    You don't need a saree-guard/saddle stay on the CT100B, though due to lack of rear end width my ViaTerra Claw does slide a bit to either side and does require frequent fidgeting, but once reinforced with a spider bungee chord it stayed put.

    Rather than a saddle-bag a 35L+ tank bag would be more ideal. More weight towards the front and a magnetic tank bag stays put even when offroading.

    The problem with hauling load at the rear on the CT100B is that when you ride over an obstacle at speed the front end seems to go a tad higher than you'd expect it to.

    Regarding spares: I think I need not worry much about them then. I'll go really minimalistic.
    That would do, but do carry the Auto/Vespa clutch cable inner and lock, costs 30/- and would save you a lot of trouble in the event something goes wrong. Insisting as I've had to ride about 300 km's without disengaging the clutch due to the cable snapping on my brand new P220, Murphy does have a way of screwing you when you least expect it.

    My luggage would carry mainly clothes and toiletries, weight should top at 5 kgs max. So do you think I would be able to cruise at 80 on MP roads? I would be greatful (alia Bhatt joke attempt) if you could share your experiences of MP roads and traffic. Thanks.
    Unfortunately I've not touched MP, have only gone around it. But if the roads are anything like those from its neighbors then all is well, at the time of riding the GQ I was about 135+ kg and did haul considerable luggage, even then 80kmph+ was easily manageable with the exception of when riding in AP due to very strong cross-winds, where I'd dropped speed to 70kmph out of safety concerns.

            So, the reason of my CT100B's hiccups problem was this:

            It was the CDI which was faulty. I replaced it 4 days ago and not single hiccup since then. I don't even need a choke from a cold start. It just starts in the first kick. CDI costs 415/- + 50/- the guy took for opening the seat. I did not have Allen key to open the seat. ASC guys charge 150/- as labor charge, so I used went to a local mechanic outside instead. How to open the seat:

            1) 2 Allen nuts/bolts on both sides
            2) You have to remove the battery cover and the opposite side Air-Filter cover to access those bolts.

            This time I serviced it outside, used 10W30 Castrol engine oil. Desi mechanic is an honest guy and he lubed my chain with used engine oil . I came home and cleaned it out with diesel again and used gear oil to lubricate. Bike feels and runs like new now

            • Re: Bajaj CT100B

              Hey guys!

              I know its been a while, after the last ride I had taken the CT100B on a few spirited off-road trails and as a result something felt amiss, I was under the assumption that the handlebar might've got bent under the force of hard landings and decided to change them and opted for the ones from the TVS XL as the switchgear holes were perfectly aligned.

              But they were a bit taller than I'd hoped and I ended up with a desi ape-hangar setup(can be seen in the below picture behind the P220), it was fun for a bit but I switched to the P220 for a bit as she'd be completing her 5th year of ownership and she had quite a bit to go before crossing 50k on the odo, I have a mental block where if I don't cover at least 10k km's per year on every motorcycle I own I'd start loosing it!

              Anyhow had some fun with the P220 and also did manage to go on a weekend interstate run;

              All in all, I was happy but yet something was amiss, hence the lackluster smile!

              So the previous weekend I decided to have a closer look at the CT100B, so had the handlebar and holders off the motorcycle and that is when I'd noticed that during the hard landing I'd managed to disintegrate what was left of the already abused cushions, such that even the supporting metal shims were bent.

              The design is such that the handlebar holders do not have direct contact with the T Plate, they sit into the rubber cushions that are fixed on the T Plate. With the cushions disintegrated and it being a Sunday I had no choice but to come up with a Jugaad, so after sourcing a few metal shims from the nearby store this is what I ended up with.

              Without the cushions the handlebar would tend to be vibey at interstate speeds so I decided to steal the bar ends from my P220 and used it along with a spare brand new Discover 150F handlebar I had laying around for quite some time now and this was the result;

              There is a slight misalignment with respect to lever height as I managed to screw up when it came to drilling guide holes for the switch gear, and since on my variant of the CT100B the switchgear and lever yokes are a single piece you'd notice the ever so slight variation if you're looking for faults while riding the motorcycle.

              Since I'd returned to Trivandrum after the weekend I'd noticed that it was time to change the oil, so went with Shell Rimula R4 a second time;

              Even though a HDEO this oil has been working wonders on both the P220 and CT100B, though for the sake of principle I'd suggest everyone else stick to their respective Owners Manual's.

              Also I'd changed my regular drain interval from 2k to 1.5k km's and I'm planning to stick to it as the frequency of riding has gone down quite a bit recently, plus Rimula is cheap and I'm a fan of more frequent oil changes.

              And I wasn't kidding about the low riding, as in the first year of ownership I clocked 20k km's where as now shes past her second birthday and clocked only another 12k km's so far.

              Conditions are not favorable but if all goes well I hope to outrun the P220's odo figure!

