Re: Hyosung GV650 - Aquila Pro

I got my Aquila pro a week ago. I must say it is worth every penny. I drove 1000 kms on it already. The seats are very comfortable and no vibrations ( i went to max speed of 90 km/h).

The only few drawbacks I found was:
      1) Gear shift was a little hard (maybe because of the extension from gearbox to the lever for cruiser style)
      2) As pointed out by others the the speedometer and light switch looks cheap
      3) The "oil change" screw is underneath so need to take extra care on speed breakers. I did bump through one such speed breaker here in Bangalore which loosened that screw a bit.

here's few pic of my Night Fury

I haven't riden much in the city on this bike. I use my other bike for daily commute. however, from the little experience I have:
          1) its not comfortable in slow moving traffic, as you can feel hot ait blowing to your legs and pretty soon it starts getting uncomfortable.
          2) Its like a car and you can't manouver it like other small bikes. The bike itself is stable at low speeds.
          3) Need to be extra cautions on speed breakers as I mentioned in my earlier post.
          4) However, if you are talking about a light traffic within city then you'll enjoy the ride.

          Thanks,
          Vijesh

the reason i wanted to talk to you is to have a look at the bike in flesh and blood and discuss over a coffee the pros and cons before i take the plunge.

Doing a trip from Bangalore to Coimbatore tomorrow, and wanted to make sure i can get premium petrol enroute/in Coimbatore. While surfing, noticed that IOC regular petrol itself is 91 octane (from what i see in the website). Have folks used this and ran into any issues? Or can someone confirm if Premium petrol is available in Coimbatore ? Thanks in advance.

Awesome trip to Coimbatore. 364Kms X 2. Each took between 5.5 to 6.5 hours.
Roads were superb, especially the stretch from Salem to CBE was very scenic (see photos)

                            Highlights :
                            * crossed my run-in period fully, so experimented on the speed. touched 140 kmph briefly. Being a heavy bike, did not face stability issues.
                            * bike's sweet spot is below 100.
                            * till 120 is manageable, but some vibration in the foot pegs. above that the wind resistance and noise is too much - unless one is a thrill seeker not enjoyable over long distances.
                            * I did not have wind shield - perhaps that might help at higher speed.
                            * The regular STUDDS helmet is no good at higher speed. Mine was a little loose as well, and if i had to turn slightly to check the blind spot the helmet would shift. So, make sure you have really good snug fit, and something better than the JC road (bangalore) helmets for higher speeds.
                            * Mileage - approx 25, but would have been better if i had kept to 85. I rode a lot of distance at 120 (just to experiment)
                            * Periodically check the saddle bags, and ensure there is nothing loose. When i reached coimbatore, i noticed one of the hook had come off and was stuck in the brake !!!
                            * Felt lot more confident on the braking (as compared to my Avenger)
                            * I used regular petrol from IOC (per their website, it is 91 octane - though none of the pump personnel could confirm)

                            overall very enjoyable ride !

finally equipped myself with good bike gear (it put a big hole in my purse though)

                                Shoei Qwest Diverge Helmet
                                Dainese Xantum Jacket
                                Dainese gloves
                                Alpine Stars level-2 back protector
                                Knee guards
                                (boots pending)

With these, i tested the limits on my bike and touched 160briefly love my bike and the gear.
