed my front tyre to an MRF and boy, the braking and cornering have become so much better!
And, what I'd really recommend to anyone out here, is to go with the Michelin Pilot Street Radial. Have heard it's one of the best tyres for this bike. Yes, it is priced at the higher end, but in my opinion, if you're into corner-carving and stuff, and if you really are that kind of person that enjoys each and every bit of his relationship with his bike, it's best to save up and get her the best. That's what I intend to do. As soon as the Dhoom 3 crosses 20-25k kms, I'm going to get my baby blade a Pilot Street Radial! And I'm going to do the same for the front tyre as well!
