Hello guys I was going through a Continental GT group page on Facebook. I came across an image posted by a member, wherein the LHS engine cover was cracked with the timing chain coming out. Guys do you have any idea why this happened and any precautionary measures which can be taken to avoid such an incident. Posting the images below.

Once sold, they are not bothered about it and customer care is nonexistent. Dealers are rogues and RE supports them rather than helping out the customer. Buying an RE despite an RE hater was the biggest mistake done so far. Parts pricing is more ridiculous. 9k for brake rotor, 2k for brake pads. Checked Himalayan's light for GT, was close to 3k. Himalayan handlebar 4k. 22-24k for GT tyres, which retails for 9-12k a pair outside. GT air filter close to 500 bucks, rest of whole RE range airfilter 170 bucks. Even the paid service costed more than what I usually pay for a 70k km run Estilo. Service interval shown in service booklet and the ones shown by dealer to extort customer are entirely different. Cost of ownership is even funny. Wrote a multipage mail to RE regarding whole experience with dealer. All they did was forwarded to dealer and closed the chapter. No followups or anything. Dealer was not even sorry for what they did.
The front brakes are brembos. They are far costlier than Bybers. Look them up. They are one of the best brake makers in the world. The Himalayan handlebar is approx 600 rs not 4000 as you mention. Many SVCs suck but not all. Most dealers if one treats them as humans they too reciprocate. One of my friend got his GTs rear shockups, Instument cluster and chasis replaced at an out of town dealer. He hadnt bought the bike from that city nor he belonged. He was on a ride. So things are not bad for everybody.
                  One life to ride....

I bought a used GT a month back, 2014 model 5500 km on odo, totally loving it. Before this had the new avenger 220 cruise model, very peaceful bike. I have a daily commute of 70kms both ways combined and the GT is a joy in traffic, it is so easy to manouver. Took it for a 6000km ride and man it was fun on highway. Just had One problem, beyond 80kms I found back tyre unstable on breaking and in turns, local mechanic greased the crank bush, bearings and its much better. Calculated average on highway was 32 kmpl, in city its around 23. I am not quite impressed with EFI for city use, especially after bike heats up it lags a bit when u are on higher gears, thinking of installing the bullet 500 carb, does anyone has any experience to share who is using a GT with carb, local mech is saying negligible difference in performance dip and better mileage.

                          Hi Guys,

Just an update and thought to share with all the Continental GT enthusiasts and potential future buyers.
I was ready to get my RE GT but, unfortunately the bike is no longer in production. Yes, I've got this official news from the brand store
in Bangalore as well as Chennai. Since, the GT 750 is gonna hit the stores by the first half of 2018 (GT 535 CC is no more).
                          Hope, this update is helpful.
