hi everyone,
Was very busy with personal affairs ,so didn't get a chance to post here, did a few replacements on my gsr, will be posting them one by one. My LHS indicators started malfunctioning, even though i had cleaned and serviced them, on inspection found that the wires were hard and frayed .so decided to buy a new one. AS usual no stock, this is a 2010 model. the connectors on the newer model are different so take note before replacing. finally found 1 from a private dealer in trivandrum, Just note the manufacturing date on the label, lucky to have found it ,

Hi all,
Am new to this thread, using the forum to browse through favorite bikes and modes. Now coming to the point that happened to coming to this thread. My sister's husband had using this bike until 2019 something. He had some troubles because of his busy life he didn't looked properly and at the flood time in kochi he had no choice except to leave the bike the as there was no option than running with your life. The bike was all wet and meter console was gone, given to workshop and he done service it will run ok, nothing else work. It had some sound of piston and cylinder but he never looked for service as his thought was who is gonna spend more money on already 10 year old bike, then one day kicker was jammed ,already left without battery somehow managed to come home and the cylinder jammed. Then he got a bullet and this bike was lying there for 2 years with all rust and possible damage that can occur while in all rain and summer.
Earlier i was having Bajaj CT100 from 2016-2021 a family members bike, returned as it turned out to be some problems we had. I was fully satisfied with that bike, spending about 35K for various things and full retest.
After CT100 left me, i had no choice to buy a new one or used one. That time he told me try this bike if any juice had left to run, then going through forum i contacted RAIS@vypin and had some long talks and finally transported that bike here. Initially i was out of hope that most of the mechanics are afraid to touch and finally got a mechanic here and then came the challenge of out of stock parts. Then he serviced the machine in running condition as i noticed the piston sound , while checking the cylinder and piston have serious damage. replaced it completely along with timing chain. This started at last of feb2022. Then while disassembly i saw a lot of rust here and there , but no serious damage were seen in chassis, but not satisfied the vehicle was completely disassembled for painting. A lot of things where changed im really lost in tracking of this period. 1 week back it got delivered in all new showroom condition. Feels very good own this bike. Engine very smooth, almost zero vibrations i felt.
List of what was changed.
accelerator cable
clutch cable
chock cable
oil filter
oil 20-40 gulf
cylinder and piston complete set
packing
rocker arm and camshaft from old market
valve exhaust
full new sticker set

Plastic cowls bush and spacer set complete
flasher

diaphragm change
wiring settings
new nut bolts and washer
front indicator set
number plates
seat cover
front disc lever
S logo
Painting
Additional work done
handle bar cross bar for strength
back wheel hub given for lathe work because of loads of line where seen
Headlight and front mudguard frame broken reconditioned
welding in center stand as its support side was rusted
carburetor cleaning and setting and re tuning after 500kms
tank bend service
chain cleaning as the sprocket has still life left before changing to new one
gear small shafts lever has diagonal hole instead of circle so welded to fit
front brake air went was broken so services that too
while disassembly the headlight and its cowl screw where so tight so the locking broken so a nearby patch work done some jugad with metal mesh for fitting
now the back shock is damaged given for re conditioning, he said he'll thread the big cylinder and change stem as it has scratches and lock with a screw thread metal along with additional oil seal. Og suspension is too costly , when i go through the forum apache and phoenix matches but apache is hard and pheonix heght little high or spring is large that according to RAIS@vypin using , the back wheel down even in centre stand. so gonahead with recondition.
This is my 1st and lengthy post here. If any mistake kindly excuse. Will edit this post after suspension is serviced and anything additional had to add.
The total cost of vehicle including all service and painting costed me 40K. Still digiconsole is not there, need to service by self or buy used or new one(2-4k).and also after 1st oil change need to replace clutch set(1.8K). Will post the photos soon
And also one kind request if anyone is maintaining whatsapp or telegram group kindly post the link here or in pm. So we can get an active group and also help each others for knowledge and spares.Last edited by Arunraj01; 07-13-2022, 04:23 AM.

That's really sad but still I feel that Gs has the most comfortable riding posture amongst 150-160 CC bikes.

Mee too had to change the lock set. Luckily found it in nearby dealership. Though the ignition lock was only needed to be changed but since it was available as a set only, decided to change all locks.Originally posted by r0rshack View PostGrip is good. Had a ride to Kolli hills sometime after installing them and was able to ride with confidence.
Getting spare parts is getting tiresome now. My lock set had to be replaced and none of the service centers had a spare.

I have installed the same tyre. How is the grip and performance?Originally posted by r0rshack View PostAlso on a side note, recently changed my rear tyre back to 100/90 Apollo actigrip r4. This came after facing frequent loss of air from the Michelin sirac street which had run around 20k kms. The tread was good and excellent grip on the Michelin, but the loss in mileage has been immense and was getting around 30kmpl!.
Changed the tyre and the mileage is back to 40+.

Hi guys
Had to replace rear tyre quite early this time. Since I bought it online, I was sent a 2017 manufactured tyre in 2020. So it was already stored for 3 years. I am sure it was not stored properly. Tyre began to show dry rots too early and cracked in the tread area and also bulged at some places. There was uneven wear all round the circumference both sides. Like small bumps all over. So for the safety point of view I just changed it. It still had 70 % of tread left after clocking 21k. It would have easily lasted 50k kms if it hadn't gone this bad.
Replaced with the Apollo actigrip r4 100/90-18 tubeless. Costed me 1800/-. Hope it's good as there are no reviews available for this perticular tyre.Last edited by Murtaza; 05-12-2022, 08:49 PM.

I have switched my oil, from shell ax7 to this idemitsu 20w40, currently on 2 nd change , the bike feels slightly better. changed my sparkplugs after 30k kms, should have replaced earlier but didnt find a reason to. and lastly , found an alternative air filter, oil filters are available easily but air filter for gs is hard to come by. I have attached the brand label for all to see, the quality of the plastic is not upto suzukis standard but has an extra sponge underneath that helps it fit snugly into the air box. will update if any issues arise in the future, costs just rs200.

yes, it looks so, but im currently running 89700ish on odo and my workplace is less than a kilometre from my residence, average travel from residence to office including lunch would be 2 kms and the GS stands outdoors all the while. To and fro office i never reach evn the 6th gear!. Miss the early 100 km per day travel to office!Originally posted by Murtaza View Post
40+ is little less for GS if ridden under 4.5 k rpm. I am getting around 50 ish. 89k on odo. Rear is JK BLAZE BR32 tubeless.
But, even then, on highway i used to get 55 averages which dropped to 50 after the michelin tyres.
Im not sure if my riding style is bad.

Hi, Just replaced my front tyre, it had lost almost its front tread, the side walls had started to crack, i got more than 50000kms and 3years without a single puncture.i wanted to check CEAT tyres but the salesman highly recommended me JK bf34 , saying it has a thicker sidewall. I felt it to be slightly more heavier than the ceat so purchased it. My side stand was in very bad shape, due to the salty air and standing in floods during monsoons, visited the ASC to buy a new one but the price was Rs309/- , didnt find it appealing so rented a welding set for rs100 and attached a piece of scrap iron plate to the bottom, will see how long it lasts.

Hey thanks for the recommendation. I just measured the length of stock suspension and went for these one. Damping seems tobe okay but stock setup was more comfortable. Let's see how it fares in long term.Originally posted by r0rshack View PostMurtaza, Apache RTR shocks are a direct fit for GS150r. Been using it for around 30k kms.
thanks