              Cheers,
              A.P.

                  No sign of slip on either motorcycles, both are running on factory clutch, one is at 45k and the other is at 35k.

                  Life is short, I don't even wash my motorcycles lest be bothered about aesthetics.

                    That's really surprising. Got a real bad time when I tried experimenting with engine oils. Now I think ten times before trying out a new brand/grade oil in my bike.

                    And guys, could you please share your max average mileage figures at economy speeds? My experience of the kawasaki derived 100cc mill is with my father's old CT100 which we had for a very brief time and a friends platina during college days. Both were 2006/BS2 make with EXHAUSTEC written on the engine cover.

                    Now both the above mentioned CT100 and platina gave 85-90kmpl consistently in eco-speeds and around 70kmpl while spirited riding. I heard that the BS3 CT100/CT100B are lower on fuel efficiency. Is it true or just a rumour?

                      So it was time for the 2019 xBhp ISG2G and I was planning to ride on my CT100B but the day before the ride I noticed that the holder part of the clutch cam rod had partially snapped.

                      And unlike the P220 on the CT100B the holder being welded to the rod meant that I'd have to open the clutch cover to replace it.

                      Due to unavailability of parts I had to settle with the P220.

                      After the ride managed to fix my CT100B;

                      A point I'd like to make is that the advantage of following strict oil replacement cycles is that even on high mileage vehicles your internals remain spotlessly clean.

                      The CT100B with close to 35k on the odo and having been ridden around the country;

                      Spare availability was decent, on the CT100B we had replaced all seals on the clutch cover i.e Kicker and Clutch Rod. The careless guy at Sarathy Bajaj managed to give us the wrong spares and we ended up buying the complete seal kit for less than a hundred bucks from a local store, the manufacturer of the seal was same though, some Indian subsidiary of Mitsubishi.

                      Cheers,

                        Overgeared the motorcycle using a 15T front sprocket from the XCD 125's kit, for fellow CT100B owner's the Gen 1 Platina 125's chain and sprocket kit is a direct match, the XCD125's comes with a lot more extra links, but since the Platina 125's kit was out of stock I had to go with this, 15T 420Pitch 17mm shaft dia front sprockets are near impossible to source individually, though stock 14T is easily available at Rs.75 a pop, speaking of which the chain kit from Rolon costs Rs.750/-:

                        Since the current set is about 15k km's old I only bothered to change the front sprocket and keep the rest for a rainy day.

                        Not the recommended means to get the job done as ideally the whole kit should be changed, but I couldn't care less at this point.

                        Have ridden here for a km or two at best in my locality due to Covid restrictions.

                        First thing to notice was that the 1st gear is more usable compared to it earlier acting like a Crawler/Hanuman Gear, and I didn't get the usual jhatka when launching the motorcycle, this did cause some unrest so I did launch in 2nd gear and she pulled without much hesitation, tried going up an incline launching in 2nd gear and still no issues, that is reassuring.

                        Next thing was that at about 60kmph when I thought I was in 4th gear, I was actually only in 3rd gear. And at 60kmph in 4th gear the engine purrs at a very low RPM, can't give exact difference cause the motorcycle lacks a tachometer, but the difference was quite noticeable.

                        The 4th gear has now become a proper overdrive, before she used to scream to 80kmph in 3rd gear and that is as far as the cam would permit the engine to rev, would love to rip her on the highways and see how far she pulls in 3rd gear.

                        Due to drastically reducing final drive from a rounded 3.00 to 2.8 on this tiny motor I am skeptical so unless I equally hit the trails and highways I would suggest everyone keep their reservations.

                        Now credits to my previous stock 14T sprocket for crapping out on me;

                        This is also a reminder why you should use quality fixtures, the ones that snapped were from an unknown brand I got locally at TVM. For Fixtures my preferred brand is TVS, quality is simply unmatched and fortunately we have a supplier at Kollam who was also open today.

                        P.S. Do not use front sprocket from the Pulsar 150 UG3 or Unicorn, though they're 15T and 420Pitch and easily available, the shaft dia is 20mm and doesn't fit the CT100B which has a 17mm dia shaft.

                        Here's a Unicorn front sprocket I got:

                        As you can see its 20mm and hence not a fit.

                        So that's all for now folks!
                        Cheers,

I will surely going to put the same chain set very soon, though I replaced one few kms back only, but this is the fun with this bike, this set is so cheap . BTW did you purchase it online or from a local shop? Please share the link if it was bought online. Thanks to you for doing all the experiments and letting us know what fits best, hahaha it helps alot. Thanks buddy.

                            Purchased from a local shop, online stores are non functional due to the lock down.

                            Just go to any shop and buy Platina 125 DTS-Si Kit, it comes in 15T Front-42T Rear-114 Links Configuration and is a direct replacement.
