    Appreciate the response.

    - This won't be altering steering geometry, just adding a little height.Might just loose the original riding characteristics.

Changing to Xtreme vision 55W might give you a marginal improvement. But since the fault is with design of the stock reflectors, not much can be done in that regard.
    - Agreed but even a little margin is a relief in current situation.

This is surprising, you mean to say you want to increase the seat cushioning or modify the seat itself? BTW replacement seat can be purchased for about 850 Rs.
    - I had added .5 inches cushioning already but the butt still gives up after a 150-200KMs, on top of that cats have ruined the seat completely. Its not about cushioning but the design I'd want to modify for good.

I have used LED pilot lamps in the past and shifted back to stock as it led to a blown fuse once, and overall I did not like the White LED pilot lamps
    - Not talking about pilot lamps, but external spot lamps.

Did you ensure the brakes were bled with fresh brake fluid? since it is a hygroscopic fluid and tends to absorb moisture from air causing it to lose efficiency. This may lead to additional free play similar to what you are mentioning.
    - Was done in front of me, fresh new fluid. If there's air in the line, usually a few quick pumps would fix it temporarily but here its not the case anymore as well.

I have installed full length adjustable Moxi levers on mine, and can tell you that they will not give you lot more scope of bringing the lever closer but increasing the distance away from the handle-bars will not be a problem. I am using it on adjustment notch-2 which I find to be comfortable
    - I'll see how much this helps, I got full length ones though.

      Hi Guys,

Any of you aware of a price reduction for the R15S? Bajaj has reduced upto 4.5k for their bikes in view of GST implementation. Any news from Yamaha?

Offtopic: The one drawback of R15S, in my opinion, is the short service interval of 70 days. My question is, once the warranty period is over, can we extend this service interval or still stick to 70 days? Any thoughts from long owners?

      Thanks and happy shifting!

No idea or news on the price reduction of R15S as of now.

Regarding service interval after 1 year, stick to 3K KMs rather than days. The FS Yamalube engine oil runs great for 3 to 4K easily under usual circumstances, you just need to take care for chain cleaning and lubing.

Other than that air filter replacement and coolant top up needs to be done as per manual.

I've just completed one year and that's what I'll be doing, as I did with my last Yamaha.

        Regards.

          I'm confused between RS 200 and R15s .
I travel to work daily in highway for 45KM.
My requirements are comfortable ride , cruising speed of 80 to 90 KMPH, reliable engine, mileage of around 40kmpl since I commute daily
          Please suggest. Thank you

            What happened to your Gixxer?

Anyways, RS200 has a more upright seating posture. R15S is still quite sporty in this regard.
Both bikes have reliable engines, and both can easily cruise at 80-90kmph.

R15S should give around 45kmpl at those speeds and RS200 should give around 37-40kmpl or even more with light throttle input.

Test ride them both and see which you like more.

I assume, you want to move to the faired bike.

For your requirement both the bikes are good enough.

If you choose R15 you will have better handling, mileage and better quality & refinement.
If you choose RS200, you will have more power and better comfort. If you intend to keep at more than 100kmph , then RS200 is better.

TD both and see if you can adjust with the seating posture of R15, then it will give you more than what you expect.

Thanks you. Well I have done 28K KM on gixxer till now and the engine has developed harshness to it. Can't push it around like before and lack of 6th gear is evident since I ride in highway. Bike is solidly built, though engine is a let down in long term. Hence want to move to reliable engine with highway ridability.

Thanks for your opinion. I'm biased towards r15s more than RS200 as it has tried and tested engine and better build quality with good pillion seat. What will be the service cost? And i have seen in videos that r15 spares made in Indonesia are expensive and showroom has only these spares. Is it right? Also what's the service interval and average service cost of r15s?

Basic Chain Cleaning as performed on R15s:

Step 1: Lift the rear wheel of the ground using temporary center stand/paddock stand. (If you don't have either of these then it is advisable to have someone help you rotate the wheel while lifting the rear slightly)

Step 2: Get a piece of cardboard about 1x1 foot size and slide it between the chain and rear tyre/rim. This will protect the rim and tire from being directly sprayed with lubricant. This can get especially dangerous if you manage to get some lube on the rear disc brake.

Step 3: Use diesel or chain cleaner spray to loosen the grime & dirt stuck on the chain, then use a old toothbrush or grunge brush to clean all the chain links and rear sprocket. Rotate the chain as you clean to cover the whole set. (Bonus points if you can remove the front sprocket cover and clean the grime near drive shaft)

Step 4: Use a piece of rag to wipe down the chain and absorb all the excess run diesel/cleaner. (Caution: Never do this while the engine is running, there is a great risk of catching your finger/arm between the chain and sprocket. I almost had a disaster once, but narrowly missed it)

Step 5: Let the chain dry out for 15-20 mins. Now use lube spray on the cleaned chain enough to cover the chain but not smothering it.

Step 6: Let the freshly lubed chain sit for a few hours before taking it on a ride. This lets O-rings absorb the lubricant and helps achieve desired effect.

Most performance bikes nowadays have open/exposed chains. These chains tend to get dirty and quite quickly too!

In most cases, a regular wipe down with a moist rag + fresh lubing every 500 KMs is sufficent. (More often in monsoon)

Occasionally a deep clean of the drive chain is necessary, So you can follow that regime ideally every 1500-2000 KMs or if you are really stretching it then at every service (3K KMs)

BTW You will need an 8 mm T-spanner to open the two bolts holding the front sprocket cover. Hardly costs anything!

AFAIK, R15 is manufactured in India and so are the spares.

                              Regarding service:

Service interval is too short 70days/3000kms. But once free service is over you can stretch a bit and go by KM instead of months.

                                Hello Riders,

I'm new here and I'm about to get my first bike soon.

After a long analysis, I decided to get Yamaha R15 S.

Now, there is a confusion in deciding colors.

Now, I love the SPECIAL EDITION COLORS of V2 (Grey-dark orange, Grey-green and white) more than original R15S color options.

If I buy R15S, can I repaint the bike to the color as that of V2 Special edition?

If yes, please let me know the procedure and RTO works.

Please see the attached image. Can I make the headlamp assembly as this (at Chennai) ?

Also, can I change the switch gear as that of old ones (with Headlamp switches)? Is that legal and will it be under warranty?
