I had the same issue quite sometime back @ 27000+ ODO reading (mine is oct 2016 make). I think it could be because of faulty front sprocket since I replaced the chain sprocket kit @ 24000+ and after that this wear out happened. Around that time TVS released upgraded front sprocket (with rubber lining) which i replaced along with the shaft. Costed me around 5K. I have crossed 51000 kms now and its running strong. I have not faced any other issues apart from usual consumables.

P.S. i had also posted this on xBHP, looks like there are only 2 bikes so far with this problem.

Well brakes in front were not getting applied properly at which asc told to replace the front cylinder and.for the rear brakes were getting jammed and would lock due at which the asc replaced the rear cylinder at my cost.

Replaced air filter, spark plugs, oil, disc caliper rear, disc pads both rear and front, ignition relay (because the engine stutters in slow speeds within 2-3k rpm in 1st or 2nd gear and the bike doesn't have the pickup; covered under warranty) and other consumables. They have done their job very good this time. Bike is smooth now and engine seems to be powerful this time. Clutch Plate replacement is pending which I'll be doing it in next month.

Thanks Tarun for your inputs regarding the self start issue. ASC guys resolved it this time. There was dirt in the switch which they have cleaned.
It’s great to hear that your RTR is now roaring. Yeah, as you said sometimes free services are pathetic. But not in all service stations. It varies with ASC. Unless like Honda services, whether you pay or free service they gonna do it in pathetic way.

The oil level was low and dark - I replaced the oil. It looks like the svc didn't top-up oil in the 2nd service. More importantly, they didn't even bother to check.
I changed the oil, oil filter and even the air filter (it was dirty) since I ride in dusty conditions in Mumbai.

Now the bike is performing smoothly and as expected.

Sounds good. You can check the air filter replace time by comparing the colour of the viscous paper. If the colour of viscous paper is near to the filter’s body plastic, then replace.

I originally used to go to Innovative TVS in Bhandup.. But after 2nd service experience, I took my bike to Supreme TVS in Thane for the above mentioned changes. I'm evaluating these guys now.

Is this an issue with the air filter or engine oil? I have only completed 3500 kms so far with 2 services. Oil was changed only on the 1st service. The service guy said that the oil can be changed on the 3rd service since it can last until I do 4500 kms.

I don't see any indication for service on my console either.

What could be the issue? Can you pl point me in the right direction?
TVS Fully synthetic oil can hold upto 3500 kms. After that it loses its lubrication. I used to change it in every service.

Try changing the oil and check for clutch pull. Some times full clutch pull setting can shave off speed and pick up. Also accelerator play. We can’t twist the accelerator more than a level. If accelerator have extra play, it will reduce our chances to twist as much.

Usually the TVS oil is good for 4-4.5k. During 2nd service, asc do only the fillup. Take out the oil level dipstick and check if the oil level up to the flat panel of the dipstick. Also check the oil color. If the oil is low or too black, engine would be dissipating more heat and you'll feel in your legs and engine would be sluggish.

While checking the oil level, dont try this when the engine is hot.

i used to tune my carb by myself by the following steps.

carb should be tuned once the engine warmed.. if your engine is cold, drive for 5-10 mins and you can tune it..

1) increase the idling upto 5k RPM.
2) Close the Air/Fuel screw by rotating the screw. once you start closing the screw, you can note that the engine sound will be reduced and RPM will be reduced. (you can note the number of turns if needed to restore the setting)
3) Now open the Air/Fuel screw, as you open the screw, the engine sound and RPM will gradually increase. after few turns, all of a sudden again the sound and RPM will decrease.
4) Now your concern is to find a sweet spot for your engine by turning the screw. (It'll be mostly anywhere between 3 to 4 turns of Air/Fuel screw.) where it gets high RPM and Engine sound.

In all 6 service, either asc has cleaned the gear sensors or changed it. But still after cleaning, the sensors doesn't work properly. So I have considered it as a common issue.

Sometimes due to reckless job from service centre can be the issue.. i had very worst experience with honda service where i asked them to replace the engine oil. But they didn't changed and they included in Itemized bill. After few kilometer i realized that my gear where very sluggish and opened the dip stick and checked the engine oil then i found out it wasn't replaced. I took my bike to honda again got it replaced.

kinda same happened for my RTR. My gear sensor was glitchy where it was fluctuating in Neutral. So approached a TVS service nearby (not the service centre where i purchased my bike). They cleaned the sensor and was fine for about a week. After a week again same issue started to show up. Now i approached my ASC, where the found out that the screws were loosen. After tighten them up it was fixed. Its been 6 months still it's fine.

These kind of things we can done by ourself if we have 30 mins of time. It'll be so satisfying where we fix things for our bike. Unfortunately, we are so busy and our free times are completely spent for resting.
