  • The Roarer - RE Bullet Std 500

This is the first time I'm starting my ownership review, please help me with your suggestions.

    Background:

I'm a Bangalorean and a Banker by profession, who commute to office around 50kms daily in city to and fro. I had Pulsar 150 which was gifted by my parents in 2009 when I passed my 12th. I was very happy with its performance and niggle free experience. I used to service it in Bajaj ASC as per the company recommendation, hence for almost 7 years I didn't have any issues what so ever and it was a rock solid bike. I had done many trips and had lots of memories with my bike. Years passed and the biker in me wanted more powerful and a good highway cruiser for weekend rides and long trips.

    • Lowering Bullet 500

      Hi everyone,
I've wanted a bullet ever since I was a little kid. I booked my own standard 500 a few days back. I'll get it in a month. I want to lower it since I'm a bit on the shorter side. I can still ride it, but on my tip toes. I want to own the machine and not let the machine own me. And I'd much rather have both feet planted on the ground since the 500 is one of the heaviest bullets. How would I go about lowering it? I've asked around and most people told me to change the rims and tyres, cut the shock and change the seat. The sales rep at the showroom said a lot of people do it. Has anyone here done it? How would I do it? And can you recommend good workshops in Kochi that would do it?

After discussing with my friends about Himalayan issues, changed my booking to Bullet 500 Forest Green. It took just 10 days to get delivered.

        Best,
        Yash

        Congrats on your acquisition Yash

10 days!! I have been waiting on the same for more than 2 months (location - cochin)

IMHO lowering the bike from the wheels is a bad idea. The looks will certainly take a hit. Placing both the feet on ground isn't necessary all the time.
          Suggestion:
          1. Get the seats cut out by a pro and that should do good.
          2. Wear appropriate shoes if possible.

Here is a picture of my bull with seats cut as an illustration for you.

I would suggest to change the seat to a narrow one. It reduces the height considerably

                Is this Forest green?

BTW to all SB500 owners, i wanted to know if we can kickstart the sb500 when the battery is dead?
Since it doesnt require efic checks etc.

Yes it is forest green and you can kick start when battery is dead. But I have heard that the headlamp draws power directly from battery hence not sure whether the light will work

                    Mods, please confirm.

No sir, even the uce's don't start with a dead battery.

                        All,

Has anyone experienced any strange sound at times when you e-start the standard 500. I am hearing sounds similar to crackers when you start in morning. Pardon me, I know kick starting is good for battery, but it is really difficult. Hearing the same even after some runs (aka engine is hot)

Reported the same to authorized service center (nearing 3k) and as I was unable to show them this sound( tried twice thrice @ showroom but wasn't reproducible), told me that nothing can be done as they don't know where to look.

My local mechanic suggests it might be due to the starter motor.

Has anyone experienced or came over this issue? Any thoughts or inputs?

                        Looking forward to it.
                        Regards,
                        GinsB.

Are you talking about a crack (single kRRaaaK) sound and the engine shuts off??

                          I have same issue.

for me It usually happens when I try to open throttle on a cold engine.

                            Kind of..

When googled found this link - https://royalenfield.com/community/f...?topicid=27339

Last week I visited again the service center and they told me that it is because of praag or parag. I can't recollect the spelling. They say it happens when you accelerate more on starting and cant be rectified. Strange!!

                            Any meds?

                              Hi all,

One quick query to the enthusiasts here.

One of my best friend's has 3 month old Bullet 500 and he is looking at changing the exhaust. He has finalised on following 2 silencers.

Red Rooster Performance Exhaust - Matt Black | ModMyBike.in
                              And
Moto Torque Launcher Exhaust - Royal Enfield - Black Chrome | ModMyBike.in

Now the question, is the red rooster worth the premium it commands? Is it worth almost 3 times of mototorque when coming to performance. Please help.

                              • Re: Enfield Bullet 500

A muffler can not improve performance drastically, cause there must be cat con in bullet 500 also, likey classic 500 has. And to get proper performance output you also need to make the complete system free flow namely intake and exhaust.

In that case also there would be marginal performance improvements say 2-5% Max.

Mufflers normally available in the market with well known brands don't hinder the Gasses to pass through them. And the mufflers available are just for sound/thump. I also have moto torque shark installed a couple of weeks back, cause I like the sound of shark, my advise is to check the muffler you like most and go for it. Just make sure it's of a good brand that's it.
                                Regards
