DETAILED REVIEW VIDEO after 7.5 years and 47K KM with my GS 150R

    Hi Guys!
I am planning to prepare an exhaustive review of GS 150R after 7.5 years and 47K KM of usage.
As you could see I have maintained it well for 7.5 years and will give tips and tricks for the same with idea on how to get the spare parts and service from SUZUKI India.

In the video we will also add a request for SUZUKI India to bring GS 150R back in new advanced avatar.

How many of you would like to view this video and would make a contribution to vote and request SUZUKI about GS 150R?

Please comment / like/ vote and show me your interest so that I could know whether to invest time for the same or not.

Clutch assembly from another used GS won't be reliable as it is a wear and tear part. May be can work out for him if he needs the work done urgently. Further he has to take a day off from work to go to Pudupet - if he takes his GS there - he has to park it at a safe place!

If its not there in SMK, others won't stock it. A month back, I went to ABT to get a new handlebar - I asked them for a pair of fork seals. They pleaded with me not to buy one as they have only one pair of fork seal in the store! It is disappointing, yes, one of those "I should have bought a Unicorn instead" moment.

Since you have waited this long, wait a little bit more and get the job done at SMK.

You are fortunate brother. SMK is ~100 kms (50 to + 50 fro) from my home.

How much on ODO? I can't digest that SVC doesn't have something as common as clutch plates. Which SVC? Did you try SMK at Porur?

As Octane_fx told, shooting a mail via Suzuki's website will expedite things - but before that try SMK, the best Suzuki SVC with respect to stocking/selling parts.

Recovering the IDV, at least, is simply not possible I guess.

Something like brake pedal or the LHS footpeg assembly may not be available and usually the stores will ask you if they can order it for you. Some SVCs will not sell even oil filters or bluntly say "they don't sell spares" though their name board will say "Authorized sales, spares and service".

It is a bit hard to find the spares in local two-wheeler spare shops - they say "this aint a moving model" and thats true. Add to the insult, GS is now discontinued though exports continue, I think.

GS is a gem of a bike and enjoys (ed) the hype here in the Ownership Thread. It has its own share of problems like early leaking rear shock absorbers, being too heavy (just look at the thickness of metal they have put in the fork "T" and engine!), early giving away of front wheel bearings, hard&notchy gearbox compared to the Hondas, corrosion, etc (as reported by various xbhpians).

Used vehicles, if not maintained well by the person selling; might burn your pocket initially to restore it. But due to the low resale value, a used GS that has very less kms on the odometer is a steal.

IMHO, get a currently popular (selling in good numbers and good reputation in xBhp) model for your dad. Gixxer has surpassed GS in many many ways and it would be my pick from Suzuki. Gixxer has everything (except the 6th gear) that GS has plus it is more practical and easier to live with than GS. Suzuki has recently started exporting made-in-India Gixxer to Japan!
The resale value when I sold out my GS is at between 18 to 25 thousands

I sold it out couple of yrs ago for 22 k

Sold out at almost One third of the purchased price which is really bad

Hi MSN1 (Madhu?), I see you are posting here after a very long time - I still go through the posts in the prior pages and cherish what you guys have written. My GS might meet the same fate. Congrats on the 500!

Are y'all been given and warranty or is this some stunt that Suzuki is pulling ?
Same price was quoted to me by my well known mechanic at Saboo Suzuki. So in terms of cost if you are getting Genuine SUZUKI's JAPANESE quality parts then it's worth every penny. Else if the parts are just like other brand spares to be used for ASS then it's quite costly.

When my GS clocked 42K few months back I had similar black smoke issue on revving the engine above 6K. Mechanics at Saboo Suzuki cleaned the carb and adjusted the same. It worked well for me
But looking at your figures I guess it may need engine work. Generally GS 150R engine life is 120,000 KMs- well the value is dependent on your road conditions and how you ride. I know one guy who is also customer of Saboo Suzuki (I saw him and his GS at Saboo Suzuki 1.5 years ago) clocking 120,000 KMs twice on his GS and he got his engine work done twice from SABOO Suzuki. He was very happy with the engine life and he was ready to clock 120,000 again. Well before you ask me he let me tell you that he used to ride from Hyderabad to Visakhapatnam twice in a month and that made him use his GS to it's limits!!!!
