Don't try to overload the bike in such situation. it will cause more damage to other critical parts. Happy DIY'ing.

All signs suggest some issue with Timing chain and valves. What do you think? Either the chain is not opening the valves correctly or valves have some sort of leaks. Timing chain could have gone lose and maybe that's causing the misfiring, because the length of the chain is different from stock and this creates a situation wherein the valves timing gets disturbed.Originally posted by ashwinprakas View Post

Pressure wash was done with everything in place, the stripped picture was taken when I had removed the tank to drain it as I suspected water inside tank.Motorcycling Experience:

Changed the following;
- Spark Plug.
- Front and Rear brake shoes.
- Clutch cable(Boxer).
- Front brake cable(New CT100B uses a longer cable than the old CT100, hence after trying out a lot of cables I settled with a non-OEM(Silco Cables) option for New Platina ES)
Replacing the SP didn't resolve yesterdays turmoil, which on further diagnosing was due to the stator connector shorting due to water getting trapped inside the connector. Had bought some lithium based bearing grease for the drum studs and axle greasing, which I profusely applied on the connector in question and the CDI and RR unit connectors to prevent similar instances from reoccurring.
Have also managed to relocate the stator connector to sit under the tank rather than hang next the the battery compartment, will see after the next pressure wash if any of the effort put in would bear fruit.
Also do be careful while sourcing cables as some of the old CT100 cables don't work with the CT100B, here are pics of my stock clutch and front brake cable for reference.

Having not so good experience with the above cables I didn't bother to touch the throttle cable.
Was a tad exhausted after the running around and labor so left oil change for tomorrow, bought a bottle of Castrol Power 1 20W50, just to see if Castrol is as bad as people claim it to be.Motorcycling Experience:

Unmount the carburettor, remove the throttle slide, check the position of the throttle needle lock. 3rd slot from the top. (Unmounting is just to help you clean the float chamber and the carb in general, & is not necessary just to check throttle needle lock position)
Don't touch any of the other settings, unless needed as described later.
Even if the sputtering reduces, your bike will still give out black smoke till all the carbon accumulated is thrown out.
You may need to make your mixture very lean in that period.
Also note the carbon soot you see as black smoke may have been an underlying condition, which was unmasked when you had your bike powerwashed.
To get her to start (after the wash) with the water in the electricals etc. or even just like that, you must've revved her up pretty much at which point the previously accumulated soot got dislodged, which you then associated with the powerwash.
For checking whether the old spark plug is shorting, use a multimeter in the ohm setting. You can then decide whether to keep it as back up or not.
Any particular reason, you changed the cables?
If you are not happy with the new ones, might as well let the old ones be...

I thought Vaseline a.k.a. petroleum jelly was the standard for coating electricals. I have heard that when lithium grease dries, it forms a coat. On electricals, I don't think it is a great idea.
Other experienced members to give their inputs on this.
Anyway hope your bike starts feeling better soon.

The motorcycle is back to normal after getting water out of the stator connector, the reason for the spluttering and smoking was due to it shorting and the spark plug not firing at higher revs.Originally posted by rk1685 View PostOkay. Read the message and the update & measures taken by you.

To make sure the issue doesn't reoccur I've packed the connector(and RR and CDI connectors as well) with lithium grease and moved the connector to sit under the tank.
Its a personal choice, I change cables at 10k intervals or after a year of use, whichever comes early.

Google baba says though lithium grease appears to have dried up it is actually the particles separating and the pasty residue left behind is the lithium which hopefully still does its job.

The dealership gave the bike with disconnected odometer.. First I thought it was faulty but they told that RTO could fine them for odometer reading when produced for registration, hence the disconnected meter.Originally posted by ashwinprakas View PostYou can ride under 500 km's with TR.
