Just a small update out of the excitement [emoji4]. Got my 2009 GS serviced and got new seat cover. How does it look?
Damn, its 11th year of this bike and still feels and rides like just out of the showroom...so smooth [emoji7]

Hi, all. couldn’t find time to post, I recently shifted to a rented house which is pretty close to the sea, so rusting has become an issue, my side stand bottom had started to split , so i went to a welder and attached another piece. but this made the bike all the more unstable, it would topple suddenly and after 3 or 4 falls i am in need of a new handle bar as it has a bend now, As usual Suzuki ASC says it is out of stock, can you guys tell me if i can fit some other bikes handle bar?. Comfort is my prime need as I don’t want shoulder pain on long rides, attaching some images for all to see,

the new jugaad stand, following fotos you can see the amount of bend in my handle bar, so if you plan something like this do take measurements.

Initial batches came with 9AH, then the upgrade (v2) came with 7AH. I think 7AH is sufficient.

Battery for GS150 is 7AH, also mentioned in owner manual.

i have a suzuki gs 150r (2010 model)which i bought from a friend only for long rides.
now for past 2 months i have not used the bike and it needs serious maintenance
so the handle bar is bent,chain touches the chain cover its that lose so this needs replacement as well,
clutch plate is gone, rear suspension also needs replacement.
in my area suzuki service centre does not have any parts except oil and oil filter.
where can i get all these original parts from
the bike has done 64000 km.
will post some pics.

I am looking for right side pillion footrest but unable to find any since last two months. I need only the metal part -as it got a bend in a small accident - rubber is intact just the joint of foot paddle is bent from its metallic limiter -holding point.

Can anyone help me, please?

I talked to the mechanic, the cleaned part was the speedo sensor, the gear sensor is located below, which i cleaned with kerosene. how the speedo caused a gear sensor issue is beyond my thinking.

hi again,
so after a day ,had this issue, i had it earlier but i thought it might clear by itself or the mechanic may clear it after chain replacement, the gear indicator would go blank in lower gears not always but sometimes, i didnt mention this to mechanic, but thought if he is a reputed mechanic then he might find it by himself, unfortunately it didnt happen, thats why it is so important that we users try to learn atleast the basic in vehicle maintenance and repair,
I opened the front sprocket cover and found some plastic debris inside, replacing a chain requires removing this but most mechanics dont care to clean it, next removed the gear sensor and lo, there it was a piece of plastic cover or something stuck right over the sensor, used some kerosene and sharp tools to remove and clean the area, alls well now, in hindsight i am partly responsible for it ,since the older chain was hitting the lower chain case i had removed it,and that might have sucked something into the sprocket and lodged over the sensor, so always use the cover,

completed my first oil change at 500k.m, rode another 1300k.m before 2nd oil change, had a little bit of more work to do , didnt complete during the earlier service as short of money and lack of spares , first of all oiland oil filter change done, the first oil was 20w40 power oil from the mechanics own garage, (he has an entire barrel of it, charges 300 for it ,makes a profit from it as well), the second one was servo 20w40 from indian oil, cost just 220/- ,quality was much lower as straight i could feel the roughness took some time and km to regain the earlier smoothness.the 3rd change was again poweroil ,as i decided it would be better to switch to semi synthetic after 5000 or so kms. attaching photos of replaced parts.

second replaced my chain kit, which was DID make, I wanted to stretch a little bit more but the mechanic advised against it, I had completed around 24500kms on it,
this time I decided to buy an indian brand, after lot of searching found this one from TIDC, make diamond k107, this one has 41teeth in rear sprocket same as the stock DID, the earlier one from ROLON had 42 rear teeth,costed me Rs930/, the DID was quoted much higher at Suzuki ASC, there are differences though, the DID weighs 1.7kgs while the diamond is around 2.10kgs, the diamond rear sprocket looks cheap ,you can see pits and rough spots (clearly a metallurgy manufacturing issue). the DID rear sprocket on the other hand is grooved and smooth , photos attached. the next thing is chain thickness, the diamond has thicker rollers and plates, just need to see how long they last.the reverse side of the front sprocket has scratches, that certainly is nitpicking, but i wish indian manufacturers could set high standards as foreign ones,
can anyone tell what does those words mean printed on th echain package,{fine blank GB sprocket, shotblast rear sprocket}

Third replaced my steering cone set as i had caused it to rust by using WD40, DOnt use it on greased parts, fourth - replaced my ignition lock as it had come loose, the key would fall away while riding ,searched every ASC around here but they provide the entire set with fuel tank lock for around 1400/ , later contacted the guy from trivandrum whom i mentioned earlier and he couriered just the ignition set for around 650/-.replaced the fuel hose as it had hardened with that of royal enfield, added a fuel filter as well,

Hello guys, ashwanth.r, what I know about GS in Latin America is that the motorcycle was basically not a hit in most of the countries, being Colombia the country where it probably was better accepted. They even had a follow-up 2017 model, as far as I can remember, with some interesting aluminum tank guards. But even Gixxer and Intruder are not incredibly popular in Mexico as was the case with Yamaha FZ16 or even Honda Invicta (Trigger, I believe, in India).

But putting all that info aside, the Mexican market is usually a frivolous one, with some owners (there should be UNDER 300 GS150r's that were sold in the entire Valle de Mexico) keeping them in storage with, say, 3 or 5k kilometers on odo... probably only because the bike is NOT as fast or sporty as it looks. But a lot of GS's were indeed sold with the wrong spark plug, which caused a serious missing problem at higher revs.

Nevertheless, I am still using my candy red one--and with great satisfaction each day!--with roughly 11k kilometers on odo. Zero issues whatsoever, other than the seat's leather getting a bit old. The bike was originally bought in 2014, so that's not a surprise at all. Running on 10% ethanol for the past 2500 kms with zero problems. A story for a different time, maybe.

I hope I was able to complement the above coment by our friend ashwanth.r, and to somehow answer the question posted previously!

There is a post somewhere here on xbhp mentioning the upgrades GS150r should have to receive in a future iteration (not happening in this life, if you ask me) which included:

*Rear disc brake
*Fuel injection
*Improved tyres
*More power (with extra 50cc capacity)
*Better/sportier looks

But I find that for a reasonable use, and I ride my GS a bit fast basically every day, the bike is a great choice even after 10 years of first release in India. Great quality (and it shows), nice looks, distinctive engine sound, 6th gear, super comfort, etc, etc. for the money you pay.

Someone was asking about a good replacement for GS. I would say Inazuma, if paying more $$ for everything is not an issue. Yes, there should be other good choices, even the new D400, CBR250R, Versys 300, etc., but who wants to pay A LOT more for a good motorcycle?

That yellow Ducati should cost about 8 times the money I paid for my red GS. A silly example, but you get the point.

No never needed to look at any other bike in these years. Gs served me quite well. Demands quite low on maintanence and fuel consumption. No tips and tricks buddy apart from regular maintenance. Just keep check on oil, airfilter, spark plug and optimum tyre pressure and you are good to go. Had encountered couple of compression loss but i guess it was due to the carbon built up. Nothing wrong with the bore piston. Wish to clock at least 100k kms on Gs
Fork sleeves were torn apart so removed them. I don't have much issue with stock mirrors though one of them is of Splendor.
Stock size tyres front sirac street and rear ceat zoom. [emoji3]

So you mean to say you havent looked at any other bike for the last ten years, thats highly praiseworthy, so any tips and tricks you would like to share, you dont seem to have fork boots, have you ever serviced your forks, the original Rear view mirrors have a small field of view, I changed mine with the Apaches and the difference is huge, what tyes are you on at present, and the mileage.
