Have seen it in many Bajaj bikes. A common issue.
    Especially the Old Pulsar 200, 220-fi, 220 Dtsi, Avenger 200 & Avenger 220.
A very loud breaking sound comes from the left side of engine when we start the bike.
Haven't faced any such issues ,thougj jave heard a few cases. Can be considered as isolated events maybe.

    Cheers

Guess I must update this thread. At about 62,000kms I gave my bike for a complete overhaul, not had it had any serious issues, but just a birthday present fro my dear bike.
Had done quite a bit of work to bring her back to top condition. Do not that post 20,000 kms all the servicing was done by me itself, apart from any works on the engine, which was done at my mechanics place, which accounted to just once till now from 20,000kms.
So now this time around had a few works to get done.
          1. Timing chain was making noise.
          2. Clutch plates took a hit since the last clutch plate change(stock plates) was changed at 47k, but the friction plates was the same one, guess I did a foolishness there. So soon the
friction plates gave in and took out the clutch plates too.
          3. Swing-arm bush was kaput
          4 .A few sensor malfunction
          5. Chain sprocket change
          6. Valve seating
          7. Head de-carb
and a few other minor works too.

So, gave the bike for servicing , the head and block was removed for the first time, and found a small problem. There was a problem of oil blow-by, nothing major, the rings would soon start to degrade. I'm guessing what caused the blow by was using the RC FFE and not re-jetting the carb and was also running a lean mixture, causing the blow-by/oil burning problem(P.S: Been using the FFE for about 30,000kms now), it's just a theory,no idea if it's true.
Anyways,So I had two options in front of me, go for a re-bore or go for a stock piston -block set. Since I din't want to take chances with a re-bore (lack of proper equipment to do a neat work) , so stuck to stock replacement. I will post a pic of the piston here taken from the svc, I have the old piston block with me now , so will post clearer photos later. And the good part was the piston block din't cost much, came under 2k range. I have the detailed bill with me, will post it if anyone wants the updates price list of spares.

          Pic of the piston

          Pic of the piston

The con-rod had no lateral movement when I had it checked. So no work was done on the crank. Just some of the bearings changed. The clutch side was completely overhauled, with change in friction plates and clutch plates.

          Other works done where.

          Chain sprocket change
          Valve seating
          Head cleaning/De-carb
          Timing chain replacement
          Swing arm bush replacement
          Ball Racer changed
Spark Plugs changed(old one's were changed at 25,000kms NGK plugs, now running on champion)
Shifter rod had worn out so, got that changed too.

Work took about 3 days, as they din't have the cylinder block in stock and had to get the spare on order.
Got the bike back on 28th march and went for a run-in ride next day of 300kms, The shifter was too stiff, had the problem of really hard shifts through out the trip, then after the trip put on a 100more kms and changed oil to Motul 3000 mineral. Since that the shifts have been really smooth.
Doing a progressive run-in now, almost 750kms covered(less riding now a days, exam time). Yesterday tried taking her to high rpm, the bike showed a little trouble climbing up, guess it's just getting used to it. Ned to take the progressive run-in to the next notch soon.

And after about 2k kms will do an overview of how well the re-build went.

These are the updates as of now, Will post pics of the piston and block soon. And also, I have the updated price list of quite a few spare parts with me in the bill. So if anyone wants any details do post here, I'll get back to you on that.

          Cheers

              Hai mayank.
Yes will post a review soon. After 18th. My exams get over then.
Yes using the ffe. Planning to change to stock for obvious reasons. Need to try to rectify the problem with the stock exhaust and fit it back.
Will post the bill soon. Will scan it out and post here.

very wonderful and detailed review KRISH...mine is a 2012 220f!!i hav clocked 11000 on odo(very less)..but still this beast behaves as this has just came out of factory!!the probleams i faced so far are RR unit damaged(at 6000kms) because of which the bike was unable to start even after pushing the bike for kms!!but somehow managed to get to the showroom and got it replaced under warranty.and other problems are heavy fairing vibrations!!the reason is whole fairing is made of plastic fibre whereas the rvms are made of iron..so because of their heavy weight they are causing a lot of vibrations...apart from these no problems are encountered

Nothing can be done about the RVM vibes, probably getting the Apache one's fixed, or another option is the ZMR mirrors, but it will be an eyesore to look at.
Then fairing vibrations can be almost nullified if you are able to get the fairing double taped. Pretty simple and neat stuff to do. Won't cost much too.

                      Cheers

Will be reduced to a bear minimum and when i say, minimum, I do mean minimum.

Vibes are almost a given in most of the bikes especially in the 200 and above cc category of Bajaj. Taping, stuffing all will NOT KILL the vibrations per se but as Krish said will reduce it marginally,

                              Cheers!

I have a query regarding my new P220f. I am in the process of completing my running-in period.

                                1. The speed ratio as per the manual says
                                0-1000Kms- 1st gear/15, 2nd gear/30, 3rd gear/45 , 4th gear/55, 5th gear/65
                                1000-2000Kms- 1st gear/20, 2nd gear/40, 3rd gear/55, 4th gear/65, 5th gear/75

As per the ASC guys they have flatly instructed me to keep the speed below 50 kmph without mentioning any rpm specifications. I have done 200kms till now. Today I had to leave wifey to office from Dl-ggn which is around 40 kms . I noticed the bike struggling since both of us are in the weight ratio of 70 and she also carries hep laptop which is around 20 kgs.

                                a. Is it advisable to carry pillion sometimes during running in ?
                                b. How is the running in to be followed ? As per ASC or the manual ?
