Re: TVS Apache RTR 200 4V Ownership Experience
Subject: Display console not working!
Hello RTRians,
I have an Apache RTR 200 4V 2009 model. My bike is only a year old. In Mumbai, it has been raining continuously for several weeks and I wasn't able to take the bike out. There was a starting issue with the bike, and the battery had died. The On-road assistance (paid service) helped me get the bike started and I was able to recharge the battery.
During all this time, the display console on the bike stopped showing anything. There is just that blue background light, but nothing shows on the console! It is blank!
Has anyone faced a similar issue? Can you please tell me what happened to my display console?
I would like to know if I can fix it on my own before I take it to ASC.
Thanks a lot!

Re: TVS Apache RTR 200 4V Ownership Experience
The suspension of Gixxer is on the softer side whereas TVS Apache RTR200 suspension is slightly on the stiffer side. In bumpy roads, potholes Apache can easily absorb the jerking with no effort. But Gixxer will give pain to bumps. A harder suspension gives a better stability.Originally posted by Joe29 View PostCan anyone who has an idea about the pillion seat comfort of the RTR 200 and the Gixxer share their views as to which would be better, considering both comfort and suspension setup tuning for a 30 mins ride at a stretch within the city?... I was fixed on the Gixxer 250 naked, but due to certain circumstances, Pillion comfort priority has come into picture and these are the only two bikes I plan to buy within 2 lakhs! (Ruled out everything else due to some or the other reason).. Thanks in advance for all the suggestions and opinions if I can get any!!
In case of seat comfort Apache has softer and well cushioned pillion sweat. Gixxer has harder pillion seat. The only drawback with the pillion seat of Apache is it’s little bit higher to ride.
If you are confused between Gixxer 250 and RTR 200 then surely go for Gixxer 250 because of it’s better engine. But comparing with Gixxer 150 the RTR is the definite winner.Last edited by DocAG; 08-25-2020, 06:59 PM.

Yup it’s normal. Little bit tight. But it can be opened with some effort. And now I’m using Bosch stock plug for RTR 200Originally posted by sun105 View Postno idea about problem number 2 but for the first one ,just tell me if you can pull out the spark plug cap easily .

no idea about problem number 2 but for the first one ,just tell me if you can pull out the spark plug cap easily .Originally posted by DocAG View PostI have TVS Apache RTR200 ABS BS4 2018 model. I maintain my bike too well with 4 regular services per year. Driven only 2400km. Now I have some issues about my bike—-
1. From the very beginning I am facing starting problem. For the first start of the day I need to use choke and wait for 30-45 seconds. Then the bike will run only. No showroom technician could fix the issue. They have checked the carburettor, air filter, tuning everything. But the issue remains the same. Spark plug(copper) was changed twice.
2. When I go beyond 60-65kmph and apply brakes to turn to another lane or side road or to avoid any obstacles, the handle locks. It tends to remain straight. But I don’t face it while speed below 60kmph. Brakes seems to be okay. ABS is working fine. It’s a recent problem.
3. I don’t get that charm that fun to drive experience as it’s seems to be little laggy.
Please help me out with your suggestions.

Moreover I can hear a distinctive clunk when i change gears mainly between the 2nd and 3rd gears. I don't ride a lot just to and fro from office which is about 7 kms from my house. Since i am very fat and quite lazy my riding style is also quite sedate hovering around 40kmph max(mostly). And i have just ridden around 220 kms.
Is there a way to get the old clutch feel back? And should i get it done at local mechanic instead of going to the tvs centre again?.
P.S. can i change my engine oil once again, this time somewhere other than the tvs service centre. I was thinking of putting Motul 5100 10W30.
refer manual for clutch free play
if still not fixed go to service center
gear clunk noise is mostly due clutch freeplay issue or loose chain
