Did you enquire about the 250R too?

    Honda cbr availability

    Hello riders,

(Moderators, please move this to the appropriate thread if there is any, I do not know where to post this exactly)

Some time before, I heard that Honda had discontinued CBR twins (150R and 250R), and also we were not able to see those in their website.

But, yesterday, I went to Honda showroom (Madurai, TN) with my friend to inquire about any launch of CBR updated version. (As he was interested in CBR).

The showroom people said that they accept bookings of CBR (that old single head lamp version with STAR stickers) and the OTR price will be Rs. 1.42 L (for 150R). The booking cost is Rs. 5000.

The waiting period will be 1 to 1.5 months. I was told that, the bike will be manufactured based on bookings.

    Is that true?

So, the CBRs are not yet discontinued?

Will that be BS4 and AHO?

It might seem like an overkill, but to me it doesn't matter much since I mostly use the bike for long rides on highways. The bike is sluggish in the city but at highway it accelerates nicely at high RPMs - sweet DOHC engine. My weight is less than 40 kgs, so I already have an acceleration advantage over most other riders.

This will be an overkill for an always out of breath engine like the one on cbr150.

    Which tyre you have previously?
My cbr came with TVS tyres as stock. Currently 15k kms on odo. Front tyre have enough grip, but rear tyre fish tails alot in muddy roads & zero confidence grip on wet roads. I will change my rear tyre to MRF REVZ S at 20k kms.

Whether cbr 250 kit is suitable for cbr 150?
    Is direct fit possible?
    Any drawbacks?

Have you cleaned the oil strainer screen located in the right side of crankcase? I believe it is supposed to be cleaned every 12000 kms.

Engine oil strainer screen should be cleaned for every 12k kms interval. But i don't want to remove crankcase for just strainer screen cleaning. In future while replacing clutch plates i will clean it. I think clogged oil filter causes problems in oil pressure but strainer screen doesn't.

Done 15k kms in 16 months from purchase.

    Maintenance cost

    810 first servicing *(800km)

    857 second servicing (3400km)

    800 third service (7200km)

1087 fourth service (air filter change) (10400km)

    2000 2nd year insurance

    250 spark plug change (12500km)

1000 engine oil & front wheel bearings replacement (12900km)

    Total 6804rs

Front wheel bearings replaced for my peace of mind although mechanic was saying stock bearings are in good condition.

Stock chain sprocket kit & both side brake pads in good condition!

CBR is awesome bike, you just need to do periodic maintenance. replace those parts which needs replacement for certain kms interval like air filter, spark plug, brake pads, chain sprocket kit, fuel filter and bike will run for thousands of kms without trouble!

I do all bike job by myself, for jobs beyond my limits i take help of local mechanic.
I will purchase the required tools (ring spanners, socket wrench) and do it myself next time. Not worth paying such high costs for a small and easy job like chain sprocket replacement.
