I own a ninja 250 2010 model, after the breakup of bajaj and kawasaki, price wise and quality of service has seen a change at the kawasaki bangalore service center, hence i stopped visiting them. i get the parts that are available at aliexpress, like the clutch cable, throttle cable and oil filter from Aliexpress and get them fitted from indimottard, they do a nice job and are cost efficient too.

Thanks Ivin. Also, any recommended mechanics in Bangalore for small issues or niggles that I could visit? I want to avoid going to the service center for minor issues since their labour charges are very high

Post Bajaj breakup, this is usual Kawasaki scene . Spare parts prices were already high and they increased it even further. Meter now costs 53k compared to 39k earlier. Funny thing is, Ninja H2’s meter is just 3k more than Ninja 300 and 300’s is manufactured in India, while H2’s in Japan. The price they told for indicator is right, and the glass doesn’t come separate. It comes as a unit. Try ali express. Its a better and cheaper way for sure.

I wouldn't say there will be significant improvement but the engine will definitely get smoother. The main peak power kicks in post 8000rpm on the ninja. I guess after 1st or 2nd service you can try it out. Don't restrict your rpm to one level, you can go past 7k rpm but very very occasionally, but make sure you rev match all the gears.

Hey,
I have recently bought the N300 KRT edition - done just about 350 kms on it.
So it’s that sensitive, probationary break-in period, you see.
I have to concede that I am tempted to rev it up to 7k RPMs more often than not. I am nearing my 1-month 1st service period.

The question I wanna ask is:
Is there a significant performance improvement following the first service or the engine breaking in?

Hi Guys,

I bought a pre-worshiped N300 early this year and had it serviced at the Jayanagar center in Bangalore a couple of weeks back. During my initial inquiries at the service center before buying the bike, the service advisor had quoted about 4-5k for a general service with just the oil change. Though I found this to quite expensive, I accepted it as part of the drawbacks that come along with owning a superbike. A 300cc beast in this case.
Imagine my shock however, when I had the bike serviced and got the bill for ~6.5k when I went to take the bike back . Breakdown is as below:

1. Labour: Chain Lube, Consumables and General service (this would be washing, waxing and oil change) - 3,245
2. Spares: Filter oil + Engine Oil - 3,190

Is this for real?? When I asked the receptionist, she said this is the standard and the labour costs are much higher for other bikes. Now, I'm wondering how much do the owners of Ninja 1000 or ZX-10R shell out. 25k per service?

Ironically, my car has much lower maintenance costs with longer service intervals, being a Honda (about 4k for a general service). I know this comparison may not be valid but I'm just taken aback with the extremely high labour costs at Kawasaki. Just wanted your thoughts on this.


Also, need advice from the experienced folks on a different thing. The front indicator on the left side of the bike broke recently as someone rear-ended me at a traffic signal and my bike hit another bike in front of me. The indicator still works, however the glass casing is broken. When I checked with the service center folks for the part, they quoted approximately 4k for just the one side (not the set) and told me I'll have to take the entire indicator as just the glass casing would not be available anywhere. I have checked aliexpress for now and the complete indicator set costs about 2k (both left and right included). I couldn't find just the glass casing anywhere. Is there anything else that I could do here, before I go ahead and place the order on aliexpress?

Yes its on par with other service stations. I think there will still be some miscellaneous changes plus tax along with this 2k

On enquiring , the dealership said ₹2000 for labour! is that legitimate?

Its standard. They have changed their labour pricing from hourly charging. They now charge based on the work they do. Wierd thing is they charge for oil change and oil filter change separately and charges are still high. Do post updates after service.

my ninja300 is due for 1st service. is the labour charges showroom specific? or standard allover India by Kawasaki?

Got the rear brake pads replaced from Hybrid Tunerz which cost Rs.850/- whereas Kawasaki SVC quoted Rs.1700/-.

Thanks for the source pointer for the spares. I have clocked 18000 approx. and I might need to go for chain/sprocket and brake pads replacement soon..
Kawasaki SVC near wakdewadi is least bothered and always quote more than a month for every part (ofcourse with premium cost of being company provided parts)!!

I'm also surprised to hear about your experience with Motozone. My 'very limited' experience have been cordial so far with Vikram.

I do not think those are genuine facts , as long as you adhere to the recommended Ampere rating by Kawasaki, nothing would go wrong.

Yes, that was my original plan to go with Exide battery, however got worried after hearing that Exide batteries are not good for Kawasaki bikes.
And it can play havoc with Electrical system of bike, to the point of blown fuses and short-circuiting (not sure about the authenticity of these facts)..!!
Thats why I was trying to play safe in selection of the battery

Just the sprockets and chain were replaced, nothing else was required. Yes, I do have details, but dont think this incident with me warrants mentioning them. This was penned down just as a heads up to fellow riders who may have to deal with Motozone. I personally have moved on from this and happy.
