Re: Bullet Std 500cc - Oil levels
This depends on the particular bike and it's engine condition, even new bikes. That being said, this oil level top-up is usually done at a level above 2.6 l. Did they give any other reason, regarding this low level?Originally posted by sudpavan View PostHi All,
Recently my bullet 500 standard bs4 had its first servicing. The oil poured by the company service center is only 2.3lts.
However, to my knowledge it should be 2.75lts. I have argued with the showroom for the same and they said if anything more than 2.3lts is not advisable as company identified that oil seals are getting damaged fast.
Is that correct? the current oil level is less than the minimum point indicator and the light on the handle bar is always lit.
Please advice.
Thank you.

Re: Bullet Std 500cc - Oil levels
They are saying oil seals are getting spoiled very fast for the new bikes - that is why company told not to fill more than 2.3 ltrs - to me this is stupid looking.Originally posted by dylanizm View PostThis depends on the particular bike and it's engine condition, even new bikes. I do not think that is a valid enough reason. Let me check with my resources and confirm the same. Thanks.Originally posted by sudpavan View PostThey are saying oil seals are getting spoiled very fast for the new bikes - that is why company told not to fill more than 2.3 ltrs - to me this is stupid looking.

Thank you, will be waiting for your reply. At the same time I raised this with Enfiled customer care - they do not seem to be interested in their customers any more as sales are rocketing.Originally posted by dylanizm View PostI do not think that is a valid enough reason. Re: Bullet Std 500cc - Oil levels
My apologies regarding such a late response. As far as norms are concerned, oil top up is always set to 2.6 or 2.7. That is the common practice. Do you have any further insight in this time?Originally posted by sudpavan View PostThank you, will be waiting for your reply. Re: Bullet Std 500cc - Oil levels
In my recent servicing - they have filled it fully. So last time it must be lame excuse only. But the moot point is - the Enfield customer care service via email and call has not responded to my queries yet. Might be after 3-4 years when the crazy sales for enfield gets low then they will start hearing again I am really disappointed at them as there are still some pending issues like leg guard not replaced and so on.Originally posted by dylanizm View PostMy apologies regarding such a late response. Two weeks back - the accelerator cables got replaced it (twin cable) got spoiled and speed not crossing 40km and I am charged around Rs.350. for it; oil seals/gasket got replaced due to oil leaks - WELCOME TO THE NEW ROYAL ENFIELD CLUB. My bike is just 3000KM that too only driving in the city and only single person usage.
.
I was a long fan for it - but now I don't think I still have to be the same - may be will try Avenger next time instead of Thunderbird for my brother - planning to buy in next 1-2 months as a gift.

Royal Enfield 500 CC Standard Engine Noise
This is driving me crazy.
I have already checked Tappet adjustment, tightened cam pinions, changed engine oil (Motul 5100 15W50 Semi Synthetic) and oil filter. The noise is constant and only a bit lesser in early morning or cold start.
The local Royal Enfield mechanincs are saying that this noise is coming from the Cylinder Head and I have to replace it with a new one.I am very much confused. The spare part of Standard 500 costs Rs. 8626/- while for Classic 500 it is Rs.11,800/. Too costly affair.
A much cheaper option is resetting it through Lathe Machine. But rate of success of it in my locality is questionable.
The bike has run 24200 kms. Absolutely smooth, starts instantly.
I like to know is it really a health issue of the Cylinder Head or it's normal?

If am not wrong there is issue with piston. Am using a CI one i had a similar issue couple of weeks back upon checking it was found my engine got seized. I dont want to scare you but better check piston and bore.

This is normal bro, don't worry. These mechanics are scumbags. Don't open anything until its broken. Head assembly is good to go for decades. Ive similar instance's where i was totally frustrated with tappet noise in old ci bullet 1990. When consulted with a mechanic, he said my piston is gone. I was scared but then i thought better leave as it is. Till now i have been to manali, mussorie and kausali with a pillion, we both weigh more than 180kgs. No problems till now. So dont repair anything until its broken. And any issues with head or cylinder or any bearing. It will causw issues like smoke, oil consumption too much, little to no compression. Yours is okay..
Happy thumping.

Re: Enfield Bullet 500
Is there anyone who has bought the Bullet 500 over the past few months? I can't find any recent posts.
I am planning to buy one. Considering pillion comfort as well, else would have opted for the Himalayan. Any feedback from anyone?

Re: Enfield Bullet 500
I have the 2017 Bullet 500, I think the seats are the same as the current model. Good for short rides of upto 100km. Anything longer than that and you will feel uncomfortable and need to take breaks.
I don't use the stock seat anymore. Got a new single seat made by a local shop - super comfortable now.Originally posted by srs View PostIs there anyone who has bought the Bullet 500 over the past few months? I can't find any recent posts.

Sorry about the super late reply. I dropped all plans and forgot about the posts here :P
Anyway, I am waiting for the 2020 line up with the BSIV engines. The Meteor looks promising.
