That's a tale that took a turn for good. I am glad you were able to at least hold them by their neck and get it sorted. Do let us know what was replaced and the overall feedback. It's lovely to at least know that the top brass was able to address your query in a polite way and make sure your issue was getting addressed. We can appreciate Yamaha on this gesture. Being a CEO, they can "junk" your mail in a millisecond as if nothing happened, but they made sure they take heed to address the issue, which should definitely be appreciated.

The CEO/MD Yamaha India Corp personally called me and sent his message to the local Authorized Seervice Center from where I received an apology yesternight . They came today morning and collected my vehicle from my Garage and have taken to the service center. They would get the entire set replaced FOC and deliver the vehicle to my home by today evening.

I am havinfg 17 years of Corporate experience and i think I am well connected and can solve these issues at this level.The SC guys who did this would be looked into for misguiding Customer and estimating the budget to Rs.11k for caliper change and fork change.

Thats how you deal service center guys in INDIA.

No point messaging the CEO of Yamaha. It's just asking too much. A CEO's work is completely independent from that of R&D Department and what not, though he oversees the health and well being of his company. I understand your frustration regarding parts not being available. But, you have to keep one thing in mind, not all parts will be available as a single entity. Some parts come as a whole or as a set, even though the part you might be wanting is as insignificant as a special pin or a special nut, as an example.

One thing I do agree with is poor training from the SVC part to the service personnel. Not all the service men are skilled in picking the finer details in a given training and what not, and implement it in the real word, which, well, is a story for another day.

Can you post a picture of the U clamp that you made yourself?

I HAVE CUT A TIN PLATE FROM THE ASIAN PAINTS LID and gave it a U Shape and placed it for Caliper holder with Fevikwik which reduced the NOISE by 50%. Then again I opeded the Brake Pads.and created metal jackets with same TIN Lid IN ALMOST Same shape of the Brake Pad.I have attached such 2 tin plate brake shoe covers. I fit them on the bike and tried braking at a speed of 90plus.

The brakes are awesome and working with 100% precision. The sound is 0. and the wheel is fantastically smooth like a new one.

Unfortunately the YAMAHA SERVICE GUYS dont know our bikes have these 3 parts so does the YAMAHA SERVICE CENTER. I have reached the CEO, YAMAHA MOTORS for this and even he is unaware of such parts where the YAMAHA WEBSITE shows properly in their brake component diagram that these 3 things exist.

LONG LIVE YAMAHA where SC guys are so poorly educated and the SC guys are unaware. We are at the peril of YAMAHA for believing in people who dont know bikes.

I don't exactly remember who it was, but someone from the ZMA thread was using an old ATM card cut to shape.

It just seemed like too much work at the time, so I didn't take that route.

Indeed Ashwin. I am surprised, I haven't seen these shims on my R15S either both front and rear. They were stock pads and replaced along with the tires a couple of months back, and surprised to see, quite some glaring differences between the R15s, though the calipers remain the same. Personally haven't felt any problem whatsoever with the braking, screeches or squealing even after going under a foot of water, and muck, sand and what not.

I also did come across, some R15's having rear brake caliper covers, like the ones on the Apache. Just makes one go bonkers! And I don't have any of those, no caliper covers, no shims. Dayum Yamaha!

Time to hunt or steal the shims I guess.

In car spares its called Brake Shim and they also come with an extended leg to clearly indicate wear, but I distinctly recall them being referred to Screech Plates when I had posted a query regarding the same a few years ago in the ZMA thread as I had the same doubt.

Only the Nissin kit on the ZMA came with them installed from factory, the Pulsar etc were missing these from factory. I've run my ZMA without them and didn't notice anything different, at the SVC they simply discard it as on a worn out pad they're nearly unnoticeable due to muck and brake dust.

