Not too sure if this is the correct forum to start this thread. But as I could not get any relevant information with regards to the Bullet 500, I am starting this thread.
Please merge this thread with any available options.

From my school days, I have always liked and loved the Royal Enfields. Still remember the time, when our neighbourhood uncle used to come back from his office, and we used to know about his arrival much before we could see him. Yes, it was the thud, that gave him away. Back then, owning a Bullet meant many things, depending upon the perception. For someone , like my mom, it is the bike of the milkman. Yet, for others, it is the bike of the "policewala". Whatever be the choice and the image it had, Royal Enfield, is always Royal. The name itself has the royal-ness in it. Don't you agree? Offcourse owning one at that time was never possible as it was a strictly "no-no" motorcycle. Though much later I did come to know, that dad also likes the Bullets...

Fast forwarding to my college days. The dream of owning a Bullet was still there. But managing petrol bills from Pocket money and after having heard from various sources, of Bullet being a Fuel Guzzler; the intention still rested in dreams. Nevertheless, out here in the streets of Pune, whenever I have seen a RE moving by, Eyes would have definitely darted off the road just to catch a glimpse of the beast in motion.

A few months back I came to know that Bullet 500 is going to launch in India. The excitement again started. Though other options were already available from the RE stable, yet owning a 500 CC beast, in itself is commendable. Hence started the much awaited follow up in various portals, updates that are available from Google, referring to tBHP portal, for any new updates... Sooner (though at that time it seemed to be ages), the beast was launched in Delhi, Chandigarh and Chennai.

Convinced wifey to go for this (After all, home minister's approval is always required ) and finally made the booking at Brahma Motors on the month of June 2013. The most important news is that I just have received a call from the Brahma Motors, informing that the Bullet 500 is going to be launched in Pune on tomorrow, that is 30th August 2013.

After dreams and ages, I see my dream coming true. I would like to share the same experience with all of you. And therefore I am starting this thread. Please share you opinions about the Royal Enfield Bullet 500. I would keep this thread updated with regular updates as received (as the expectation has increased manifold)

    Best regards and safe driving.

Excited to the core of my senses I must say. Well to correct on records, it should have been 30th of August, 2013. Just a few hours more and off I shall be over to the store. Only wish is that the Rain Gods don't play spoilsport. (though it is clouded already)

                Re: Enfield Bullet 500

It was helluva experience. Convinced wifey to come along and she was more than happy to accompany. Reached showroom a bit late, though surprisingly the staff present at the reception recognised us. Might be because I have been regularly seeking updates from them since I made the advance booking on 14th May 2013. Anyways, we were greeted cheerfully and were introduced to the mammoth standing just in front of us. Just imagine, dream bike just in front of us. It was the Black with Silver stripes version in all glory. Took some photos and wanted to have a quick test ride. Enquired about the same and was informed that test rides will be available from tomorrow onwards. Great !!!

We were informed that there are two bikes in the showroom for the purpose of display and test ride respectively. When we enquired about the second one, we came to know that it is at the basement. Just as we were leaving the showroom, something prompted me to just have a look at the basement, and there he was. Standing in all his glory. Took some quick snapshots. The attendant came enquiring if I may be interested in a test ride. Just imagine!!! It is the thing I am looking for, my dear friend...

And what an experience I had. In the short 10 minutes run that I had, one thing was pretty clear. The beast has loads of torque in it. I mean, riding a 150CC Pulsar is no way comparable with riding a 500CC Bull. With just a twist of the accelerator, the sudden jolt was felt right there standing. The bike had not even started moving, but the impression was, "just let go off me". Though I did not dare go into some speed fun frolic, but the beast is smooth to ride. the 193kg Bull is easy to ride and quite well balanced around easy-cornering. The brakes are adequate and the seats did not feel too hard nor too soft.

One thing that I noticed was the thump. It was too pleasing to expect from a new 4 stroke Bullet. On further chit-chat I was informed by the attendant that the original silencer had been removed and the one that I am riding is the Short Bottle Silencer. This has been made just to ensure that the rider gets a good feeling while test riding. I noticed while riding that there were some short miss-fires. Not too sure if this is because of the silencer. The attendant could not say either. Experts please share your thoughts on this.

On road price in Pune is 157287.00
I plan to go for a two wheeler Loan. Might be from HDFC or SBI. Anyone from Pune, with any inputs regarding the same?

The Bull looks so macho like always. You said they had put the short bottle silencer, now RE does not make any silencer apart from stock one and up-swept one so was that an aftermarket silencer and did you feel the thump a little more prominent as Bullet 500 is 200 RPM less reviving engine that other 500 REs.

Well I was informed by the attendant that they have swapped the silencers to make the sound more prominent and that they have fitted the SB Silencer. The thump offcourse was more prominent than the RE 500 and 350s that I have seen plying the streets. The pickup, I felt, was a bit tuned to the higher end.

With regards to the switch quality, I will have to check again more closely, but first impression was not too bad. One thing that I observed is that the head light comes with a shade, and that the screw seats rights at the top. Does not look good at all . See picture below.

It is funny to know that we've been imitated and copied so well
and surprising when we notice our mistakes are copied as well.

Just had a word with Brahma Motors and were informed that the waiting period may be around 2 months. I enquired that do I need to wait that long as I have already booked months in advance. To that, the response was "we can get it early, but cannot promise anything now".

Yesterday they have confirmed me about the on road price. So today I was expecting the e-mail with the quotation. But I was informed that they are again looking at the price factor and will send me the quotation soon.

Can the Quotation change in one day? I do not think so ...
