Re: Hyosung GV650 - Aquila Pro

Got my 3rd service done. About 2500 Kms ridden.
Horn went bad - within warranty so got it fixed for free.
Rear brakes worn out Rs 2.5K.
Service center quality has gone down from worse to pathetic.
Almost a year since i bought, and havent received RC book yet.

Its the RTO's job to send out RC within 21 days. Take your invoice and SVC receipts to the concerned RTO and find out.

Thanks - I will check out. When I bought my Bajaj Avenger, I got the RC book from the agency without much hassles. I can surely say the overall customer service experience with Bajaj Motors is far better than this. It took almost 6 months for them to even apply for registration of my bike (while i was kept informed all the time they had applied and it was RTO delaying it)

Its the dealers/agencies that bring bad name to a company. Because, they're the face of a company!
Get in touch with the dealer as well as the RTO and check if they have even started the process or not.

Is rear brake replacement at 2500kms normal, or i am using brakes excessively ? dont remember changing brakes on my Avenger atleast for 3 years - perhaps due to that being a much lighter bike.

2500km is way too early for all kind of brake pads. Sintered or ceramic or whtever.
You might be in habit of keeping your foot on lever.
But anyway why 3rd service on 2500km??

Yes, i am overall happy with the bike itself. Its mainly the service center - it is almost like a paan shop - does not even have a board, and it is in the basement garage of some building. Yet to find someone in this agency who has passion for bikes. I dont mind this if i am buying a TVS-50 but expect much better from a super bike agency.

Otoh - when i bought my Avenger (sorry to keep comparing with that - that is the only other bike i own ) - when i went for my first service i was really impressed with the service center - the professionalism, environment, the cleanliness, attire of the service personnel......

Thanks. For the first two years, there is a time-based clause also - if i miss those services, i believe the warranty can become void. First service is after a month, second service after 3 months, and 3rd service after 9 months. So far, i have spent > 10K on the 3 regular service without any major repairs. Have heard similar amounts for HD servicing also, so that seems to be in the ballpark.

Reg the brakes: I have used the bike primarily for long distance rides only - so doubt if I had used my brakes heavily. I was expecting the service center personnel to give me some inputs on what is a reasonable wear or if i am braking too heavily - they have no clue about it.

Ok so you did the time , before you did the miles!
HD service costs 5-6k ( done every 8k km). Engine oil alone gets to 3k. I got my rear brake pads replaced at 8k few months ago, cost 2700 for rear only.
But then HD riders do shit load of miles at crazy speeds.
I remember reaching 1600km before the 1st week , when i bought sportster. Most riders get there 10k patch in first few months of ownership. And most HOGs with all age groups included do 140- 150kmph almost everyday of their lives.
I don't know y but no one rides another set of wheels once you have a Harley.
I haven't touched my car in past 5 months. Not even once! I fear cars battery is going to be dead because of it.
Most local Hogs are now nearing 30k- 50k, with most bikes being 1 to 2 yr old.
I suppose like me, they have also not touched their cars.
We have HD s here ranging from brand new to 2008 imported ones.
Chrome and paint is so damn good that prediction of manufacturing year based on appearance is not possible at all.
I had some trouble with side stand spring, but it has been sorted for good at dealership.
I am not sure what sort of long rides you have been doing with 2500km in 365days?
PS: I have not been on any official organised HOG rides. Rides that take you far and wide.

Facing a starter problem. The bike's electronic starter is not working. Have to do push start each time Problem surfaced right after my previous service.
Initially thought it might be related to petrol quality, but faced the same problem with multiple bunks. It was intermittent initially, but now completely phut - except for the noise. Hate to visit the hyosung service center in bangalore such a poorly maintained office.

The new break pads also have worn off - only 30% remaining 4500 kms mileage so far.
Perhaps it is rubbing against the disc constantly - though i had asked them to check in the last 2 services.
I rarely use it in city, so still puzzled on the level of wear.

Some vehicles have that characteristic. Eating brake pads too soon!
If you are not facing any other braking trouble like brake fade , unpredictable stoping power, vibration in brake pedal under braking , i would take pad wear for what it is.
Like suzuki intruder 1800 eats its rear tyre every 5k km, no matter how you ride it.
If you suspect your pads are forcefully rubbing against disk, i would suggest , taking it to an open road. Avoid using brakes as far as possible
Stop and fee disk temp with your fingers( careful it could be very hot).
Bring it to ambient temp and then ride a km or two without using brakes!
If you find your disk unduly hot after that , your caliper is surely misaligned wrt disk.
Hydraulic brakes need no adjusting for pad wear/ new pad etc and under no condition a brake pad would forcefully rub against disk unless lever is pressed.

Only when caliper is in a different plane than the disk , pads wear faster than normal.
You're never lost if ya don't care where the road is headed

So looks like the starting problem had to do with the battery. I believe the service center had messed up with the battery - the problem started the very next day after my previous service, and i was suspecting it to be related to fuel. I reported it subsequently and they reported it due to battery drain. As part of service it has got recharged, but 10 days after that battery is down again and i cant start the bike. I have never faced this problem before my 5th service. While the quality of the bike is not good, the service center is absolutely pathetic - it looks like a pan shop with folks showing no zeal or knowledge about bike servicing.