@ashwinprakas, I was confused for a while, what were screech plates. These are not screech plates, or as they are more aptly called as brake shims. These basically reduce pad judder due to accumulated brake dust and helps provide a tight fit for the brake pads which in turn helps them stay in place when brakes are applied and don't move in the direction of the wheel and cause one sided pad wear. Also similar to your point, it does reduce squeaks since it helps reduce pad movement.

@sunnylovesalman, apart from the jugaad brake pad shim that you've replaced, I'd like to know more about the other modification you did to the caliper holder, as I couldn't see the job carried in the second picture. The reason your brake noise is reduced is because the shims have provided for a more tighter fit of the pads inside the caliper, and in the process makes the movement of the pad less due to the wheel motion when brake is applied. This is what causes irritating squeals, along with a crappy worn out brake pad.

On my R15s, I've changed both my front and rear tires, a couple of months back, along with brake pads and fluid. When it comes to replacing, brake pads, fluid, brake lines, I always prefer doing it myself, and so far I haven't lost anything in the process per se or nothing unduly did fall or did I miss anything, but since you did bring this point up, it piques me as to why my R15s didn't have these shims.

As shown in Yellow and Red, I have attached a JUGAAD plate scissor cut behind brake pads.
Second Pic shows clearly the small clamp to hold the Caliper is missing . I need these.

I wud post a pic today.But thats a part of the 3 things missing.The small bracket hokding the caliper is also vital as i have done 3 jugaad to completely close the noise but its temporary.

I have cut a iron sheet and fit with fevikwik as a bracket to the caliper holder.Then i have cut the same lid plate as brake pad cover and attached them to the brake pad with fevikwik.now fit the brake pads.the brake pads are close to new and doesnt need replacement.its just that the screetch plates and the holding bracket was the culprit.

There is 0 sound from the rear brake now and my bike holds the brake at a speed of 90+ speed with honey smoothness.

PS: if you own a r15s and ever try for a tyre change be very careful u dont drop these 3 things by the mechanic.you wud get noise upto a level of 70 db from rear wheel anf with these ur bike wud run like honey.

Shall post a pic as soon as i open my garage today.

I think you're referring to the metal plate that is on the back of the brake pad, an add-on cover to the rear brake pads? If that's lost then you're a goner, it won't be available. You have to look at another R15 V2.0's used rear brake pad, and take the cover from it. That cover won't be available as a separate accessory. They come as stock on the factory brake pads, and they also are present in replacement Yamaha brake pads. Surprisingly my R15S' pads don't have such additional plate.

My R15S' stock, caliper came with Nissin pads both front and rear and without these plates from the factory, and since I replaced them recently and bled the brakes, the pad was pretty much simple without these add on plates. From what I reckon, these plates help prevent corrosion of the brake pad backing plate and helps prevent brake pad grabbing.

I haven't found any problem whatsoever, squeals, squeaks, nada. Sharp as ever. Cost cutting by Yamaha, I reckon it can be. But, now I am thinking to get these too. Thank you for bringing this up. I did confuse myself with the pad springs, which is the exact reason why I asked you for a picture of the same.

My first guess was right then.

The part shown in the picture is the screech plate, its only purpose is to screech when the pad reaches its service limit, other than that it serves no purpose.

I'd suggest you look elsewhere.

I'd faced a similar issue with sourcing the Screech plate for my ZMA, as the part was not available at the ASC and it wasn't even marked with a part number in the parts catalog. Though my motorcycle ran just fine without it as I monitor brake pad wear by keeping an eye on the brake fluid level.

I am referring to this Brake pad Cover . That comes with YAMAHA R15. This is not available with new brake pads. And if somehow this is misplaced then the amount of sound the bike makes from rear caliper is just sure to blow away minds. Its so irritating and loud of a metal on metal sound.

That's the spring plate, you can get it as part of the Major Overhaul Kit provided Yamaha provides the same, it used to be available as such with Major Caliper Overhaul Kits available at Bajaj Spares.

I'd suggest you post a picture of it from your actual bike, circled in red and in clear. Then we'll see, if that part will be available individually or not.
