Re: Radiator Repair?
Can you post a pic of the damages ?Originally posted by diaslemuel View PostHey Guys, I own a Ninja 300 and some time ago had given the bike for washing at the local washing centre. Unfortunately my regular guy wasnt there and the new person ended up directing the water pressure towards the radiator. Now some fins are bent. Already considered to straighten the fins. However I stumbled upon a Radiator repair shop in Fort area who said he can replace the radiator core with same spec core for 4500 INR only. This sounds tempting and yet raising questions should I go ahead
A new one from showroom cost of 30k upwards and add to that the difficulty in sourcing esp with bajaj and kawasaki parting
The replacement of the core cost 4500 (Local shop)
The straightening of the core cost 700-1000
I havent felt any significant increase in the bike operating

Re: Kawasaki Ninja 300 Ownership Experience
If iam not wrong, in ninja, the speedometer sensor takes reading form the front sprocket and hence there will be a difference speedo reading when the sprockets are changed form the stock form.Originally posted by vickks View Post
However, since then the speedo is displaying weird fluctuating readings. Till about 15kmph, it remains same as other bikes, but as speed increases, the error
It doesnot take reading from the front wheel like many commuter bike does.

Re: Kawasaki Ninja 300 Ownership Experience
Just try with the old front sprocket alone. Since the speedo is connected with the front sprocket, I suspect that to be the problem area.Originally posted by vickks View PostHello all!

Owing to the non availability of spares, I tried doing some swaps with other bikes.
The chain sprocket was due for change quite sometime..
Finally when 4/14 teeth chipped off the front sprocket last week, decided to search for a brand matching the specifications. Rolon dealer didn't had stock.
Found Yamaha R3's front sprocket an exact match and rear is a teeth more, with same internal dia. Same fits without any mod. Got the chain to 108 links .520 pitch (due to increased circumference of the rear sprocket)
However, since then the speedo is displaying weird fluctuating readings. Till about 15kmph, it remains same as other bikes, but as speed increases, the error increases. 62kmph at 4k rpm on 6th gear earlier now shows 45kmph and 118kmph at 8k now shows 92kmph. But actually the bike is doing the same speed as earlier. Compared it with GPS and other bikes. Higher the speed, higher is the fluctuation.. Like in 70s, the speedo shows a constant visible 7 and the unit's place shuffles between 0 to 9, unreadable. Speedo indicated speeds above 90kmph shuffles between 80s to 100s and 6th gear max out at 150kmph.
Riding at around 15-20kmph, a km would show around .9km on my odo and at normal speeds, 9km was shown as 6.7km.
Now today I installed a 106 link .520 pitch chain and stock 42 teeth rear with the R3's 14 teeth front sprocket, making it a stock spec, however the speedo shows the same error readings.
What do I do now? Literally in a fix! Only option now is to check with old front sprocket and old chain.

Re: Kawasaki Ninja 300 Ownership Experience
Got it through a friend flying in from the US. You can search pyramid plastics front fender extender for Ninja 300, or R&G Front fender extender. Tried to make it from India, the quality and shape was not up to my desired comfort levelsOriginally posted by themachinehead View PostTimeless beauty. Fender extender looks really useful. I will get it too. Where did u procure it? I just hope they get to my city soon.
.Tried dukes, NS200's and various other bikes extenders, which doesn't gel well with the shape of our bike. This one is perfect. Just that you need 3 holes in your mudguard

The new service center works are going in full swing . It will be the second service center in the whole of Karnataka.
Got the front fender extender 2 months ago, a great radiator saver it is. No muck reaches the radiator in whatever rain condition it is.
Also got her the Pirelli Diablo Rosso II . Hoping to take her to track again soon. Michelin did a good job, but I never was a fan of that front tyre, hence changed. Attaching some pics

The Kawasaki service centre in Kasturba Road is fully functional and does have oil filter and other immediate spare parts for Ninja 300 and above readily available. Do contact them if you are in Bangalore. Almost all KTM dealers have 0 stock of Kawasaki parts, the old stocked parts will be send to Kawasaki service is what I heard.
Cheers

Re: Kawasaki Ninja 300 Ownership Experience
Thats good. Do update here if you come to know about any leads of new service centres opening. AFAIK, there are 2 new sales/service coming up in Kerala along with the existing stand alone one and a new service centre work has already begun in Bengaluru. The bad thing is Kawasaki not updating anything with the customers. I think the Ninja 300 is the most sold model for them in India and parts issue is worse across bikes. I have a friend here in metro who owns a Z800 and had to wait more than a month to get his hand on an oil filter. The mechanics are really good though. Thats the only advantage. But I think future looks good. Its a wait and watch game.Originally posted by themachinehead View PostI'm based in lucknow. I managed to get a Ninja filter from a local service shop which deals in r3s and n300s.

I'm based in lucknow. I managed to get a Ninja filter from a local service shop which deals in r3s and n300s.Originally posted by Ivin View PostI will confirm Bangalore status by tomorrow evening. 80% KTM showrooms are out of Kawasaki parts. I will call Kawasaki themselves and ask the status.
+91 98204 74470. This is the new number of Kawasaki team in Mumbai. They could help you.
Cheers
Best would be not changing the filter in this service. Change oil alone, fill 2L of new oil. Please refer to service book for exact oil amount to be used when not changing oil filter. You can change filter in the next service. Where are you based in ?
Also please not that Ninja 650 uses same oil filter as 300. You could ask for that as well. Chances are you might find one somewhere

I am not sure about why that roughness is there. Try switching back to 5100 and see id the smoothness is back or is it just your mind
